ZOMBIE RUMORED TO HAVE BEGUN FILMING...Despite previous reports of delays, Fangoria has been tipped off that shooting on Rob Zombie’s HALLOWEEN has quietly begun—as the outcry over the writer/director’s vision of Michael Myers’ saga grows more heated. According to their source, Zombie began yesterday with some soundstage work deep in the heart of Hollywood. And reports are coming in that devoted fans of the franchise savvy enough to know the location of the HALLOWEEN production offices are expressing their disdain over Zombie’s re-imagining. Usually, the genre’s greatest detractors who publicly voice their judgment come in the guise of religious zealots or parenting groups; however, this morning, picketers on Sunset Boulevard wielded signs of protest that proclaimed Zombie was “raping” a classic, along with various other phrases that cried for a halt to the production. They’ve since disappeared—whether calling it a day or ushered away by security is unknown. We’ll let you know more as HALLOWEEN’s shoot, and our coverage of it, continues.

ROB ZOMBIE Kills 'Halloween' Theme Song, Revokes MYERS' Driver's License Rob Zombie recently spoke to MTV.com about his upcoming highly anticipated remake of one of horror's most beloved slasher films, "Halloween". "Michael Myers does not know how to drive in this movie," Zombie told MTV.com over the weekend. "[Myers in the station wagon] always bothered me. They would always play that off like someone must have given him lessons, but you know no one gave him lessons! He's in a maximum-security prison! So, no, he doesn't drive." It's one of the sure-to-be-controversial revisions that Zombie is making to the classic John Carpenter flick. Realizing that the blueprint has simply been Xeroxed too many times, the ultra-violent filmmaker is now entering the final scenes of an intense 38-day shoot with wrestler/actor Tyler Mane as Myers, 18-year-old Scout Taylor-Compton as imperiled babysitter Laurie Strode and Malcolm McDowell as the eccentric Dr. Loomis. "I want to make Loomis a man with a tremendous ego," said McDowell, dressed in black and draped in a beige trench coat that evokes predecessor Donald Pleasence. "[He's all about] getting a book out of it, which of course he has done, he's a best-seller ... he's the psychiatrist whose lifelong work is Michael Myers. He's obviously not a very good one, is he?" Rob Zombie's 'Halloween' Trailer When?! More Details!
Writer/Director Rob Zombie has been quite busy today on his MySpace page promoting his upcoming reenvisioning of Halloween, which hits theaters August 31. Besides the six new pictures we showed you earlier, he just announced that the first trailer will attached to all prints of Gridnhouse on April 6! In addition, he posted an article from the USA Today, which can be found inside. 'Halloween' returning in Zombie-vision format Michael Myers isn't just a murderer, he's misunderstood.
So says Rob Zombie, who is bringing Michael back to the movies in Halloween, opening in August.
"It starts off when he's a kid," says Zombie, director of The Devil's Rejects and House of 1,000 Corpses. "Act 2 is him in an asylum."
Zombie's films are notorious for their twisted gore, but that's not what drives people to movies, he says. "They have to care about the characters. Michael Myers in the past is usually a stunt man wearing that mask. He's a fully formed character in this."
And that famous mask — in the original, it was a Capt. Kirk Star Trek mask painted white — gets a back story, Zombie says.
Gore may not be what sells a movie, but this Halloween will have Zombie's bloody fingerprints on it. "It's a very hard R — as extreme as it can be. The violence is brutal and it's real."
Jamie Lee Curtis played a babysitter stalked by Myers in the 1978 original. In this version, Scout Taylor-Compton plays the role. Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon, plays Michael's mom.
"Michael Myers is a character that for the last 28 years has degenerated into a popular Halloween character," Zombie says. "People will be shocked he's back to being a hard-core terrifying character."

I agree in what a lot of other people have been posting around the net, that it looks like an update of the original from the trailer and not really a retelling, but I'm sure they're not gonna give too much away. It even had Michael with the sheet and glasses on!
Either way, I'm definitely thinking about checking it out.

Rob Zombie's 'HALLOWEEN'... Rob answers some questions
Writer/Director Rob Zombie has been pretty quiet as of late while he edits his remake to the classic John Carpenter film, Halloween, which is slated for release August 31 from Dimension Films. Today he took some of his free time to update his MySpace for the film and answer some fan questions.
- - >
Friday, April 20, 2007 a few answers
Here are a few answers to your questions.
IS JAMIE LEE CURTIS GOING TO POP UP IN IT SOMEWHERE EITHER AS A CAMEO OR A SMALL ROLE?
No, Jamie Lee Curtis does not appear in the film. Obviously I think she is great, but I also thought her presence would break the reality of this new film.
DOES JOHN CARPENTER HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE NEW MOVIE?
No, other than wishing me well with the project John does not have any involvement.
INSTEAD OF HAVING DANIELLE HARRIS PLAY ANNIE WAS THERE ANY THOUGHT OF HAVING HER PLAY LAURIE?
No, Danielle never wanted to play Laurie. She has always been a fan of the original Annie character and wanted to create the new Annie.
HOW MUCH, IF ANY, CGI WAS USED IN THE FILM MAKING PROCESS?
There are no CGI effects used in this film at all. Everything is an "old school" style gag.
I KNOW THAT CLOCKWORK ORANGE IS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE MOVIES. HOW DID YOU APPROACH MALCOLM MCDOWELL AND WHAT WAS IT LIKE TO WORK WITH HIM?
I am a huge fan of Malcolm and yes A Clockwork Orange is my favorite film. Malcolm was a total blast to work with. He gave a 100% everyday and has created a fresh version of Loomis that is going to blow you guys away. We really get to know Loomis and follow his journey.
HOW HAS THE INSTANT FEEDBACK OF FORUMS, SUCH AS MYSPACE OR MESSAGE BOARDS IN GENERAL, INFLUENCED YOU AS A DIRECTOR? DO THE LIKES OR THE DISLIKES OF YOUR FANBASE INFLUENCED YOUR DECISIONS?
No, as a director you have to hold strong your vision. That is the only way something special can happen. "Too many cooks in the kitchen" is a recipe for disaster. I love the fans, but unfortunately the fans are usually basing their opinions on rumors and false information spread on-line.
I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU FILMED ON SOME OF THE SAME STREETS AS THE ORIGINAL; WILL ANY OF THE HOUSES FROM THE ORIGINAL APPEAR IN YOUR FILM AT ALL?
Yes, I filmed in Pasadena in and around some of the same locations. In a few scenes you can see some of the famous houses in the background.
DID YOU GET TO WORK WITH ANY OTHER FOLKS WHO WORKED ON THE ORIGINAL HALLOWEEN? HOW CONSCIOUS ARE YOU WITH REGARD TO RECREATING HOW THE MOVIE IS PHOTOGRAPHED?
No, I didn't speak to anyone. As far as the photography I didn't try to recreate the look of the original. This movie has to stand as a fresh film not a copy.
ANY PLANS FOR SEQUELS? WHERE WOULD YOU WANT TO TAKE THE FRANCHISE?
I'm sure if the movie does well they will make a sequel. I have no plans to be involved.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE HALLOWEEN TO RE-CREATE? THERE WERE SO MANY OTHER FILMS, WHY HALLOWEEN?
I didn't choose Halloween. Halloween chose me.

Today shock rocker turned director Rob Zombie posted another new still from his remake of Halloween, which hits theaters August 31. In the new still you'll see Danielle Harris' character with someone peaking in from the window behind her. In other news.... here is a recent article from Entertainment Weekly regarding the film... Entertainment Weekly article - Movie Preview - HalloweenJeez, what are we up to now? Seven? Eight? Actually, try nine. Time flies when you're running a franchise into its fourth decade. Ever since John Carpenter first unleashed his masked maniac Michael Myers in 1978, the trick-or-treat thrillers have spilled more and more blood to less and less effect. But in the lucrative world of horror movies, nothing stays dead when there's a few more bucks to be made. In this latest installment, we find out what happened to the troubled preteen Myers in the years between his first holiday kill and when he busted out of the asylum years later. Call it a prequel, if you want. Just don't call it Halloween 9. ''I had no interest in the series,'' says writer-director Rob Zombie. ''I thought the first film was great, but come on, when you're tacking a '9' onto the end of a movie, who cares? What I liked about this is that it was a fresh start.'' Zombie is actually an interesting choice to revive the slasher saga — and, in a lot of ways, the only really compelling thing about this movie. You may not have particularly enjoyed his previous gorefests, House of 1,000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, but there's no denying that the former shock rocker has real talent behind the camera. As for the cast, there's the always-creepy Malcolm McDowell, stepping into the shoes of Dr. Loomis (played earlier in the series by Donald Pleasence), and 18-year-old newcomer Scout Taylor- Compton as the imperiled Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis' role in the original). But perhaps the most notable bit of casting is the man behind the mask. Instead of an anonymous stunt guy, this time Myers is played by an actual actor: 6-foot-10-inch former wrestler Tyler Mane (Sabretooth from X-Men). ''They wanted Michael to be more than just a guy who plunges a knife into people,'' Mane says. ''They wanted to make him a real character.'' A character we'll no doubt get to know even better in part 10.

Malcolm McDowell Talks 'Halloween' Trilogy
It's already been revealed that IF Rob Zombie's Halloween performs well the weekend of August 31, that Dimension plans on unrolling a new series of sequels in the franchise. So why everyone is getting worked up over the recent news is beyond me... but whatever, read on for details from Malcolm McDowell (Dr. Loomis) about his contractual obligation to do three Halloween films.
"I've signed for three," Malcolm McDowell tells Rotten Tomatoes. "How about that? They obviously think it's going to be a big hit."
Having never seen a "Halloween" movie before, McDowell is confident that his portrayal of Loomis will be unique, "I have to tell you that I've never seen Halloween 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7. I must be one of the only people on the planet never to have seen any of the films and I'm so glad because I asked the director, Rob Zombie, whether he thought I should see them and he said, 'No, better no.'"

ROB ZOMBIE Says New 'Halloween' Scenes Are What Film Needed
Rob Zombie has commented on the reports that he has quietly gone about shooting new material for his upcoming remake of the horror classic "Halloween", including a brand new ending for the film. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, Zombie spent a week shooting additional scenes of "violence, gore and bloodshed," including six new death sequences and the new finale, which was described as "quite gruesome." Sources told Launch that the additional scenes were shot as a result of audience response to a test screening of the film's initial cut that was held last month.
Said Zombie: "Dimension [Films] let me go film a couple new things that I thought the film needed and that's what I did. This is a good thing, so don't go worrying that something has gone wrong. The film still opens August 31 and kicks total ass. 'Nuff said."

ROB ZOMBIE Says 'Halloween' Is In Its 'Final Stages'
Rob Zombie has issued the following update on his latest film, an adaptation of the 1978 horror classic "Halloween":
"Well, we are in the final stages of 'Halloween' here. Starting on Monday [July 23] we begin color timing and mixing the sound and then I am done! Soon Michael [Myers, the film's lead character] will be back on the big screen where he belongs."
Zombie recently commented on the reports that he has quietly gone about shooting new material for "Halloween", including a brand new ending for the film. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, Zombie spent a week shooting additional scenes of "violence, gore and bloodshed," including six new death sequences and the new finale, which was described as "quite gruesome." "Halloween" is Zombie's third effort as a screenwriter and feature director.
Zombie was rumored to be touring this fall as special guest of BLACK SABBATH offshoot HEAVEN AND HELL, but that slot has been taken by ALICE COOPER.
Zombie is preparing a live album for release in August and is also said to be working on a box set from his previous band, WHITE ZOMBIE.
