A brand-new SEVENDUST track, entitled "Pieces", has been posted online at PureVolume.com.
"Pieces" comes off the group's upcoming album, "Next", due October 11 via Winedark/Universal Records.
"Next" marks the recording debut with the band of new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT). Mayo joined SEVENDUST earlier this year as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December, citing "personal issues." Lowery has since become a full-time member of DARK NEW DAY, the new "supergroup" also featuring Brett Hestla (ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) on vocals, Will Hunt (ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) on drums, Clint's brother Corey Lowery (ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) on bass, and Troy McLawhorn (ex-DOUBLE DRIVE) on guitar.
"Next" is the follow-up to "Seasons", which sold a respectable 67,808 copies in its first week of release back in October 2003 to land at position No. 14 on The Billboard 200.

From MTV News ...
Sevendust Turn Up The Heaviness, Leave Beef Behind On Next 06.30.2005 Atlanta metal act to release fifth album on October 11.
When Atlanta's Sevendust began toiling away on their fifth disc, Next, more than a year ago, the recording process was unlike anything they'd ever experienced.
For starters, Sevendust were on its own. With no label support whatsoever, the quartet was left to either fund the entire record itself, or wait around for a label to do it. The band chose the first option, and to help keep costs at a minimum, Sevendust not only decided to self-produce Next, but record it in a house instead of a studio. That decision turned out to be the best thing the band could've done, according to drummer Morgan Rose.
"There was no one really to tell us what to do — and over the past few records, there had been a lot of opinions from a lot of people on a lot of different aspects of the records," he said. "We pretty much had the reins to do what we wanted on this record, so we really were able to not worry about any outside influences. I don't want to sound too cliché, but we went back to our roots, because we were able to do some stuff that hadn't been accepted very readily over the last few records."
Rose said Sevendust were pressured by their former label, TVT, into softening their sound, when all the band wanted to do was optimize the heaviness.
"Over the last few records, the powers that be were telling us that we didn't need to be doing what we were doing," Rose explained. "We were told, 'You need to be listening to the White Stripes and the Strokes' — we were told, point blank, to go buy White Stripes and Strokes records to see what they sound like. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. It was like, 'Houston, there's a major f---ing problem here.' "
Which might explain the ferociousness of some of Next's 11 tracks, which include "Hero," "The Last Song," "Desertion" and "Pieces," the latter of which is described by Rose as "the heaviest song we've ever done, by far."
Yet some of the material is also lighter: The album's first single, "Ugly," is a mixed bag with a "huge chorus, broken-down verses and really heavy bridges," Rose said, and "Shadows in Red" shows Sevendust's softer side, and even features a viola.
"It's definitely a hybrid of heavy stuff and melodic stuff, but we don't leave much room for interpretation," he said. "It's a straightforward record."
Along with label woes, Rose is also leaving behind his feud with former Coal Chamber frontman Dez Fafara. "Enemy," one of the tracks on Seasons, lambasted Fafara for "f---ing over" Rose's wife, ex-Chamber bassist Rayna Foss-Rose (see "Rock And Roll Beef: Sevendust Rip Into Ex-Coal Chamber Frontman On 'Enemy' "). The track fueled a very public feud between the two dudes, one Rose regrets.
"I made a judgment call to acknowledge that I had been influenced to write a song about somebody, it was one of the most foolish things I've ever done," he said. "It didn't do any good. The whole mudslinging thing Dez and I did, I'll take a lot of the blame for that. I mean, I didn't want it to be out there, in the public, and there were people on the outside saying, 'This is good — it's controversy.' But ... I don't want to lay out a public apology, but I definitely should have thought twice about that. It was a pretty stupid thing to do."
Rose said Sevendust plan to tour extensively this fall, and will even make it over to Europe for the first time in the band's nine-year career, although none of those plans have been nailed down yet. The band's new label, the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records, will release Next on October 11.
"We're all excited," the drummer said. "This is the first record where we can really say, 'This is ours.' "

SEVENDUST are teaming up with innovative record label WineDark Records, which is distributed in the U.S. by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution (UMVD), for the upcoming release of their latest record, "Next". SEVENDUST are the Atlanta, GA-based rock group who clawed their way through the late 1990s and early 2000s with a string of hit albums, forming the backbone of a sound and attitude that defies genre classification. Beginning with their 1997 self-titled debut and continuing through to their most recent record, "Seasons", SEVENDUST, despite a self-described "roller-coaster ride," have sold nearly four million units in the U.S. alone and are poised to expand their domain to the rest of the world.
SEVENDUST commented in a statement: "It was amazing to see the reaction to what we had created from such a large percentage of the record industry. After weighing many options, we decided to sign with WineDark Records, who subsequently offered us our own record label imprint, 7Bros. Records. The excitement that we feel from WineDark Records is something we have never felt before. The end result is truly gratifying."
WineDark Records is the latest project from music industry executives Michael Powlen, Gary Katz, Camille M. Barbone, and Larry Stessel. Katz, Barbone and Stessel have previously spearheaded many artist projects and have helped amass a combined sales tally of well over 100 million records.
Powlen commented: "SEVENDUST coming to WineDark Records is the birth of a new and mutually beneficial relationship between a record company and band in which both collaborate on every aspect of the recording, marketing and dissemination of the music. These guys are successful because their music is truly original. They connect with their fans by communicating a mutual love and respect. Who they are on stage reflects their off-stage energy, sincerity and integrity, and in the final analysis, their music says it all."
SEVENDUST's fifth record, "Next", will be available on October 11, 2005.

Now that their run with MUDVAYNE as part of "The Masters of Horror Tour" is coming to a close, SEVENDUST are gearing up to embark on their own headlining tour in 2006. After taking a much-deserved break for the holidays (except for one show in Orlando, FL at the House of Blues on New Year's Eve), the band will criss-cross the U.S. starting January 18 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL at Revolution in support of their current studio album, "Next" (WineDark/7Bros Records, distributed by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution). NONPOINT, SOCIALBURN, WICKED WISDOM and ONE will accompany SEVENDUST on the trek. The band will be on the road throughout the year and they'll eventually venture outside the U.S. for shows in Canada and Europe.
SEVENDUST are ecstatic to be performing shows for their fans again after spending the past couple of months making promo appearances at various radio station events. The band has been chronicling their experiences on the road in a tour diary on Billboard.com. As guitarist Sonny Mayo and drummer Morgan Rose chimed in after the first week, "This tour has been the most fun for us in years!!! The response has been unreal and we can't thank our friends as well as the MUDVAYNE fans enough for making us feel welcome!!! After playing some of the hottest shows in recent memory the first three shows we finally got the temperature below a hundred and fifty degrees when we hit Chicago. You guys amaze us with your stamina to handle the heat!!! So far, every night after the show, we've been kickin' it with the guys in MUDVAYNE. It's like being on tour with family. Some of the guys from 10 YEARS and BOBAFLEX stop in too. Our bus seems to be the official gathering place for 'after-show festivities.' It's been a long time since SEVENDUST opened for someone and we have to admit, it's nice to be able to have time to hang with everybody and not have to leave 20 minutes after the show."
Here are the current tour dates, with more to be announced in the coming weeks:

SEVENDUST's newly-released fifth album, "Next" (WineDark/7Bros Records, distributed by Fontana Distribution, a division of Universal Music and Video Distribution), debuted on The Billboard 200 chart at No. 20 and has sold 98,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

SEVENDUST To Begin Recording New Album Next Week
SEVENDUST will be entering an Atlanta-area studio on July 5 to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "Next", tentatively due late 2006/early 2007 through an as-yet-undetermined label. The band have completed about 15 songs musically and are currently working on vocal melodies and lyrics, the group revealed Monday night (June 26) during an appearance on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline". The first album to feature new guitarist Sonny Mayo (ex-AMEN/SNOT) as part of the songwriting process will contain some of "the heaviest" material SEVENDUST have penned to date, according to the band.
SEVENDUST announced in April that they and their wholly owned record label 7Bros. Records have officially parted ways with the Universal-affiliated WineDark Records. The band inked a deal with WineDark in early 2005 after a lengthy stint with TVT Records. 7Bros. Records continues its distribution through Fontana/Universal Music in North America and Roadrunner/Universal Music throughout the rest of the world.
SEVENDUST were recently forced to cancel several U.S. tour dates due to a broken bone in the left hand of guitarist John Connolly.
"Next" marked the recording debut with the band of Mayo. Sonny joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who left the group mid-tour in December 2004, citing "personal issues."

SEVENDUST's sole Winedark/Universal effort, "Next", came out in October 2005. Both tracks come off the group's sixth studio album, "Alpha", due on March 6 via SEVENDUST's own label, 7 Bros. Records, which recently entered into a partnership with Asylum/Warner Music Group. Alpha SEVENDUST guitarist John Connolly recently told HeraldTribune.com that he and his bandmates will be rocking harder than ever on their upcoming U.S. tour in support of "Alpha". "We're not going to have too many broken-down moments," explained the axeman. "We've been actually running a heavier set ever since [new guitarist] Sonny [Mayo] got in the band. The fans really seem to be reacting well to it." Mayo joined SEVENDUST in early 2005 as the replacement for Clint Lowery, who joined his brother, bassist Corey Lowery (ex-STUCK MOJO), in a new band, DARK NEW DAY. Lowery quit in December 2004 with a half-dozen shows remaining on a year-ending tour, leaving the group in the lurch. "That's the only thing I think any of us were really that bitter about, because Clint going to play with his brother wasn't a surprise or anything at all," Connolly said. "I mean, I called it four years before it happened. But just the way that he did it, I could never leave the guys like that." SEVENDUST's 57-date North American tour is scheduled to begin on February 8 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Support on the trek will come from DIECAST and LEGION.

SEVENDUST: New Album Track Listing Revealed
Legendary Snake-Rock Metallers SEVENDUST will release its seventh studio album, "Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow", on April 1. The CD was produced by Sean Groove, Morgan Rose and John Connolly at Tree Sounds Studios in Atlanta, Georgia and will mark SEVENDUST's second release through the band's wholly owned record label, 7Bros. Records under Warner Music Group.
For the first time since "Animosity" (2001), the band has collaborated with outside artists. As the record gets finalized over the next few weeks, identities of the guest appearances will surface — SEVENDUST felt bringing in some outside friends (including Chris Daughtry and ALTER BRIDGE frontman Myles Kennedy) added a healthy dynamic for the project. Additionally, the band has signed on new management and feels like is a fresh new beginning for 2008!
"It was a challenging and exciting to write," says drummer Morgan Rose. "We've spent so much time with angst over our career that is was nice to in a good head space for a change while working on this project."
"There was a really relaxed vibe in the studio this time around," adds vocalist LaJon Witherspoon. "I think 'Hope and Sorrow' shows a different side of SEVENDUST. Heavy but yet still growing in a direction that explores a lot of different things musically for us. I'm excited about the album."
"Chapter VII: Hope and Sorrow" track listing:
01. Inside 02. Enough 03. Hope 04. Scapegoat 05. Fear 06. The Past 07. Prodigal Son 08. Lifeless 09. Sorrow 10. Contradiction 11. Walk Away

SEVENDUST Guitarist Releases Solo EP
HELLO DEMONS...MEET SKELETONS, the solo project of SEVENDUST guitarist Clint Lowery, has released its debut EP, entitled "Chills". The six-song, mostly acoustic EP, which was recorded in 10 days in September with Clint's brother Corey producing, chronicles Clint's recovery from personal and addiction problems in 2007. "I had this idea, I just wanted put a few songs down to kind of explain the process and maybe help someone else that kind of went through what I went through, and it's basically gonna be used for charity," Lowery told The Pulse of Radio. "I'm gonna sell it on iTunes and it was a good opportunity to kind of put something together that I can help out with and give back a little bit."
"Chills" track listing:
01. Hell's Next Door 02. This Day 03. Alive And Well 04. I'll Keep This Short 05. Devil In A Cage 06. It's Been Fun
Some of the proceeds from the EP will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with other charities to be named later.
Lowery, a founding member of SEVENDUST, rejoined the group earlier this year after stints with DARK NEW DAY and KORN.
