New Info on G.I. JOE Feature Film
Earlier today The IESB talked with producer Lorenzo diBonaventura about the upcoming "G.I. Joe" film adaptation and how it's progressing.
First off he shoots down the Viggo Mortensen casting rumour - "No, I think Viggo is too old to play it in our concept." The casting of Destro, Zartan and Hawk will be announced in the next two weeks. Also if you're a Joe vs. Cobra fan, then he says that "you will be feel incredibly happy about the movie."
They haven't discussed whether to drop the 'Real American Hero' slogan from the film title, but he does confirm that rumors of the headquarters being based in Brussels or Europe is false and that the film is aiming for a PG-13 rating.
They are seeking the help of the US military like they did with "Transformers" however in terms of techonology. Shooting begins in about five weeks with a month long shoot in Prague before traveling to numerous international and US locations.

Casting Updates for G.I. Joe
With Australian actor Sam Worthington out of the running due to commitments to James Cameron's "Avatar", three leading Hollywood hunks names are being mentioned to take over a key role in the upcoming "G.I. Joe" film adaptation.
Latino Review reports that Matthew Fox, Chris Evans and Channing Tatum are all being mentioned as candidates for the role of Duke, and Evans seems to be the winning choice amongst fanboy opinions. Either Fox or Evans would be fine by me so long as they're shirtless for most of the film's runtime.
Duke is the code name of First Sergeant Conrad S. Hauser. He is field commander and second-in-command of the G.I. Joe Team after Hawk. He is one of the key characters of G.I. Joe and a fan-favorite. He is generally regarded by fans as a main character, despite not appearing in the comic series for a number of issues, nor was he one of the original toys.

Dennis Quaid Talks "G.I. Joe"
Out doing press for the new Sony thriller "Vantage Point," Dennis Quaid talked to Collider a little about his involvement in the upcoming "G.I. Joe" feature:
He describes his character of General Hawk as "a cross between Chuck Yeager and Sgt. Rock and maybe a naïve Hugh Hefner thrown in there." He's also honest about the film's tone - "It's a big popcorn type of tent pole action movie that...it's not deep... General Hawk's aide to camp is a Victoria Secret supermodel so how serious can it be?"
What about the story? "It's set a little bit in the future, and in a way the Joe's are an international sort of special forces type of group that mainly fights these terrorists groups that spring up. It's really more like James Bond than it would be about...yeah it's more like James Bond. And with the group being Spectre - there is this evil mastermind who is behind it. I think it's going to be more like the old James Bond's - like the Dr. No's - where the mastermind has his own private island and all these people are wearing matching coveralls."
Quaid confirms that he's already begun gym training for the shoot. He'll shoot two weeks of work spread over a month for this film, and has signed for three 'Joe' pictures should it be successful.
