VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland has posted the following message on the band's official web site:
"I was going to go into this long diatribe about the further injustices of celebrity reporting but its redundant. Regarding my plea, 'no contest' does not mean guilty! The chances of me winning a trial are 50/50, depends on honesty of the participants. The only thing that I would like to be known is that my urine was held for almost 4 months. For a prescription diazepam? Wow! someone has a bizarre fetish!"
As previously reported, Weiland was sentenced to a six-month stint in a drug program and was placed on probation and ordered to repay the owner of a parked vehicle he rammed shortly before his October arrest on the misdemeanor DUI charge.
Weiland, 36, previously was placed in a live-in detoxification program after an earlier arrest in May 2003 for heroin possession. In 1999, he served jail time for repeatedly violating his probation on drug charges and for failing to complete drug rehabilitation stints.

Another metal hero rapdily approaches his 40's. Now that I think about it, the guys from Black Sabbath and a least one Iron Maiden member are over 50. How odd is that to think about?

Random musings from Slash...
This much I know
Slash, guitarist, 38, Los Angeles
Sanjiv Bhattacharya Sunday July 25, 2004 The Observer
Any girl that's going to look at me and go 'I like that guy' is trouble, or she's looking for trouble. But I'm actually a pretty mild-mannered guy. So the girls I ended up with were a handful.
One of the biggest mistakes I apparently ever made was giving up the name Guns N' Roses. But I couldn't care less. Axl is doing exactly what I assumed he would do with it, which is run it into the ground.
I was 37 when I had my first kid. He was conceived in London at Ronnie Wood's house. I'd been drinking nothing but Guinness for two weeks and my wife got pregnant. So I always hold up Guinness as the real deal.
No regrets - that's my motto. Things happen the way they happen and I accept them as such. I'm also totally used to expecting the unexpected.
I'm not what you call superstitious. I'm not worried about ladders or umbrellas or any of that shit.
But I know you should never get a blowjob before you go on stage.
I never had any ambitions with money. I had no interest in it, no real respect for it. Money will turn your life in all sorts of twisted directions if you don't get a handle on it. So my wife helps me. She was a madam back in her day. She knows money backwards and forwards.
I get very insecure before we go on. I just sit by myself and play my guitar because I'm scared I might have forgotten how. And I still never hardly look at the audience, I shake my hair in front of my face. That whole Top Hat thing and the hair has always been a way of hiding.
I love rock'n'roll and stupidity. And the twain meet on the same ground all the time.
Monetary stuff really does please girls. There are some things, possessions, that they really enjoy and they're really expensive.
Keith Richards gave me the best advice: 'Never leave a rehearsal.' And it's true, man, you've gotta hang in there. It means a lot of things.
I got very addicted to sex at one point. I'd keep three or four different rooms in one hotel so I could bounce around between them. That was over the top and that took me to therapy. It was during my first marriage, too, which is pretty sad. That first marriage was a big mistake.
I looked like a mini-Slash when I was little. I've always had long hair. I couldn't give a shit about the afterlife at this particular point in time. It is whatever it's going to be and, obviously, if you're a really horrible person it's not going to be pleasant.
I don't believe in AA. Some of the steps make sense, but I don't believe in being part of that institution.
I just burned out on the process of doing drugs all the time, dealing with people that nobody should have to deal with just to keep my buzz going. It becomes pathetic. And the dope's not as good any more either.
I'm a naturally paranoid workaholic. It's all about music. Listening, playing, doing whatever needs to be done 25/8. My whole existence is based on music - I don't call it career. I'm probably one of the most dedicated musicians you'll ever meet.
I've died a couple of times in hospital and I've still come out alive at the end of it, but I try not to get philosophical. It's too heavy. I think when there's a destiny involved, a path to follow, and a philosophy of life and all that shit, then you're taking yourself too seriously. I'm not in control. I'm not driving this bus.
The only thing I miss about Stoke is my family. They're all very tight knit and never been to London most of them. I didn't see them all until we played Wembley and they drank everything in our dressing room. Cleaned us out completely. When we came off stage, there was nothing left. Very British - didn't matter what it was, it was gone.
I have gone to church five times over the past 23 years. I went to a monastery once when I was in the seventh grade and I got bit by a rattlesnake. I had the venom sucked out and was sent home. That was obviously a pretty heavy experience.
Never watch Spinal Tap before you go on stage either. I had a guitar that had the knobs go to 11, and Axl said, 'Is that what you're going to use tonight?' I said, 'Yeah!' And he had a fit. He went crazy.
Try to be smart in the moment doing whatever you are doing.

From www.blabbermouth.netA bench warrant has been issued for Scott Weiland's arrest after the VELVET REVOLVER singer did not appear at a probation status hearing on Friday (July 30), according to MTV.com. Weiland's lawyer characterized the warrant as a technicality and called it standard practice when a hearing is rescheduled, noting that the hearing has been pushed back to Tuesday. The hearing was supposed to determine whether the probation Weiland received from pleading no contest to driving under the influence would affect his probation from a prior drug-possession case. Weiland's lawyer Anthony Brooklier said that because Scott had a full schedule of performing and traveling, he had requested two weeks ago that the court reschedule the hearing. "It makes it sound pejorative to say there's a warrant," Brooklier said. "You knew this guy would not even not show up for a hearing. The court agreed to put [the hearing] over [until Tuesday], and they issue a bench warrant and hold it. That's what it really amounts to."

VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland has issued the following statement in response to an MTV News report that a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
"They eat their young. Once again the media is scrambling, chomping at the bit to find a morsel of information on me that would signify my destruction. MTV News, now fodder for hungry maggot offspring of the fat executives who don't give a fuck that my wife and children are embarrassed and shamed by your continuous lies and lack of journalistic integrity. Are you so bored with my personal happiness that you hover like carrion lying in wait, meditating and concocting a headline that you only hope will happen? Feed off of your own fat fuckers!!! This goes for all media whores!!!"

VELVET REVOLVER's Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) and ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS member Dean DeLeo are among the noted guitarists who will appear on the upcoming children's album "Sing a Song With Six Strings", due out October 5 from Sony Wonder, the family division of Sony Music Entertainment.
Executive produced by Eddie Kramer (JIMI HENDRIX, KISS), the album features an eclectic mix of artists and draws from rock, blues, adult contemporary and country music.
"Sing A Song With Six Strings" includes six never before released songs that were written and/or recorded specifically for this collection by Slash, Kyle Cook, Marc Ford, Vernon Reid, Craig Ross and Dean DeLeo. Additional tracks include Carol Perkins' "All Mama's Children", Keb' Mo's "Grandma's Hands" and Santana's classic "Let The Children Play", off his "Festival" album.
Slash elaborates on his track "Sing A Song Of Sixpence": "I did it in the style I felt most comfortable... rock n' roll. When it was finished, I played it for my then one-year-old son London and I got smiles of approval. I figured it must have hit the mark!"

Scott Weiland got good news on Tuesday when he appeared in a Pasadena, California, court — the judge overseeing his probation from two felony charges of drug possession deemed his efforts to stay clean a success and granted the singer permission to leave the country for Velvet Revolver's European tour.
At his probation status hearing, Weiland received a certificate from Genesis, a nearby treatment facility, for completing a six-month program there. Pasadena Superior Court Commissioner Collette Serio also noted that all of Weiland's drug tests have come out negative. While Velvet Revolver tour Europe, the singer will have to continue periodic drug testing.
"The judge congratulated [Weiland] for complying with everything," Weiland spokesperson Mitch Schneider said. "They were very happy with his participation in the [rehab] program, and that he had been so cooperative.
"The judge even congratulated him on his success with Velvet Revolver and apologized for the technicality," Schneider said, referring to a bench warrant issued on Friday and held until Tuesday to ensure Weiland's appearance in court. Schneider said the court had forgotten to take Weiland's scheduled appearance on Friday off the record once it had been moved to Tuesday.
Now that Weiland's completed the terms of his sober-living program for the possession offense, he's scheduled to continue after-care counseling and testing while serving three years of probation for pleading no contest to driving under the influence. Under the terms of that probation, he's required to enroll in another six-month drug-treatment program, which, like Genesis, will allow him to come and go, and he also must attend three Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week for the next three years.
In addition, his DUI sentence requires him to pay restitution to the owner of the parked vehicle he struck. A hearing on that matter is scheduled for September 9.
Weiland's next probation status hearing is scheduled for October 1.

Matt Sorum posts on official site:
Hello Velvet Revolver People,
This is the first entry in my diary. Everything has been going so crazy this is the first time I've had a chance to sit and reflect on what's been happening. Right now I'm on a plane back from playing the Rolling Rock festival. Me and Scott took a later flight back to L.A. than the rest of the band so we could sleep a bit, but got to the airport to find our plane had been delayed 5hrs. With no other flights out we waited. Missing home. It's really a drag. Sometimes it's hard dealing with all the travel. I love playing with this band so much, but sometimes I get bummed about all the hassle in between. But nevertheless I really feel like this is the greatest band I've ever been in. And as you all know I've been in a few. So much hard work has gone into putting this together and now everything is moving. The American tour was amazing. The fans were better than ever and made us all feel so good to be playing for you. Thank you so much. Sometimes my life feels like a dream, very surreal. As a kid it was all I ever thought about. Rock and Roll was always in my blood. And it's good that our fans feel that way too. Just finished shooting the video for "Fall To Pieces" last week, I think it's going to be amazing. Back to L.A. now to pack, then off to Europe. 5 weeks there and then we are working on a big tour of the States in October.
Can't wait!!! Love to all of our fans and thank you again,
Matt Sorum Drums and Vocals

VELVET REVOLVER bassist Duff McKagan recently spoke to Launch Radio Networks about the video for "Fall To Pieces", the second single from the group's new album, "Contraband". The clip, which takes place in a setting reminiscent of Hollywood clubs of the Seventies like the Starwood, not only featured the band, but their wives as well. McKagan said about the shoot, "Um, yeah, we had some of our wives in there, and [singer] Scott's [Weiland] wife, Mary, which the song was basically written around — the premise of his life falling down all around him, and he was separated from his wife and his two kids. And it was just, you know, kinda just — it's a family vibe. We're all in this together."

VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) has posted the following message in the "Diary" section of the group's web site:
"Hello all of you loyal VELVET REVOLVER fans. It's Matt here making my second entry into my diary. Have been on tour in Europe around three weeks now. The shows have been amazing. "We started in Denmark at a festival. Beautiful outdoor gig. Then onto Helsinki, Finland. The weather has been outstanding. The Finish people don't get much nice weather so people were in the streets. Scott [Weiland] and I were walking and listening to classical musicians in the square of Helsinki. Astounding musicians. Then we headed to Stockholm, Sweden. "To this day in all of my travels I don't think I have ever seen so many beautiful women. Perfect summer there. Out on the town both nights surrounded by stunning Swedish babes. I was loving it. Hit a place called Cafe Opera. Then to my homeland of Norway. Played Oslo, about a hundred miles outside of Oslo is a town called Sorumsand. My father's side is Norwegian so I definitely feel a connection to this beautiful place and its people. After Norway headed to Brussels. Out on the town that night with Scott, Mary, Dave, his wife Christine. A gig in Berlin after that. Great gig followed by the most tragic news I have ever had to hear.
"After finishing the encore Duff walked me outside to tell me that my best friend and soul mate, Drac, my black Lab, had passed away back in Los Angeles. I was crushed. I've had him for over 10 years not even realizing he had died on his 11th birthday. He was always so clever. Needless to say the next few gigs for me were very difficult. I know there are a lot of you out there that understand. I got Drac when he was 8 weeks old while still in GNR. That beautiful boy went through everything with me: The breakup of GUNS, I was married once so he comforted me during my divorce, my drug and alcohol problems, rehab, some bad times. But on a more up note he also lived life like a rock star!!!!!
"At my Malibu house he shared my pool with many naked women. I would say Drac has probably seen more beautiful naked women than most guys I know!!! Not to sound sick but he's probably kissed more, too. When I moved to Beachwood Canyon near the Hollywood Sign I threw crazy parties that became legendary in Hollywood. We would have great jam sessions with members of ALICE IN CHAINS, MARILYN MANSON, Steven Stills, Tommy Lee, Randy Castillo, Slash of course. Any many, many more.
"Drac was there for it all. So by remembering him that way it is easier to deal with even though. His loss is the worst I've ever experience. Being that I can't go home, I've arranged that Drac take his final ride in a black stretch limousine. I know Drac was aware of my happiness with my new band and I think let go knowing that everything is going to be alright with me now. I am going to get his name tattooed on my arm as a reminder of his love and understanding. His sensitivity and sweetness. Long live the greatest rock and roll dog of all times DRAC SORUM!
"Just played Vienna. On our way to Munich. "Remember. Be good to one another and keep rockin'!"

VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland has posted the following message on the group's web site:
"If there was a turning point for me over the last year and a half it was the day 'Fall To Pieces' was written. The night before, I had just gotten arrested. It wasn't the first time obviously, but to the point of which I had sunk in my soul had seemed as if there was a bottomless oblivion that I would never be able to crawl out of. I had lost my wife and children recently, my old band [STONE TEMPLE PILOTS] had fallen apart, and now the spectre of losing my freedom loomed over me like dark heavy wet blankets. The only thing positive in my life was the new band VELVET REVOLVER. New blood. New start. The song symbolizes both. It really is the cornerstone of this record for me; if it wouldn't have happened, the record wouldn't have happened. The only way to be real about the subject matter of the song was to tell the truth on film. It wasn't hard to sell this to the band, they lived it with me.
I felt Kevin Kerslake would be the only director that could possibly get me to the point of reliving some of those narcotic nightmares and re-drudging some of the pain out of the old wounds that have healed from [wife] Mary's and my 12-year relationship. In short, it was the most difficult video I've ever done from a fear perspective, yet at times with beautiful, sweet memories that are chronicled on paper and in the heart and mind. All in all it was somethin' else! 'She's still my little Rock-n-Roll'"

According to a posting at the VELVET REVOLVER fan site Velvet-Revolver.com, VELVET REVOLVER were "treated very badly" by a group of audience members during the band's appearance at the Rock Am See festival in Konstanz, Germany on Saturday (August 28).
A few people in the crowd were reportedly shouting for "GUNS N' ROSES" in a move that was "very disrespectful towards the band in general and [singer] Scott [Weiland] and [guitarist] Dave [Kushner] in particular."
Scott reportedly asked the audience to "come on stage and sing yourselves if you want GN'R," and later threw his megaphone into the crowd during "Sex Type Thing".

People.co.uk reports that VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland freaked out during a CD signing session at the Piccadilly Virgin Megastore on Friday (September 3) in London after seeing a sticker on the band's CD which said, "Featuring members of GUNS N' ROSES," but contained no mention of Weiland's old band, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. Weiland demanded the sticker be peeled off all stock and the band asked for non-alcoholic beer and fresh fruit at the appearance.
