Simpson, Lachey officially call it quitsApparently Jessica Simpson will be getting her turkey stuffed elsewhere this ThanksgivingLOS ANGELES - After months of rumors, denials and salacious magazine covers, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey are officially calling it quits. The couple jointly announced their separation Wednesday, their publicists Meredith O’Sullivan and Rob Shooter confirmed. “This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.” The couple wed in October 2002 and went on to star in their own reality show, “Newlyweds,” on MTV. The show made them A-list celebrities. Following Simpson’s role in 2005’s “The Dukes of Hazzard,” tabloid magazines began reporting trouble in the marriage. Us Weekly first reported the couple’s split in its Oct. 17 issue.

'Alias' Ending After Five Seasons: Stomper CrushedLOS ANGELES — "Alias" is going undercover for good. The spy drama starring Jennifer Garner will end its five-season run in May, ABC announced Wednesday, promising a big finish. "'Alias' is not going to wind down as it comes to an end, it's going to rev up, and we're going to make it the event it deserves to be," ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson said in a statement. The series co-stars Victor Garber, Ron Rifkin, Carl Lumbly and Kevin Weisman. It was created by executive producer J.J. Abrams, who is also part of ABC's popular "Lost." Airing at 8 p.m. EST Thursday this season, "Alias" has struggled to hold its audience against the competition, especially CBS' "Survivor: Guatemala." Last week, the ABC show drew about 7 million viewers compared to about 19 million for "Survivor." Garner and her husband, actor Ben Affleck, are expecting their first child around Christmas. Her pregnancy was written into "Alias" for her character, a globe-trotting spy.

Jackson’s ex says he didn’t father kidsUpdated: 2:45 a.m. ET Nov. 30, 2005 The mother of two of Michael Jackson’s children has reportedly said that the babies were conceived from a test tube. An Irish publication is quoting Debbie Rowe as saying that Prince Michael Jr., 8, and Paris, 7, were both conceived using semen from a sperm bank. “Michael knows the truth — that he is not the natural father of Prince Michael Jr. and Paris,” Rowe said, according to the Irish newspaper Sunday World. “He has to come clean.” The alleged comments come on the heels of a report in the New York Daily News that Jackson has been limiting Rowe’s access to their children. Rowe couldn’t be reached for further comment and Jackson’s rep didn’t respond to repeated requests for comment.

Here's one battle of the bands that could have left marks. Former Creed frontman Scott Stapp and members of 311 were involved in a Thanksgiving Day smackdown in a swanky Baltimore hotel. In a Web posting this week, 311 says that Stapp "sucker-punched" drummer Chad Sexton following a chance meeting in the bar of the Harbor Court Hotel. "We did not intend to discuss this incident publicly, but since rumors are beginning to spread we'd like to set the record straight," the band says, before giving its version of the incident. Stapp, the message claims, entered the bar, "drank a shot at the bar and then threw his shot glass, smashing it on the bar. He was acting belligerent and got into an argument with patrons sitting at the bar. He then sat down next to [311 band member Douglas "SA" Martinez] and his wife. He made a disrespectful and crude remark to SA's wife. Chad and SA asked him to step away. He then sucker-punched Chad. Scott was looking for a fight--and that's what he got." Speaking to Rolling Stone, Martinez says he fractured his hand in the fisticuffs. Harbor Court employees confirmed Wednesday that a scuffle occurred sometime after 10 p.m. Staffers declined to disclose specifics, however; one clerk described the incident simply a "brief altercation." Employees say Baltimore police were called to the hotel, but Stapp was not arrested and no charges have been filed. A public information officer would not confirm details of the incident. Stapp, whose vocals helped Creed dominate the modern rock charts in the late 1990s and sell over 30 million albums worldwide before imploding last year, has yet to remark on the dustup. His Los Angeles-based publicist, Dvora Vener, would only issue a "no comment" late Wednesday. It's been a rough few days for the 32-year-old singer. His debut solo album, The Great Divide, barely dented the charts this week, opening at 19 with 94,000 in sales. (By comparison, Creed's final studio album, Weathered, sold 887,000 copies in its first week in 2001; and his former band mate's offshoot, Alter Bridge, sold 95,000 first-week copies last year of their debut, One Day Remains.) Stapp has been dogged by rumors of alcohol abuse for years; Creed was sued by fans in Chicago, who said the singer was so intoxicated at a 2002 concert that he was unable to remember the words to some of Creed's best-known hits, like "Higher." According to his Website, Stapp will begin touring in 2006 in support of The Great Divide. Meanwhile, 311 is due in Toronto Friday as part of a fall tour in support of the Omaha-based band's latest album, Don't Tread on Me. The band is also set to tape two songs for Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. (Credit E! News)

Here's how they do Halloween in Minnesota.... www.kstp.com/article/stories/s11523.htmlNancy Bowring is among a dozen neighbors off Mill Road in Centerville who thinks a Halloween display has unacceptable sexual puns. "I just find it offensive," Bowring says. "I think it clearly crosses the line." "Yeah, maybe it's inappropriate. I think it's funny," said Heather Pranke, who put up the display. "We haven't done anything wrong. There are no swear words. They are strictly names." The tombstones have names that allude to sexual organs or acts. The names include: Mike Hunt, Ben Dover, and Phil McCraken -- among others. City officials and the mayor are determining if the the decorations violate the city's nuisance ordinance. Pranke has refused to take down the display. She says her immediate neighbors have never complained. "If you don't like it, don't look at it," said Cindy Bohm, she lives next door to Pranke’s home. But at least ten residents from the area have filed complaints with the city this year, and police were called last year to ask Pranke to voluntarily remove the tombstones. She did not. "When it's right on the street and their (our children's) bus goes right by it, we don't have much to say," said Bowring. Her concern has been her children, who have begun to ask her about the tombstones and the name's meaning. "An 8-year-old is not going to understand what that means," said Prankle. But 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS found some children did understand the meaning. "I like Hugh Jass the best," said AJ Knollmarer, 11 year-old. Despite the complaints, Pranke said she will keep the tombstones up, until the city forces her to take them down.

Teenager claims she was raped at Nolte’s housePublicists says the actor was not at home during the alleged incidentSANTA MONICA, Calif. - A lawsuit by parents of a teenager who says she was raped during a party at Nick Nolte’s home can include evidence of previous drug and alcohol use by the actor and his son, a judge has ruled. Nolte’s publicist has said the actor was not home during the party. However, the lawsuit claims he was negligent, contending that the home had “a long history of furnishing drugs and/or alcohol to minors.” The suit states the girl, then 15, was given the date-rape drug GHB and sexually assaulted at a party on Jan. 25, 2003. Superior Court Judge Gerald Rosenberg on Tuesday said prior behavior is “certainly relevant” to the case. He denied a motion by defense attorneys to limit questioning of witnesses to what happened the night of the party. A motion by attorneys for Nolte and his son argued that broader questioning was irrelevant to the case and would cause “unwarranted annoyance and embarrassment.” Nolte’s son, who was a minor at the time of the incident, was not named in the suit. An after-hours call seeking comment from Nolte’s attorney Tuesday night was not immediately returned. A defendant in the lawsuit, Nicholas Woodring, was convicted last year of having sex with a minor. No way... not at this guy's house! What are they thinking!

the scott stapp/311 story was good. 311 may be my new favorite band. there's another stapp story making the rounds that he appeared on that spike tv movie show drunk, using f bombs every 5 seconds, and berating aritists like bono & dave grohl. is there a more hated man in music these days than stapp? he's certainly overthrown ja rule and fred durst by a mile.

Diamond Dallas Page Files Lawsuit Against Rapper Jay-Z
Diamond Dallas Page has filed a federal lawsuit against rapper Jay-Z alleging trademark infringement. Jay-Z is shown using the "Diamond Cutter" hand symbol on the cover art of some of his products including the CD "The Dynasty: Roc La Familia 2000" (which was released on Halloween in the year 2000) and the "Jay-Z - Fade To Black" DVD, which was released in April of 2005.
DDP started using the hand signal in 1996 when he was in WCW and has since used it professionally for his wrestling and entertainment ventures. The symbol appears on the cover of his new book "Yoga for Regular Guys" and it's something Page has branded as a symbol of the "Diamond Cutters" over the past few years. The hand symbol is kind of like a logo to him, hence the lawsuit.

Ashlee Simpson hospitalized after collapseNEW YORK - Ashlee Simpson collapsed following a performance in Tokyo and has been hospitalized. The 21-year-old singer on Thursday had just performed her single, “Boyfriend” for MTV Japan, when she told the audience she felt sick and said to them, “I love you guys,” Us Weekly reported Friday. She then collapsed in an elevator and was rushed by ambulance to a hospital. Her representative, Rob Shuter, confirmed the report to The Associated Press, but would not give further details or provide Simpson’s condition. Simpson, the younger sister of Jessica Simpson, has been touring to support her sophomore album, “I Am Me.” She infamously was caught lip-synching her “Saturday Night Live” performance in October 2004. Her upcoming appearance at the Radio Music Awards on Monday has been canceled.

Michelle Rodriguez Gets a DUI...Maybe getting some acting talent is to follow?Perhaps she mistook the cops for the Others? Whatever the reason, Lost star Michelle Rodriguez turned into a drama queen following her arrest earlier this month for drunken driving, with an outburst worthy of the ABC thriller series. According to a police report unearthed this week by Hawaiian TV station KITV, Rodriguez was "argumentative and rude" to the arresting officer and issued a Braveheart-esque rant when he took her in for posting a 0.145 blood alcohol content, twice the legal limit. "I don't f--king belong here! Why don't you just put a gun to my head and shoot me! You've already taken my freedom! You might as well take my life too," she was quoted as saying. The Girlfight star continued her soliloquy as she was driven to jail, telling the police officer to "just take my car and I'll walk all the way to the North Shore, but don't leave me in the back of this car, poppie." Her lawyer has declined to comment on her tantrum. Rodriguez, a new addition to the cast of the ABC hit as hot-headed police officer Ana-Lucia, was pulled over in the wee hours of Dec. 1 after her black Mercedes was spotted weaving across the road. After bombing a field sobriety test, she was hauled off to jail. Costar Cynthia Watros was picked up 15 minutes earlier for drunken driving. While she presumably had a less dramatic response, she was also taken to jail and charged. Both stars coughed up the $500 bail and are scheduled to appear in Kaneohe District Court on Dec. 29. Rodriguez is no stranger to the Hawaiian legal system. Last week, she made good on several driving-related fines. Rodriguez forked over a $357 fine for driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone in Oahu on Nov. 1 and a $300 fine for going 90 mph in a 35 mph zone on Oct. 20; she had previously paid $197 for going 80 mph in a 50 mph zone on Aug. 24. The Fast and the Furious actress' DUI charge could result in more serious trouble. Prosecutors in Los Angeles are investigating whether the arrest constituted a violation of her probation for two bad-driving incidents in 2003. If she is found in violation, Rodriguez could get jail time. (As reported by E! Online)

Rhode Island Legalizes Medical Marijuana
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Rhode Island on Tuesday became the 11th state to legalize medical marijuana and the first since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that patients who use the drug can still be prosecuted under federal law. ADVERTISEMENT
The House overrode a veto by Gov. Don Carcieri, 59-13, allowing people with illnesses such as cancer and AIDS to grow up to 12 marijuana plants or buy 2.5 ounces of marijuana to relieve their symptoms. Those who do are required to register with the state and get an identification card.
Federal law prohibits any use of marijuana, but Maine, Vermont, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Washington allow it to be grown and used for medicinal purposes.
The U.S. high court ruled June 6 that people who smoke marijuana because their doctors recommend it can still be prosecuted under federal drug laws, even if their states allow it.
Federal authorities, however, have conceded they are unlikely to prosecute many medicinal marijuana users.
"I'm sure everybody in this room knows at least one person who would have benefited from medical marijuana," Rep. Thomas Slater, who has cancer, told fellow lawmakers before the vote. Slater said he doesn't use marijuana now but it could become part of his treatment in the future.
Surprisingly, there is no mention of the Black Crowes tour that just went through there last week. I'm sure that was the deciding factor.

LOHAN ADMITS SEE HAS BEEN FOOLING US...
Teen actress Lindsay Lohan, who was hospitalized in Miami this week suffering from asthma, says dabbling in drugs and battling bulimia pushed her close to emotional and physical collapse. “I knew I had a problem and I couldn’t admit it,” Lohan, the star of movies such as “Mean Girls” and “Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen,” told Vanity Fair magazine. “I was making myself sick. I was sick and I had people sit me down and say, ’You’re going to die if you don’t take care of yourself,”’ she said in the magazine’s latest issue, which hit newsstands Wednesday. Story continues below ↓ advertisement Lohan said she used drugs “a little” but quickly tried to retract the admission and denied that she had taken cocaine. “I don’t want people to think that I’ve done ... you know what I mean? It’s kind of a sore subject,” she said. Lohan’s publicist called Vanity Fair the day after the interview to try to get the confession omitted from the article, the New York Post reported. She had us fooled the whole time! Except for the fact that she can't drive worth a damn!In an apparent U-turn from interviews last year, the actress admitted fighting the eating disorder bulimia, which caused her to lose weight at an alarming rate. It was when she saw footage of herself on a “Saturday Night Live” television appearance looking skeletal that Lohan became aware of how ill she really was. “I saw that ’SNL’ after I did it. My arms were disgusting. I had no arms,” she said. Her physical condition led to a two-week hospitalization with a swollen liver and kidney infection last year. Lohan was hospitalized Monday after experiencing breathing difficulties in her hotel room in Miami, spokeswoman Leslie Sloane told Reuters. Sloane said the actress, who has suffered from asthma since childhood, was “resting comfortably” while she remained under observation and expects to be discharged Wednesday.
