It has been awhile since I have posted, and much to everyone's dismay I am back with a new thread of my own. Let's see if anyone takes this down.
This will be an ongoing thread of subject's that really make me say " Why do we even care". Let's start with
ANNA NICHOLE SMITH.
Oh my god, why do we even care if this bimbo is dead or not. Sure, I am a parent and should care that she left behind a daughter...but let's ask ourselves "was it even hers"? I mean, we are in a 3 way battle who the father is...and I am really surprised that Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband is even rumored to be one of the contenders. We have a photographer that claims he is and then their is Howard K. Stern. If this guy wasn't enough of a leech when she was alive he is even more of one when she is dead.
But on to the the real truth of the matter. She married a rich old guy with old balls and alot of money. She claims that it was for love but let's face it....I would sleep with Joan Rivers for the money even though she looks like a special effect nightmare straight out of a Wes Craven movie. Then, right in the middle of their "magical" marriage....he dies leaving her all the money. Whoops Anna, there are 5 kids that are going to fight you for it and they have lawyers and you have....you have.....65 pounds of pure butter rich cottage cheese lactose fat and you are unattractive. So you lose. But what ...you appeal... then you fuck the judge and win.....but wait again...they (the kids) take you back to court and you lose; and this shit actually makes the news? Then fast forward 5 years. you take some pills....lose weight, get knocked up from someone ( see paragraph above for details) in the middle of giving birth your son dies ( wow) and now you die. In the middle of a war ( conflict), Presidential Bids ( go Gore and Edwards) and whether or not Lost will actually make some sense to me I then have to be subjected to " Breaking News..Anna Nicole Smith is dead". I for one am glad that she is.....blood sucking leetch that she was, and I do feel sorry for her daughter; but for the fact that she has to live knowing that this piece of shit from Texas that did not even graduate High School and fucked everything and anything that moved and had a pulse was her Mother. You call me cold...insensitive.....that may be; but deep dow you feel the same way too.

I agree with ya that the whole thing is way over hyped. The media is way too geared toward the tabloid side of things these days. I am not really an Anna Nicole fan but this is shaping up to be the OJ trial of this decade... i will watch halfheartedly.

Well, just like the kid said about it being the 'new O.J. trial', people in this country are unbelievable when it comes to this shit. Just take a look to your side next time you're standing in line at the Grocery store. All you'll see is shit like this. I for one, don't really see the big draw, but I'm sure we all know somebody who is big into the Hollywood tabloid scene. (Usually women 23 - 37ish or so)
I guess if you don't have anything else to do it could be fun, kinda like a hobby or something, being able to keep up with all of it - some true, some false.
I guess I can see both sides of it, but I for one don't care who gets Anna Nichole's baby or estate, whether Lindsey Lohan is in rehab or who Justin Timberlake is fucking dating now. It's got nothing to do with me, but I have no problem with people who enjoy that shit.

I, for one, am with Steele on this one. Why is there so much media hype is my question. This coming from the man who called me singing "Beat It" the day Michael Jackson was acquitted?

Ask and ye shall receive. It is time once again for me to go on the offensive while certain people go on the defensive.
The weeks rant is about.....the ECONOMY.
Now, I know a thing or too about this subject, and if you are 30 or under you should know what is going on here. Some time ago and certain group; let's call them EXTREMISTS decide to go ahead a blast a 747 into a building not once but twice there by sending the US economy into a whirlwind of declining Interest rates and a never ending diphtheria of car ads. Now; with the Interest rates down to the lowest in about 10 years everyone decides to jump on the band wagon and start refinancing their homes in extract cash out to do what ever with. In the meantime, the car companies are losing money in hopes that with the APR on car loans down that this will cause in surge in units out the door. It does....and look were Ford and GM are now. (But that is a different story) Now, back to the Economy....so here you have ordinary people all at once refinancing not once...but twice...and sometimes even a third time ( dumb bastards) in hopes that they are going to be the next Trump or something meanwhile home prices are on the rise. See, with a drop in Mortgage rates now the homebuilders are banking on the fact that THEY can push more product out....bit hold on....MORTGAGE companies decide that they too are going to get in on this and they start bringing out HYBRID LOANS ( these are 2/28 Adjustable Rate Mortgages and Interest only and even some they go off of the LIBOR and Treasury markets) BRILLIANT. Not only are we spending more than we can afford to, but we as the consumer purposely do this in spite of better judgment. DUMB BASTARDS. If you only knew what you what were doing; it is alot like Cortez thinking he could conquer the Aztecs....sounds good at the time, wait....we are FUCKED. But like Cortez soon people are starting to see their dreams slip away. Rates go up....values in markets fall...and the economy comes to a screeching halt; and who do you think gets the blame for this...the poor sap jack nut bastard how fucking signed on the line knowing damn well he can not afford a Mortgage payment of $2,000 a month on a salary of $2,400. Nope it come down to the Mortgage companies. Not to say that some were out of their minds to lend to these deadbeats...but really people; we as a society need to be able to point the finger at our selves once in a while and say " I fucked up".

I have just read Steele's post from April, a busy month for me.
Yes, the economy is fucked up; I agree. The blame is two fold. 5-10% of the blame can be sent to the person who KNOWS that the individual cannot afford to pay for the house...BUT no one is forcing the individual to sign on the dotted line. This reminds me of a story...
I was in High School and we were watching some video from Dateline or something back during the early 90's when we were in a recession. A married couple with a child were complaining how the bank knew they could not afford the payments on the house, but they gave the loan to them anyway. The real question is "How come YOU didn't know you couldn't afford the house?"
People make lots of mistakes pure and simple, but people should not make too many mistakes with their money. 1. People usually have a "set" income per week/month. You know how much you are going to make. 2. People's bills are usually "set" (ex: cell phone, internet, cable, mortgage, etc. The only things that aren't set are the credit card-which depends on how much YOU spend, and the electric, which you can sometimes "ball park" depending on the temperature outside)
This being said, sit down, add up how much you will make. THEN look at your bills. Can you really afford the $2,000 mortgage when you make $2,500 a month? The answer is no.
NOW, the trick is to not bitch about the situation but to find a solution.
Here are some possibilities: 1. Buy a cheaper house, save money for an even BETTER house down the road! 2. Take on a second job where you can make more money to afford the house. 3. Find a new job that pays more so that you can afford the house.
Nobody really likes a complainer. Yes it feels good to vent your troubles, but the real issue is finding the solution and not complaining about the problem. Sometimes it helps just to seek advice from peeps on the solution. That way, you at least get to vent, in the hopes of finding an answer.

You do realize that people don't think that way though right? It's kind of the American way.
I know about twenty people who live the lifestyle that they can, the other thousand people I know live waaaay beyond it. They rack up credit card debt and do stupid things like take 4 vacations per year and dress their kids in couture at the rate of $10000 annually so that they have the chance to be a little more popular. How many of you do things that you probably shouldn't? Even smoking would be considered a big luxery when you consider that you can buy the carton for the week but you have to borrow some cash to put gas in your vehicle or make your morgage. We all do it though. I'm sure I didn't need the three pairs of shoes I bought over the weekend, instead I could've used that cash to pay off a credit card....but we don't do that typically. We don't think of things in that perspective.
With the economy being what it is, and with interests rates dropping and only going up slightly in the past 4 years you have to expect that there are going to be countless suckers out there that think they will be fine with a $2000 morgage because they have credit cards. They are only thinking about the fantastic rates they can acquire a home, not that when they have to put food on the table that they are going to pay 24% interest by charging their food to their card.
All I'm saying is that people our age and younger don't think about this stuff. It's unfortunate really as I'm sure most of us were raised by parents who didn't use credit at all. My parents bought all of their cars with cash, same with their house and our vacation homes. I'm sure my dad would be mortified to know I have a credit card and owe on it, but I only have one and I think that isn't too bad considering most people I know have to juggle them just to make payments. With wanting to retire at an earlier age I've started socking more cash away in different investment opportunities that I have removed from my check before I even get it, I think that is really the only way to go about it since I still want to live a certain lifestyle. All I'm saying is this- it's nice to have a plan, but realistically most people only live for today and the now and when it's a choice between living in a house they can't afford or having to look like they aren't as prosperous to their friends they are going to make the bad choice.

AMEN!
I TOTALLY agree with you. We all do live in the moment. BUT many of these people are NOT finding solutions to their problems. They continue to rack up the debt. There are reports saying that if you had to pay cash for everything, the average American would save $800 a year. That's some nice change!
To give an example...did you pay cash or credit for your shoes? If you could ONLY have paid cash, (I'm assuming you charged them) would you have bought three of them or two? Now, I'm not hating on you for buying shoes. By all means, buy what you want. It is what you want. I myself need some shoes. BUT, I am in some debt, and currently am not using my credit card unless it is for food or gas. I pay cash for everything else. It has not been easy, but I do see it making a difference.
Many young people rack up debt for two reasons in my opinion: 1. Their parents did not teach them about Credit and how easy it is to go into debt a. This is due to parents being uncomfortable talking about money with their children (perhaps the parents are in debt) OR b. The parents are unfamiliar with the different styles of credit and how it all works 2. Young people are just not educated in credit. This SHOULD be taught in High Schhol, but due to state testing, it will never see the light of day. Personally, a course in "Credit Management" would be much better than learning Calculus (something I never used after high School)
The appeal of credit cards are great. The interest is not so great for me and MANY Americans.
In response to what you originally said, Yes, I do realize it is the American Way. However, this country will be crippled if everyone owes others money at all times.
It all starts with a plan. In order to have ANYTHING that you TRULY WANT, you WILL need a plan. I applaud you for saving money for retirement. A friend of mine got me started in saving money THIS YEAR! She told me I should have been doing this years ago, and she is correct. I am AMAZED at how much I have managed to stock pile in just seven months.
The only way to beat the "American System" is to not play by its rules!
