Fight Breaks Out Between TOMMY LEE And KID ROCK At 'MTV Video Music Awards'
Access Hollywood is reporting that two former husbands of Pamela Anderson engaged in a physical altercation at the 2007 "MTV Video Music Awards" Sunday night.
The two men — Tommy Lee of the rock band MÖTLEY CRÜE and Kid Rock, appeared to get physical in the audience.
According to a source who witnessed the event, Tommy Lee was sitting with magician Criss Angel. The two went over to see Diddy who was sitting in close proximity to Kid Rock.
At some point after the twosome made their way over to Diddy, "all hell broke loose," the source told Access.
People immediately gathered around the fracas and both Lee and Kid Rock were escorted out.
Angel followed shortly after, though it did not appear, the witness told Access, that the magician was escorted out.
It was unclear at the time of press, what the scuffle was over, but from the stage, actor Jamie Foxx made a reference to the incident, saying, "Let's stop all of this white-on-white crime."
Anderson herself was at the event, and made an appearance on stage. She appeared to have brought magician Hans Klok to the show.

TOMMY LEE Says: KID ROCK Is A 'Jealous No-Career-Havin' Country Bumpkin' TMZ.com reports that MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee may have been on the receiving end of Kid Rock's fist at the "MTV Video Music Awards" Sunday night (September 9), but Tommy saw fit to spit back at Kid last night on his site at TommyLee.tv, calling him a "country bumpkin" and dismissing his punch as a "bitch slap." Says Tommy (original post edited for clarity): "Yeah!! Here I am minding my own biz having a great time with my friend Criss Angel (magician) and watching the MTV Awards in the front row saying hello to all my friends. Pamela [Anderson] comes and sits on my lap who I love and adore. I get a tap on the shoulder from Kid Pebble. I stand up and embrace him with a semi-hug and say, 'Hey dude...What up??' He punches me in the face. Well, if ya wanna call it that!? More like a bitch slap! Wuss!! Anyway... I go to knock this jealous no-career-havin' country bumpkin the fuck OUT.... and before I can have a meeting with my fist and his ugly-ass mug, security guards, NOT MINE, at the Palms grab me and haul my ass outta the award show threatening me that if I move they'll break my arm. Yeah, whatever!! My security guard Bruce grabs them and says, 'I got him. Let go!!!' So I'm fine and of course leave to my room with police and owner George Maloof. The rest is paperwork and bullshit! Anyway, I would like to apologize to Alicia and George and MTV for the disrespectful bullshit caused by a piece of shit called Kid Pebble!!" Kid Rock was cited for misdemeanor battery for throwing a punch at Tommy Lee during Alicia Keys' performance at the "MTV Video Music Awards". Kid Rock will go to court in three to five weeks to enter a plea. Officer Bill Cassell told "The Insider" the maximum punishment would be a $500 fine and six months in jail. We are all ears as Kid Rock will likely fire back.

KID ROCK Says TOMMY LEE Is A 'Loser' Kid Rock spoke to "The Mikey Morning Show" on Rock 105.3 in San Diego early today (Thursday, September 13) about his fight with former MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee at the MTV Video Music Awards. On Tommy's blogging about the incident on his web site: Kid: Did you see my blog? ["The Mikey Morning Show" responds: No] You know why? 'Cause I don't talk. And he's [Tommy] doing what he does best, he's talking. I mean, this is what stars all seem to be doing. And I really can't say a lot about it — my attorneys told me not to, obviously — but I think there's enough eyewitnesses there to say what happened and of course he has a different story which makes perfect sense. On what started the feud: Kid: Well, there's a lot of history there, obviously. It's just a lot of mouth talking, a lot being extremely disrespectful for a long time. To even be in the same room, it's kinda like… I was trying to figure out why is this… whatever, 45-year-old man, who's not involved with the show, who doesn't have an album coming out, who has nothing to promote, even sitting through this garbage. Like, you know, I go to those things because I have my album coming out October 9th, you know, and I think it's the best record I've done, so I'm trying to promote that. Other than that, I don't want to go sit through Britney Spears lipsynching and some kid dancing and lipsynching. I don't want any part of it, but you know it's part of something you do, so I'm trying to figure out what this guy's doing there, so whatever, I, like, that let that go. And then when I came back from the bathroom he's pretty much sitting in my seat. I'm like, that's it. He's sitting right next to it, yeah. On whether there was any jawing going on before Kid went to the bathroom: Kid: Yeah, it's been going on for five years. I did what any man would do, any man across the country, across the world would do. I mean, let me tell you this much — the last contact I had with this loser, who, by the way, it kills me just to be associated with, to have my name in a sentence with him, it honestly destroys me, I'm, like, gosh, you know, it's just so bad. Last contact I had with this loser was when me and Pam [Anderson] were going through our divorce he picks up her [Blackberry] and starts e-mailing me how much of a bitch I am, and this that and the other, and I calmly told him, I said, "Listen, I will see you again." I said, "You know this has nothing to do with you." And that was the end of it because I don't talk, you know. He used her Blackberry. It just starts going off, like he's king. I'm like, you know, "You've seen me plenty of times." It's always something, it's always an excuse. And this would be a great opportunity for him to go, "You know what, I did run my mouth, I'm going to be a man about it, take my lumps, and now I'm gonna shut up and it's over," but I'm sure he's not that smart. On whether this basically comes down to Pam? Kid: No, no, no, no, it has the farthest thing to do from that. That was probably the best thing I ever did, was get out of that, the day I filed from divorce. In hindsight, you can never tell anyone anything about love, but I went through what I went through, and there's no doubt it wasn't love — we went through all these things, but then coming out of it pretty much unscathed, after uprooting my son and a lot of things, it's like, "Thank god I'm out of this." It had zero to do with her. Of course, she'll tell everyone she was the victim in it, like always. "I'm the victim, I'm the victim!" Kid Rick however, remains unphased by these current events.

NIKKI SIXX 'Freaked Out' By Ex-Wife's Alleged Call Girl Past MSNBC.com reports: In a hearing to determine how to divide assets in the divorce of Nikki Sixx and Donna D'Errico, the MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist testified Thursday (September 20) that he was told his former model-actress wife previously worked as a prostitute and a stripper, and that she was a spendthrift. "I heard she was doing high-end call girl work," Sixx said. "I was freaking out. Your head starts to spin. We have a child together." D'Errico, Playboy Playmate of the Month September 1995 and a former "Baywatch" cast member, married Sixx on Dec. 23, 1996. According to Sixx, they first met on a blind date arranged by MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee, who was once married to another "Baywatch" star, Pamela Anderson. D'Errico, 39, filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court in April 2006 and the marriage was officially over in June. Sixx, 48, was testifying for the second straight day in what D'Errico's lawyer, G. Darrell Berglund, said is a non-jury trial concerning financial issues and property division. He said he also is seeking to uncover assets allegedly hidden by Sixx and to protect his client from what he called "character assassination." Asked outside the courtroom about Sixx's statements, Berglund said, "We are amused by the comments." He said D'Errico is a religious woman whose entire life centers around her children. Sixx — dressed in a coat, tie, jeans and tennis shoes — testified a madam told him about D'Errico while the band was touring last fall with AEROSMITH. Sixx said that when he asked the madam for proof, she gave him names and other information that led him to believe she was telling the truth. One of the names was of a man who he knew to be a Las Vegas pimp, Sixx said. Sixx also testified he was stunned to find out that D'Errico worked years earlier as a stripper in Texas and Las Vegas. "I was hurt and I was in shock," Sixx said. "I said, 'Wait a minute, she didn't tell me that."' "Got Coke?"

Bonds Baseball to Be Branded With AsteriskThe baseball from Barry Bonds’s much-debated 756th home run will soon land in the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. When it gets there, it will be branded with an asterisk. Marc Ecko, the fashion designer who bought the ball for $752,467, asked the fans to decide how he should treat the memento. After more than 10 million online votes, 47 percent of voters wanted the ball to be adorned with an asterisk, 34 percent said it should not be changed and 19 percent wanted it to be shot into space. The first two options included the addendum that the ball would be donated to the Hall of Fame. While representatives of the Hall were thrilled to get the ball from the most hallowed record in sports, they said their acceptance of the asterisk-laden piece of history did not mean that they supported the inference that Bonds used performance-enhancing substances to achieve his home run total. “As far as we’re concerned, the asterisk represents the voices of the fans for this one moment in time,” said Jeff Idelson, the Hall’s vice president for communications and education. “For this one week, in September of 2007, this is what the fans wanted. We felt it was worth it to take it.” By accepting Ecko’s soon-to-be branded donation, the Hall, which operates independent of Major League Baseball, has put itself in the unusual position of taking, and then displaying, a ball that has been defaced. Idelson said that the Hall “does not support the defacing of artifacts,” but that this ball was too monumental to ignore. “You might say it’s defacing,” Ecko said. “Others might say that it’s validating the way most people feel about the ball.” Since the Hall chronicles the history of baseball, Idelson said it was the museum’s responsibility to accept the ball as a vital part of history, put it on display in Cooperstown, N.Y., and allow fans to make their judgments about Bonds, the ball and the fresh asterisk. Ecko, who cast three online votes for the ball to have an asterisk, said the voting was emblematic of the cynical way fans often view sports these days. Since many fans become emotionally attached to athletes, Ecko said, they want to believe that the athletes are not cheating. Based on Ecko’s poll, almost two-thirds of the voters had doubts about Bonds’s achievements. “The 10 million votes were cast,” Ecko said. “This is not about the electoral college of media opinions. A private person bought this ball and the people voted to decide what to do with it.” Pete Nash, a baseball historian who was also one of the members of 3rd Bass (aka Prime Minister Pete Nice), a defunct rap group, said writing on baseballs dates from the 1850s. Nash said players used to scrawl on important baseballs before saving them. In that respect, Nash argued, the asterisk on Bonds’s 756th home run ball was not as rare as it appeared. “Is writing on a ball the exact same thing as putting an asterisk on a ball?” Nash said. “It’s similar. You’re trying to put something on this ball that happened with this ball. This is his 756th and it’s in question, so there’s an asterisk.” Still, Jerome Holtzman, who is M.L.B.’s historian, said he was surprised that a ball with an asterisk was accepted by the Hall. “I’ve never heard of anything like that,” Holtzman said. “I’ve never heard of anything being doctored and sent to the Hall of Fame. But if the Hall agreed to take it, so be it.” Dale Petroskey, the Hall’s president, said there was no precedent for a ball being donated after it been intentionally defaced. Petroskey said he did not know why fans voted the way they did, “but we’ll take it.” “It’s still a very important part of baseball history,” Petroskey said. After Bonds, a left fielder with the San Francisco Giants, surpassed Hank Aaron’s record, he donated his batting helmets from the games in which he hit 755 and 756 to the Hall. Bonds hinted that he might also donate one of his uniforms at a later date. Noting how Idelson trailed Bonds while Bonds pursued Aaron’s record, Nash said: “Jeff Idelson followed Bonds around the country for two weeks and he ended up getting a helmet. The Hall would be crazy not to take this ball.” One day after Ecko announced his plans for the ball, Idelson met with him in New York to discuss it. Idelson noted that all 35,000 artifacts in the Hall have been donated, so, since two of Ecko’s three options involved donating the ball to the Hall, it was his duty to speak with him. Still, an asterisk is one thing. How would the Hall have reacted if Ecko had included an option to write “steroid user” on the ball and it wound up with the most votes? “In terms of if it were marked in another way, fortunately, that’s a bridge we don’t have to cross,” Idelson said. The former Chicago Cubs slugger Billy Williams said he was pleased that the ball was heading for Cooperstown. “A lot’s been said about Bonds as an individual,” Williams said. “A lot’s been said about his use of steroids. But nothing has been proven. This guy, I look at him as a great player. Before the steroid era he was having great years.” The former Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jim Palmer hinted that a tarnished legacy represented by a defaced baseball could be Bonds’s just reward. “I think time will sort out how you want to view it,” Palmer said. “But the fans, they must have a pretty good sense of what has gone on, or at least what they think might have gone on.” One person who was not enamored with Ecko’s plan was Bonds. He called Ecko “an idiot,” which did not bother Ecko. “I’ve been called worse,” Ecko said. “Honestly, I’ve been called worse by family and friends.” Ecko is reviewing ways to put the asterisk on the ball, but stressed that he wanted it to be done elegantly and tastefully. The Hall has promised Ecko that the asterisk would not be obscured. “This is an artifact worth keeping at the Hall of Fame,” Ecko said.

Redskins’ Taylor Is Seriously Injured in Shooting
The shooting occurred about 1:45 a.m. while Mr. Taylor, a Miami native in his fourth season as a free safety for the Redskins, was in his home in Palmetto Bay, an upscale section of Miami, said Kathy Webb, a spokeswoman for the Miami-Dade police. Mr. Taylor appeared to be the victim of an attempted robbery, police officials said.
He was flown by helicopter to a trauma center at Jackson Memorial hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and was listed in critical condition, the police said.
A hospital spokeswoman said Mr. Taylor’s father, Pedro W. Taylor, requested that details of his condition not be released. But several local television stations have reported that Mr. Taylor was hit by at least one bullet in his femoral artery — a major blood vessel in the thigh — and is currently in “extremely critical condition.” The senior Taylor is police chief of Florida City, Fla., a small city in Miami-Dade County.
In an interview that was televised this afternoon on WUSA, a Virginia television station, Clinton Portis, a Redskins running back and teammate of Mr. Taylor’s in college, said Mr. Taylor was in grave condition.
“I’ve been told he lost a lot of blood, and he’s fighting to hang on,” Mr. Portis said. “So pray for him, and hopefully he keeps fighting.”
Sean Taylor was a star football player at the University of Miami — earning the Big East Conference Defensive Player of the Year award — and was selected fifth over all in the 2004 National Football League draft by the Redskins.
The team signed him to a seven-year, $18 million contract, and he is widely considered one of the toughest and best young safeties in the league. Although sidelined for the last two weeks because of a knee sprain, he leads his team this season with five interceptions.
Mr. Taylor has drawn attention for more than his playing ability, most notably in 2005. In June of that year, he was arrested and charged with felony assault after the authorities said he pointed a gun at three men outside a house in West Perrine, a rough neighborhood south of Miami, and accused them of stealing two all-terrain vehicles from him.
According to the police and witnesses, Mr. Taylor, accompanied by an entourage, assaulted one of the men and made death threats before driving off. Minutes later, a group of men drove by his parked GMC Yukon Denali and sprayed it with bullets from an AK-47 and a pistol. Mr. Taylor’s vehicle was empty at the time, and the gunmen were never identified or arrested.
Prosecutors negotiated a plea deal with Mr. Taylor and agreed to drop the felony assault charges. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation in return and pledged to donate time and money to various charities and schools in southern Florida.
On the field, Mr. Taylor has earned a reputation for angry outbursts. In 2004, during his rookie season, he was accused of spitting on Cincinnati Bengals player T.J. Houshmandzadeh during a confrontation after a Redskins home game. The league investigated the accusation but did not issue any fines because there was no video evidence.
The following season, however, Mr. Taylor was accused of spitting on yet another player from an opposing team, this time Michael Pittman of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, during the first round of the playoffs. He was ejected from the game and fined $17,000. It was an unfitting end to what should have been a triumphant day for Mr. Taylor, who scored a touchdown that helped propel the Redskins to a 17-10 victory and a spot in the next round of the playoffs.

NFL Star Sean Taylor Dies After Gunshot
Sean Taylor, the Washington Redskins safety who was shot early Monday at his home in Miami, has died, according to a family friend. He was just 24.
The Pro Bowl safety had taken a bullet in his upper leg, reports the AP, damaging an artery, causing serious blood loss and loss of consciousness. According to his former lawyer, Richard Sharpstein, Taylor seemed to show signs of recovery when he squeezed a nurse's hand late Monday night, but never regained consciousness thereafter.
Miami-Dade Police are investigating the attack, which occurred when an intruder apparently entered Taylor's home, in what the cops are considering a possibly burglary.

Ex-Lynyrd Skynyrd Drummer Arrested Again for Not Registering as Sex Offender
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Former Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer Artimus Pyle has been arrested a second time after failing to properly register as a sex offender, sheriff's officials said.
The 59-year-old musician, whose real name is Thomas Delmer Pyle, was arrested Tuesday at one of three addresses he gave to authorities, Sgt. Chuck Mulligan said. He was being held Wednesday on $50,000 bond, Mulligan told The Florida Times-Union. Jail records do not show whether he had a lawyer.
Pyle had been released on $10,000 bond after being arrested on the same charge Nov. 19. He was arrested again after he still didn't register a new permanent address, officials said.
The address on Pyle's driver's license no longer belongs to the musician, Mulligan said. He said Pyle has a home in North Carolina but has told authorities he wants to register at a Florida address.
Pyle pleaded guilty in 1993 to charges of attempted capital sexual battery by an adult on a victim younger than 12 and being principal to lewd and lascivious behavior on a child younger than 16. He was sentenced to eight years of probation.
According to Lynyrd Skynyrd's Web site, Pyle joined the band in 1975 and left in 1992. Mav Himself was both shocked and appalled by the arrest.

LED ZEPPELIN And METALLICA Rumored For BONNAROO 2008
Scott Goldberg of the Digital Media Wire reports that an anonymous reader tipped Bob Lefsetz, author of The Lefsetz Letter, yesterday about an interesting development in the live music world: "ZEPPELIN just confirmed for Bonnaroo. They can't officially announce until after the London gig so pass it on! Also METALLICA is confirmed on the bill too!"
Goldberg adds: "Anyone who has experienced the unique event that is Bonnaroo (or its younger sibling Vegoose) knows the four-day Manchester, Tennessee show's trademark is its eclectic mix of bands. Considered 'the largest hippy festival in the world,' as Andrew Stockdale, lead singer of WOLFMOTHER said onstage last June, the festival organizers always manage to add plenty of non-hippy artists. In 2007 there was also the addition of a 'classic' billing, the re-emergence of THE POLICE."

Three Charged in Taylor Murder
Three of the four suspects in Sean Taylor's death were charged with unpremeditated murder early Saturday. Charles Wardlow, Eric Rivera and Venjah Hunte all faced the same charge. Police say the killing of Taylor was unplanned. The fourth suspect was arrested but has not yet been charged.
Miami-Dade Police Department spokeswoman Linda O'Brien identified the men as: Eric Rivera Jr., 17, Venjah K. Hunte, 20, Jason Scott Mitchell, 19 and Charles Kendrick Lee Wardlow, 18.
Miami-Dade County Police Director Robert Parker said the suspects didn't expect Taylor to be home when they broke into his home Monday morning. The NFL Pro Bowler surprised them and was fatally shot. The suspects -- all of whom have prior arrests -- are expected to make their first appearance in a Fort Myers courtroom sometime today.
Nick Grande was not charged but remains an arse.

'Naked Twister' nights inspire suburb's sex club ban
DUNCANVILLE, Texas (AP) -- The most popular address on Cedar Ridge Drive is Jim Trulock's split-level home, which has a group sex room and attracts as many as 100 people to swinger parties featuring "Naked Twister" nights.
But the festivities could soon be over. In response to neighbors' complaints, the city has outlawed sex clubs in residential areas. Citations have been issued, and search warrants may be next.
"It's crazy that they want to force their morality down our throats," said Dawn Burton, 45, a regular guest at the parties. "We're all frustrated."
So are those who complain of the noise, traffic and parking problems that occur in their otherwise quiet, upscale neighborhood every Friday and Saturday, when Trulock's home is transformed into "The Cherry Pit."
Duncanville, which proclaims itself "The Perfect Blend of Family, Community and Business," is an unlikely venue for a neighborhood swinger club. The city of 36,000 just southwest of Dallas has about 50 places of worship and not a single registered sexually oriented business.
Duncanville officials insist they are not just another prudish Texas town giving the boot to spouse-swappers. They say it all boils down to a matter of law: Trulock is operating a business featuring live sex acts.
"It's not trying to judge anyone or pass judgment on someone's lifestyle," city spokeswoman Tonya Lewis said.
To support its claim, the city notes that the Cherry Pit accepts money from guests and promotes the parties on its Web site.
"We're not about infringing on the rights of the Cherry Pit patrons or owners," Lewis said. "But now your right to have fun has infringed on everyone else's. And now you have to draw the line."
Other cities have wrestled with the same issue.
Phoenix, for example, prohibited live sexual performances in 1998, effectively outlawing swinger parties. An appeals court upheld the law in 2003, and Duncanville used it as a blueprint when passing a ban last month.
Retiree Jack Martin, who lives a block behind Trulock's home, said he's concerned that the parties will reduce the value of his property.
Others are annoyed by the procession of cars that crowd their street on weekend evenings, or the flood of strangers who descend on the neighborhood.
"If you're going to do that, you should open a business," Martin said. "Go somewhere where it's allowed."
Attorneys for Trulock, 59, say the Cherry Pit is nothing more than a private residence where a group of friends get together on weekends to socialize in whatever way they prefer.
While guests are encouraged to make "voluntary donations" to cover the cost of food and refreshments, organizers deny that anyone is being charged admission to his parties.
Ed Klein, an attorney for the Cherry Pit, said many guests give no money, but those who do often chip in $10 or $20. Klein said he plans to file a lawsuit next week that will challenge the constitutionality of the ordinance and seek a temporary retraining order against the city.
"I don't think it's persecution so much as an invasion of their privacy," Klein said.
Arthur Leonard, a New York Law School professor who studies sexuality law, said the size of the parties might be a legal obstacle.
"It seems to me when you have that number of people involved, it becomes more like a public event," Leonard said. "It seems unlikely that a court would find privacy protection for an event this large."
The city has already cited Trulock with three violations, which carry a maximum $2,000 fine. Duncanville City Manager Kent Cagle this week pledged to continue enforcing the new law.
The case against the swinger parties "does appeal to a lot of people's sense of morality," said Lewis, the city spokeswoman. "That's been a lot of complaints we've gotten from residents: 'I came to Duncanville to have a family. I didn't come here to live next to a sex club."'
Mason loves to stroke it.

Ike Turner rolls down the river...
TMZ has confirmed that music legend and the former Mr. Anna Mae Bullock has died. He was 76.
Turner apparently died in his home in San Marcos, Calif., just outside of San Diego.
Sources close to the family tell TMZ he may have died in his sleep.
TMZ caught up with the R&B star back in May after the legend spent a night in jail after his bogus arrest over a recalled 1989 warrant.
Ike was married four times, most famously to Tina Turner. The famous singing duo had seven top ten R&B songs and famously divorced in 1978 amidst his constant abuse towards her.
Ike has four known children: sons Ike Jr., Michael, Ronald and daughter Mia.
The Recording Academy issued the following the statement about Turner's passing: "There is no doubt that Ike Turner was one of rock and roll's great architects with his genre-defying sound as an instrumentalist and bandleader ... As a two-time GRAMMY® Award winner and recipient of The Recording Academy's 2004 Heroes Award, Ike's legacy as a groundbreaking pioneer in the music industry will never be forgotten."
Tina Turner's rep issued the following statement about the death of the music legend's former husband Ike.
"Tina is aware that Ike passed away earlier today," the rep told TMZ. "She has not had any contact with him in 35 years. No further comment will be made."

Baseball's 'serious drug culture' includes All-Stars
NEW YORK (AP) -- Judgment Day arrived for baseball's steroids era, with the Mitchell report set to be released and posted on the Internet for all to see.
Many questions from a decade of doping will be answered, but many will remain and perhaps new ones will emerge.
The Mitchell Report exposes a "serious drug culture within baseball, from top to bottom," fingers MVPs and All-Stars and calls for beefed-up testing by an outside agency to clean up the game, The Associated Press learned Wednesday.
The report by former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell will include names of 60 to 80 players linked to performance-enhancing substances and more information that exposes "deep problems" afflicting the sport, one of two sources with knowledge of the findings said. Both sources said the report would not address amphetamines.
The two sources were familiar with discussions that led to the final draft but did not want to be identified because it was confidential until its scheduled release. They said the full report, which they had not read, totaled 304 pages plus exhibits. VideoWatch how fans are divided over Mitchell's quest »
One person familiar with the final version would speak only anonymously but described it as "a very thorough treatment of the subject" and said some aspects were surprising. He said the report assigns blame to both the commissioner's office and the players' union.
MLB's "not going to love it, the union's not going to love it," he said.
One source said that while the report will cite problems "top to bottom," it also will expose "deep problems, the number of players, high-level MVPs and All-Stars," as well as clubhouse personnel who allowed steroids and other banned substances in clubhouses or knew about it and didn't say anything.
The rest of the report, the sources said, focuses on recommendations that include enhanced year-round testing and hiring a drug-testing company that uses the highest standards of independence and transparency. Baseball's program currently is overseen by a joint management-union Health Policy Advisory Committee, with an independent administrator approved by both sides.
Mitchell, a Boston Red Sox director, planned to release his report at 2 p.m. Thursday during a Manhattan news conference in New York City. Baseball commissioner Bud Selig was to hold his own news conference a few blocks away 2½ hours later. CNN.com Live plans full real-time streaming coverage of both news conferences.
The report comes at the end of a year when San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds broke the career home run record, only to be indicted 100 days later on charges of lying to a federal grand jury about steroid use.
It also was expected to recommend that baseball develop a credible program to handle cases with evidence of athletes receiving or taking drugs but not testing positive for them. VideoWatch how steroid source wants to be part of solution »
Just last week, Kansas City's Jose Guillen and Baltimore's Jay Gibbons were suspended for the first 15 days of next season, and media reports said they had obtained human growth hormone in 2005, after baseball banned it.
Much of the first part of the report will be based on evidence obtained from former New York Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski, and from information gleaned from the Albany district attorney's investigation into illegal drug distribution that focused on Signature Pharmacy of Orlando, Florida, the sources said.
Radomski was required to cooperate with the investigation as a condition of his federal plea agreement last April. Radomski pleaded guilty to illegally distributing steroids, HGH, amphetamines and other drugs to players and is awaiting sentencing. Some professional athletes have been linked to the Signature probe, though none has been charged.
Rob Manfred, baseball's executive vice president of labor relations, reviewed at least part of the report this week to ensure no confidential information from the drug-testing program was disclosed, a person with knowledge of the union's discussion with Mitchell said, also on condition of anonymity.
Despite repeated requests by the players' association to Mitchell's law firm, the union had not been allowed to review the report, that person said.
"I certainly hope after 21 months and getting zip by way of cooperation from the players' association that they'll come up with some recommendations for improvement," said World Anti-Doping Agency chairman Dick Pound. "If not, it's a complete waste of time."
But he said he's not sure baseball would follow any recommendations.
"My guess is that the management side probably would, but the players' association will dig in and continue its steel-town union approach to life," he said.
Agents have said they expect the report to be highly critical of players and the union for largely refusing to cooperate with Mitchell.
Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, sent an e-mail to owners and team presidents in advance of the report with instructions how to respond to media inquiries.
"We look forward to carefully reading the results of Sen. Mitchell's investigation," the recommended response said. "Protecting the integrity of our game is vital, and we intend to study his findings and recommendations, and will not comment until we have done so."
Baseball did not have an agreement to ban steroids until September 2002, did not have testing with penalties until 2004 and did not ban HGH until 2005, when it also instituted a suspension for a first positive test.
Mitchell was hired by Selig in March 2006 after the publication of "Game of Shadows," a book by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters about Bonds' alleged steroid use. The rise in power in the 1990s, which drew national attention when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa chased Roger Maris' single-season record in the Great Home Run Race of 1998, was accompanied by a rise in suspicion.
Maris' record of 61 homers had stood since 1961, but McGwire hit 70 that year and Sosa had 66. During the chase, the AP reported McGwire had used androstenedione, a supplement then available over the counter that produced testosterone.
A bulked-up Bonds then beat McGwire's record by hitting 73 homers in 2001.

Britney Spears’ Virgin Mary role causes outrage amongst religious leadersReligious leaders have hit out at plans to cast Britney Spears as the Virgin Mary. French film producer Phillippe Rebboah wants the Toxic singer to play the mother of Christ in a movie version of the Nativity story in Sweet Baby Jesus. But the Catholic League of America reacted angrily to the news, saying Spears would be ‘miscast’ in the role. League president Bill Donohue told a US newspaper: “She is seriously miscast. “She would be better suited to play the lead role in a flick called ‘Monica’ [as in Lewinsky]. “If she did, the Catholic League would be delighted to send her a box of cigars.” Former US President Bill Clinton famously romped with White House intern Monica Lewinsky - which involved oral sex and the use of a cigar as a sex toy - in 1996. Spears, 26, reportedly “likes the idea” of playing Mary, a pregnant 19-year-old in Bethlehem, Maryland, who finds herself without a father for her baby as she goes into labour on Christmas Eve. Rebboah said: “I had to convince my partners, because they were like, ‘Oh, no. Britney?’ “But I thought it was brilliant.”

Bobby Fischer Dead at 64
Chess legend Bobby Fischer died of kidney failure in his Iceland home. Fischer was 64 years old.
Gardar Sverrison, a close friend of Fischer, told Agence France-Press (AFP) “I can confirm that he died yesterday in his home due to an illness.”
Einar Einarsson said “He was not a man who wanted to seek medical attention. He didn’t believe in Western medicine.”
Fischer was born in Brooklyn, but later denounced his citizenship due to his hate for the country. Fisher was known for his anti-US and anti-Semitic remarks, despite the fact that his mother was Jewish.
Said to have a higher IQ than Albert Einstein, the chess genius was a champion by age 14 and a grand master by 15. In 1972, Bobby Fisher competed in what is referred to as “the match of the century” where he defeated the reigning champion, Boris Spassky, in Reykjavik. Fischer was 29 years old.

Nate Dogg Recovering after stroke...
Former Death Row artist Nate Dogg is paralyzed on the left side of his body, his rep Rod McGrew told MTV News. Dogg, 38, suffered a mild stroke over the holidays and is in a rehab facility.
He didn't suffer brain damage and his voice has not been affected, his rep said.
"Time will tell everything, obviously. The doctor can only guess what the outcome will be," McGrew said. "But based on situations with similar people his age, and based on his health, the prognosis is good right now."

Spurlock goes on quest for bin Laden Morgan Spurlock insists he really did set out to find the world's most elusive man. In "Where in the World is Osama bin Laden?" the documentarian travels throughout the Middle East chatting in his playful and pointed way with religious leaders, activists, military personnel and everyday people. After an outrageous opening sequence featuring an animated bin Laden dancing to MC Hammer's "You Can't Touch This," the film unfolds as a series of mostly subdued conversations about the war on terror, the reputation of the United States, and yes, the leader of al-Qaida. The movie, which premiered this week at the Sundance Film Festival, will be released by the Weinstein Co. in April. As in his breakout Sundance documentary four years ago, "Super Size Me," Spurlock gleefully whisks past the boring parts. Numbers, history, context — the stuff many documentaries are built around — get jammed into compact, zippy cartoon interludes, "so you don't get bored," he said. He argues that U.S. policy and military action has propped up dictators and fostered inequality in the Mideast, prompting ever more young Arabs to fight back through violent Islamic fundamentalism. And then he has some fun: test-firing an RPG launcher, diving from faux grenades and walking a Saudi Arabian mall in a white robe and kaffiyeh. To get at that titular question, Spurlock traveled to England, France, Morocco, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Jordan before zeroing in on Afghanistan and then Pakistan. But when he reaches a road sign signalling entry to the remote northern parts of Pakistan, where experts have long suspected bin Laden is hiding, Spurlock turns around. The man who defied death by stuffing himself with McDonald's at every meal decides not to defy death by strutting into a truly dangerous haven for terrorists. So did he every REALLY plan on finding the al-Qaida leader? "We were planning on going into the tribal regions. That was our whole goal from the beginning," he said. "But the more people we talked to, the more we started putting the puzzle together, the more we realized that going into this region really wasn't going to solve the problem. Finding this guy isn't the answer. "There are so many different pieces that make up the puzzle that cause this guy to exist, that by the time we got to the border, by the time we were ready to go in and shoot, I said, `You know what, there's such a better place for me to be right now.' And that was back home." That would be back in New York with his pregnant wife Alexandra Jamieson, who is shown giving birth underwater in a final scene. Spurlock dedicated the movie to their son, Laken, and pitches his quest for bin Laden as an effort to make the world safer for him. In the opening credits, video-gamelike characters resembling Spurlock and bin Laden face off "Mortal Kombat"-style. The film is at its best highlighting quirky subjects like the local Afghan governor who wants to lure tourists to the place where bin Laden slipped away under fire in November 2001. "We will build an amusement park in Tora Bora," the man says solemnly, and Spurlock goads him on with talk of roller coasters and water slides. On a visit to Tel Aviv, Spurlock trails an Israeli bomb squad. "Nice job, HAL," he tells a remote-controlled robot that's just destroyed a suspicious case containing a bikini. He hoped the film would expose Americans to the Mideast's moderates, exemplified by an elderly man in one small Afghan village who tells him: "We are neither your friends nor the Taliban's. We just want a simple life."

The Ultimate Warrior Rants Strangely about Heath Ledger... Weirder still is that The Ultimate Warrior has a Blog...
DEAD LONG BEFORE 28.
In the interest of full disclosure, I must tell you I have watched Brokeback Mountain no less than 45 times and I own the Limited Edition DVD, signed by Willie Nelson a short time after he wrote that queer cowboy song as a tribute to the courage of the producers and actors who broke such incredible creative ground when they made their agenda-less movie. Serious. Until I saw Bendover Brokeback, Braveheart was my favorite movie. But the love scenes of Brokeback sucked me right in and I had no choice but to give myself over to the passion of its wide open range, if you get my drift. Such courage this young man and his colleagues have. Reminds me of the courage of classic movie stars, where during the War they enlisted and flew bomber planes and fought on frontlines, then came back and picked up their lives and careers right where they left off, without anti-American sentiment, whining and complaining, or self-destructive self indulgence. I’m equally inspired.
Apparently, Leather Hedger had sleeping troubles and anxiety and dealt with terrible mood swings. So do soldiers but they don’t self-destructively fuck up their lives. In fact, they don’t sleep, handle anxiety and mood swings while dealing with whether or not they might at any moment lose their life. And they do this all the while they are dangerously protecting the freedom of others to fuck up their own. By the way, how many 28 (or older or younger) year old soldiers met their death yesterday? It’s not easy to find out. None of them made the headlines of any news.
By today’s standard, though, I do have to agree that he was a great father. Perhaps even greater then the father of the year, Hulk Hogan. After all, Leather Hedger did what it took to kill himself. His kid is without a father, yes, but the negative influence is now removed and his own child has the chance for a full recovery. Hogan, on the other hand, won’t go quite that far. He insists on sticking around to keep further ruining, and profiting off of, the parentally mismanaged lives of his own children.
It is sad and tragic….that we don’t demand attention be paid to greater things. The Ultimate Warrior's Blog:www.ultimatewarrior.com/blog/2008/01/23/dead-long-before-28/
