Lucas to shoot next ‘Indiana Jones’ in 2007‘It’s going to be the best one yet’ says the 62-year-old filmmakerBEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - George Lucas said Friday that filming of the long-awaited “Indiana Jones” movie will begin next year. Harrison Ford, who appeared in the three earlier flicks, the last one coming in 1989, is set to star again. Lucas said he and Steven Spielberg recently finalized the script for the film. “It’s going to be fantastic. It’s going to be the best one yet,” the 62-year-old filmmaker said during a break from preparing for his duties as grand marshal of Monday’s Rose Parade. Exact film locations have not been decided yet, but Lucas said part of the movie will be shot in Los Angeles. The fourth chapter of the “Indiana Jones” saga, which will hit theaters in May 2008, has been in development for over a decade with several screenwriters taking a crack at the script, but it only recently gained momentum. Lucas kept mum about the plot, but said that the latest action flick will be a “character piece” that will include “very interesting mysteries.” “I think it’s going to be really cool,” Lucas said. At the inaugural Rome Film Festival in October, the 64-year-old Ford said he was excited to team up with Lucas and Spielberg again for the fourth “Indiana Jones” installment. Ford said he was “fit to continue” to play the title role despite his age. Ford played Indiana Jones in 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” 1984’s “Temple of Doom” and 1989’s “The Last Crusade.” Lucas praised Ford for breathing life into his character. “Mostly it’s the charm of Harrison that makes it work,” he said.

The actor told UK Teletext he will read the script for the fourth movie and, if he likes what he sees, will appear once more as Indiana's father, Dr Henry Jones.
Connery said: "At the moment there's nothing decided. I haven't got the script. Everything depends on the script."
"We are writing him in whether he wants to do it or not," Lucas said on an American TV show recently.

Indiana Jones IV Villain Revealed! With all the Indiana Jones news flying around we were feeling a little left out so we decided to share some news that has come across our desk. Spoiler Warning!First, let’s confirm some details that Crud.com and other sites have posted. Contacting various sources from different levels of access to this film we can confirm most of the recent news that has hit the web. The news that Karen Allen would be back as Marion Ravenwood is accurate and truth be told, a few online sites had been sitting on this information for close to a month, no real shocker. Shia Lebeouf is a teenage motorcycle riding greaser, true. Shia LeBeouf is the son of Marion Ravenwood and Indiana Jones, true. Indy doesn’t find out about being a daddy until after he and Shia have been teamed up for a while and during a pivotal scene, true. Movie takes place in the 50’s, true. We will see Area 51 and Russian Agents, true. South American Pyramids/Temples, true. Crystal Skulls, true (13 skulls to be exact) The current script is a hybrid of scripts including Frank Darabont’s version, true. The title of the film is Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, maybe, it sure is the working title but we have been told the real title may involve something about the 13 crystal skulls. One major question remains, who’s the villain? Let’s take a look at the villains from the past Indiana Jones films before we blow our load. Spoilers Ahead! Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark we had Dr. Rene Belloq and those pesky Nazis. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom we had Mola Ram and his followers. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade we had Walter Donovan and, again, Nazis. So who will be a villain in Indy IV? Well kiddies, while most people have been assuming that Cate Blanchett will be Indy’s love interest since the announcement of her addition to the cast, several of our sources have revealed that she will actually be the villain in cahoots with the Ruskies. Can these details change? We have been told that all major story beats have been locked and only minor changes can be made at this time. I would stay close to the web during the next upcoming week as I have a feeling that more of Indy’s secrets will be revealed. No time for love for Dr. Jones this time around! Well at least not with Cate Blanchett.

Connery Rules Out "Indiana" Return
Harrison Ford, Shia La Beouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone and John Hurt are already set - but the big hold for the next "Indiana Jones" film was of course Sean Connery.
It now looks like an agreement couldn't be reached in time for the 76-year-old acting veteran to return in a cameo role which Lucas had planned and talked about previously. The following statement was issued by Connery's reps today:
"I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement. I thought long and hard about it and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with Steven and George, and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun.
I, do however, have one bit of advice for Junior: Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low, and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008 at the theater!"

"Indiana Jones IV" Shooting Update
Various small factoids have popped up about the upcoming fourth "Indiana Jones" film in an article in the Associated Press.
Half the film's runtime will consists of films shot on Los Angeles sets, another 20% will be scenes done in Hawaii which includes the film's biggest action sequences.
The lush Hamakua coastal areas surrounding Hilo, Hawaii's biggest island, are filling in as a South American rain forest. The film just wrapped the first of three weeks of filming in Hawaii, after spending a week each in New Mexico and Connecticut.
The shooting on Hilo involved 25 to 30 stunt performers and a 'vehicle over a waterfall' stunt that cost over a million dollars alone. The cast and crew are expected to finish and leave for the next location early next week.
65-year-old Harrison Ford is doing most of his own stunts, a $125 million budget is being mentioned, and producer Kathleen Kennedy says "The cleverness, the humor and the tone of Indiana Jones is very much alive and well in this movie."

Thieves Raid Indy IV Office
Over 2000 production stills, a complete production budget breakdown, possibly the script and other sensitive materials from the production office of "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" have been stolen.
Director Steven Spielberg's Universal Studio office was raided by a thief recently who quickly began offering the goods for sale to the highest bidder amongst entertainment websites.
The IESB reports that TMZ.com may have obtained some of stolen property and were on the verge of running the story on its TV division until Paramount lawyers stepped in.
The LAPD & FBI also managed to nab the thief yesterday afternoon at The Standard on Sunset in Los Angeles. Bits of the property may still be out there, and the studio has sent out an official release asking its online and media partners to discourage "taking receipt of stolen property and further disseminating it or making use of the stolen materials".

"Indiana Jones" Poster & Story NewsJust as the official site (www.indianajones.com) has released the official poster for "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," USA Today has also revealed some confirmed details from the super-secret plot. First up, the action is set at the height of the Cold War in 1957 which mean the character has aged in real time -- 19 years since 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade". Once the now quiet-life leading archaeologist is thrust back into danger, the signature Indiana Jones red line tracing across the map will take him to New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City and the jungles of Peru on a quest for South American relics with supernatural powers. Despite all the gray-hair jokes, Indy is still swinging from dangerous precipices and absorbing punches. In the process he's racing for the Crystal Skull against operatives from the Soviet Union, including Cate Blanchett as the seductive Agent Spalko, and Ray Winstone as an unethical rival archaeologist. The theory behind the skulls themselves are that they are shaped by either higher powers, alien powers, or an ancient Mayan civilization.

Shia LaBeouf Takes On New "Indiana" Trilogy
"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" may well be the film that kicks off a second Indiana Jones trilogy says Jim Windolf in a follow-up piece to his extensive report for Vanity Fair earlier this week.
When Spielberg was asked if this film leaves open room for another one, the director responded with a typical brush off - "Oh, I don't know. I haven't even thought about that. I'm still in the cutting room. I can't even think beyond the next cut."
Producer Frank Marshall is more direct about the possibility - "I don't think so. We're all getting too old. We have to hand the torch to somebody else. I don't know who that's going to be."
This has lead to speculation that Ford will assume a background role as rising star Shia LaBeouf takes the punishment and the glory as an "Indiana Jones, version 2.0--an Indy in black leather for a new generation of adventure-film fans."
