It's been confirmed... GN'R postpones start of tour, Stinson injured
[/b] by gunsnroses.comGuns N' Roses have announced that they are postponing the start of their world tour, which was due to start in Japan. The Japanese concerts are being rescheduled. Guns N' Roses will be able to make their two scheduled performances headlining the MyCoke festivals in South Africa at the end of the month. "I feel so bad right now," explains bassist Tommy Stinson. "I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop.' The next morning my hand looked like a balloon. I went to see my doctor, and while the good news is that it's not broken, the bad is news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. We had our last rehearsal a few days ago and shipped the gear to Japan and then this happened. I feel horrible. "I'd like to apologize to our Japanese fans that were looking forward to seeing us and know that we will we see you all soon. Again, we'd like to sincerely thank our fans worldwide for their patience and support." web.gunsnroses.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070411&content_id=a1&vkey=news&fext=.jsp

Reunion Of Original GUNS N' ROSES For A Couple Of Shows Is A 'Good Idea'
Former GUNS N' ROSES and current VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash was recently asked by Brazilian MTV about a possible reunion of the original GN'R lineup.
"It's been 12 years now… 11 years… and it just doesn't seem like one of those things that any of us are really thinking about doing," Slash said. "And I'm not saying never. I would say it would be a good idea to get, just for a couple of shows, to get the original STP [STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, former band of VELVET REVOLVER singer Scott Weiland] and the original GUNS N' ROSES just to do a couple of shows for the fun of it."
MTV Brazil: Have you listened to "Chinese Democracy" [GUNS N' ROSES' long-awaited new album]?
Slash: "I haven't heard it. It hasn't come out yet."

The VMA footage is kinda cool. Not a side of the band you are used to seeing... being on stage with no audience.
Thanks for the post!

Guns n' Roses withdraws from My Coke Fest Coca-Cola South Africa, in conjunction with its media partner, 5FM and My Coke Fest organizer Big Concerts, regrets to announce that Guns ‘n Roses will no longer form part of the line-up of the music festival taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town on April 27 and May 1 respectively. Guns ‘n Roses were forced to postpone the second leg of their global tour including appearing at My Coke Fest, due to an injury recently sustained by the group’s bassist, Tommy Stinson. Commenting on his injury, bassist Tommy Stinson said: "I feel so bad right now. I accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. I put my hand down to break my fall and heard a loud 'pop.' The next morning I went to see my doctor, and the bad news is it's severely sprained and I may have done some ligament damage. I feel horrible. “We'd like to apologize to our fans who were looking forward to seeing us for their patience and support." The good news is…. The 12-hour, adrenalin filled My Coke Fest continues with an exciting mix of SA talent and international music heavyweights. The impressive line-up includes HOOBASTANK, STAIND, 3 DOORS DOWN, EVANESCENCE, THE SPRINGBOK NUDE GIRLS, THE PARLOTONES, EVOLVER (JHB only), CASSETTE (JHB only), J (JHB only), THE DIRTY SKIRTS (CT only), LOVE JONES (JHB only), and TAXI VIOLENCE(JHB only). Those who wish to be refunded can collect their refunds from Computicket as from Friday, April 20 2007. Refunds will only be allowed until midnight on the day of the actual show. We are also investigating a mechanism for compensating consumers who will attend the concert. Individuals in possession of a complimentary ticket will not be entitled to any refunds. GUNS N' ROSES' Australian Tour Still Going Ahead
Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that reports that the Australian leg of the GUNS N' ROSES tour has been indefinitely postponed are incorrect according to promoter Paul Dainty.
Dainty has once again confirmed to Undercover News that reports emanating out of South Africa last night that the Australia and New Zealand GUNS N' ROSES shows have been postponed following yesterday's decision by the band to pull out of South Africa have not been confirmed.
"I spoke with them last night and they did not tell me that," Dainty told Undercover.
Earlier, Japanese dates were postponed after bass player Tommy Stinson fell down a flight of stairs. GUNS N' ROSES postponed their Japanese dates because of the injury and yesterday also put South Africa on hold.
The South African shows were to take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town on April 27 and May 1. "The South Africa dates are next week," Dainty said. "The Australian dates are still months away."
GUNS N' ROSES are due to start their Australia tour on June 10 in Perth.

Message from Robin Finck <-- Robin Finck!!! I'm writing now in the wake of the recently postponed and cancelled GNR commitments in Japan and in South Africa. I guess I'm writing because I too am disappointed, have a conscience, a website, and I am not on the Bullet Train to Osaka this evening. I purely want to share with those whom were avid for seeing GNR at these concerts that I too was looking forward to seeing you all. The band was primed and pumped, production packed and shipped. Then, much to our distress, unforeseen circumstance walked in, dropped its surly case and announced with certainty, "I'm here! ". What can we do. I have received innumerable emails from real people who where hooking up with friends or family, flying to faraway cities, booking hotels or friend's couches, docking the USS Kitty Hawk, and otherwise scheduling their time and enthusiasm around these events. In short, these peeps wuz straight stung adrenalized and lettin' me square have it! I too was psyched about the shows, planning to meet friends and family, watch the cherry blossom blossom etc. It is my wish that your bounce forward from here be one of a willful arc and opportunity. Believe me, I'm swallowing that very pill by your side. Well, I'm not gonna go on with this letter, this letter to you who've sent me. I think you catch my drift. Best of spirits to you all and I sincerely wish for you a successful trip ahead. Have fun wherever you are- r ob i n robinfinck.com/GNR_fans.php

Guns N' Roses Sued in Jersey
TMZ has obtained a lawsuit filed in a New Jersey court against the members of Guns N' Roses, claiming they have not paid the logistics company hired for their 2006 tour.
Starlift Logistics alleges they were hired to provide transportation and touring services for the band by Black Frog touring and LL Management -- both companies that arrange touring on behalf of Guns N' Roses. Starlift also supplies sets, stage production items and musical instruments.
According to the court document, founding member Axl Rose, and others owe Starlift over $107,000 in unpaid bills.

Although I am not quite sure what to make of this latest batch of leaks from GNR (from a marketing standpoint)... all the songs sound amazing and are definitely all fantastic new stuff from Axl and company.

Latest rumour is that RIAA are shutting down forums that were highly involved in the leaking of the songs... *edit: this was only rumor*

I kinda figured it was a rumor. It seemed like there were some real "defenders of Axl's honor" on some other GNR boards that were pushing the "terrible" downloading the leaks was. Plus it was a Sunday... so I doubt the RIAA was out being the fun police... they would wait for an actual work day!

SCOTT WEILAND Vs. AXL ROSE Part II
According to GnrDaily.com, Matt Pains of Metromix Chicago recently interviewed VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland. When asked about his relationship (or lack thereof) with GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose, Weiland replied, "Oh, man. I have never spoken to him, but I've gotten messages from him through [VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer] Matt Sorum. They speak every once in awhile. I know that [Axl] was a fan of STP back in the early days of GUNS. Well, I guess it wasn't the early days; it was just sort of mid-days, early-mid days ... I think that — depending on his mood — he vacillates between being into the idea [of Weiland playing with former GUNS members] and kinda diggin' it and then hating my guts."
After reading the interview, the webmaser of the GUNS N' ROSES fan site Here Today… Gone To Hell! contacted Beta Lebeis (Axl's assistant and close friend) to check the validity of Scott's quote. Here is her response:
"Though Axl spoke with Matt roughly a year ago, Scott doesn't interest Axl, there are no messages, no vacillating, no messages were given to Matt by Axl for Scott. In fact earlier on the same night that Axl ended up speaking with Matt when Scott saw Axl enter the same club that he and Matt were in, Scott immediately RAN out of the club which Axl's guests found mildly amusing, beyond that nothing. I was the one whom Slash spoke with when he came to Axl's house in 2005 and expressed his negative comments regarding the others in his new band. Behind the scenes it is a very different story than what the public is sold."
The "feud" between Axl and Scott started back in March 2006 when Axl issued the following statement via his attorney, Howard Weitzman:
"In October of 2005 Slash made an unannounced 5:30 a.m. visit to Axl Rose's house. Not appearing to be under the influence, Slash came to inform Axl that: 'Duff was spineless,' 'Scott [Weiland] was a fraud,' that he 'hates Matt Sorum' and that in this ongoing war, contest or whatever anyone wants to call it that Slash has waged against Axl for the better part of 20 years, that Axl has proven himself 'the stronger.' Based on his conduct in showing up at Rose's home, Axl was hopeful that Slash would live up to his pronouncements that he wanted to end the war and move on with life. Unfortunately that did not prove to be the case." (Read More)
Slash didn't comment on Rose's press release, but a VELVET REVOLVER spokesperson did promise that Slash would be heard from "within days." Slash's press release never came, but Scott Weiland's did. On March 10, 2006, he posted an open letter on VR's official web site in response to Axl's comments. Here's an excerpt from the letter, which was later removed from the site:
"Get in the ring. Go to the gym, motherfucker, or if you prefer, get a new wig, motherfucker. I think I'll resist the urge to 'stoop' to your level. Oh shit, here it comes, you fat, botox-faced, wig-wearin' fuck! O.K., I feel better now.
"Don't think for a second we don't know where those words came from. Your unoriginal, uncreative little mind — the same mind that had to rely on its bandmates to write melodies and lyrics. Who's the fraud now, bitch?"
Axl didn't respond to Scott's letter, whereas Duff McKagan made a neutral comment, stating, "I won't get involved in a war of words, you know. People say all kinds of stuff and I'm not going to be one of them."

SLASH: 'Every Time I Talk About GUNS N' ROSES It Comes Back To Bite Me On The Ass'
Jed Gottlieb of BostonHerald.com recently conducted an interview with VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash. A few excerpts follow:
On questions about Axl Rose and their past, current or future relationship:
"Sorry, but every time I talk about GUNS N' ROSES it comes back to bite me on the ass. It was a band that I was in. I'm very proud of it. But let's move on, thanks."
On the new VELVET REVOLVER album, "Libertad":
"On the last record, the producer we worked with, Josh Abraham, didn't know how to record guitars. We were lucky we got any guitars on the record. I never really used to say anything about that, but the guy that we worked with, who is a great guy, he had no experience recording guitars.
"It was hard to find someone for the second album, but we got Brendan O'Brien of PEARL JAM, STP-producing fame. He's the only guy we found that had any rock 'n' roll chops. He had the perfect attitude for it."
"We're not here to fulfill anyone's dreams of what this band is supposed to be. There were a lot of expectations for us in the beginning, but I don't give a s---. The first record, regardless of if there are enough guitars on it or not, is a cool f------ record. This one is even better."
On touring clubs and European festivals before the new CD hits stores:
"We like the challenge of going out and playing five or six songs off a record nobody has heard," he said, letting loose a gravelly chuckle. "We've got people telling us, 'But, but, but (fans) won't know the material.' That's the whole f------ point. We just want to go out and play."

SLASH Admits He Visited AXL ROSE's House In 2005
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has admitted that he visited GUNS N' ROSES singer Axl Rose's house in 2005, despite previous claims to the contrary.
Slash and ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan sued Rose in August 2005, accusing Rose of changing publishers of GUNS 'N ROSES' songs without their consent and pocketing the royalties from the deal.
Rose countersued Slash, and then stirred up further controversy by saying that Slash showed up at his house uninvited to offer a truce. According to a March 2006 MTV.com article, Rose said Slash dissed VELVET REVOLVER by telling Rose that singer Scott Weiland was a "fraud," McKagan was "spineless" and that he hated Sorum.
Slash denied everything except the visit to Rose's home.
"It's a long story," Slash told the Home News Tribune. "I actually did go to Axl's house at one point, but I never saw him. I never talked to him. I left a note with his person over there having to do with lawsuit that we were in. I don't know how it got turned into what it got turned into."
Axl's assistant, Beta Lebeis, recently told GUNS fan site Here Today...Gone To Hell! that she was the person that Slash spoke with on the night he visited Axl's house in 2005 and expressed negative feelings for his current bandmates in VELVET REVOLVER.
Rose's revelation of Slash's visit prompted a scathing rebuttal from Weiland, who called Rose a "fat, botox-faced, wig-wearin' fuck."
The quotes from Rose, as well as other rumors, though, did cause tension in VELVET REVOLVER. But Slash said he thinks the band has survived the rumors and innuendo and is more solid than ever.
"From the end of the ('Contraband') tour to the beginning of the (new) record, there was a lot of that going on," Slash said. "It was actually pretty detrimental at one point because it just got to be so overwhelming we couldn't seem to escape it. But it was just a matter of sticking together and getting through it, and we did. It will be interesting to see what they come up with next. The band is pretty firmly bonded, so I don't think it will be too easy to break that, to chip away at that stone, so to speak."

GUNS N' ROSES: New Song 'Better' Released To Radio?
According to GnrDaily.com, the new GUNS N' ROSES song "Better" has been played the last couple of days on the Texas-based radio station Q94.5 The Rock. People who have contacted the station have been told that this is not the demo version of the track that has been circulating on the Internet but is rather an official release sent to the station by GUNS N' ROSES' record company to play in heavy rotation. Ever since Q94.5 The Rock started playing "Better", it has been the most requested song on the station. Q94.5 The Rock is based about a two-hour drive from Monterrey, Mexico, where GUNS N' ROSES will kick off its 2007 world tour this Saturday, June 2. As previously reported, a studio mix of another new GUNS N' ROSES song, "There Was a Time", was leaked on May 6, making it the fourth new GN'R track in two days to be released via the Internet ("The Blues", "Chinese Democracy" and "I.R.S." were leaked two days earlier). "There Was a Time" (also known as "T.W.A.T.") was played live only twice — at the first New York City warm-up show on May 12, 2006 and Madrid, Spain on May 25, 2006 — and was mentioned as one of GN'R singer Axl Rose's favorites in an interview he gave to Rolling Stone magazine in January 2006. All tracks are rumored to be set for inclusion on GUNS N' ROSES' upcoming album "Chinese Democracy".

GUNS N' ROSES Frontman Dedicates Opening Show Of Australian Tour To BON SCOTT
Ara Jansen of The West Australian reports: The dedication of GUNS N' ROSES gig last night to former AC/DC singer and Fremantle's favourite son Bon Scott added just a little more enthusiasm to a pot which was already well and truly bubbling with anticipation.
Perth played host to the opening show of the Gunners' first Australian tour in almost 15 years and for most fans it would have been their first live look at the band.
Old mates ROSE TATTOO and former SKID ROW singer Sebastian Bach took the stage first and did what they do best — rock.
When he finally took to the stage, Axl Rose showed that although he might not be so thin and these days sports cornrows, there is still something totally charismatic and even enigmatic about the 45-year-old GUNS N' ROSES singer.

New GUNS N' ROSES Track for Guitar Hero III?According to Product Shop NYC, Activision has announced it will release Guitar Hero III, the fifth version of the guitar jamming game, in early 2008. The soundtrack will include a wide variety of material, including tracks by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and (possibly) new GUNS N' ROSES. As of now though, the only tracks confirmed for the game are listed at the bottom of this article. Guitar Hero III will also include more master recordings than previous iterations and a greater number of original recordings. Both controllers will be wireless. The new game will also get a host of new features, including a "multiplayer action-inspired battle mode," and authentic rock venues. An expanded online multiplayer mode will allow gamers to compete with other guitar heroes worldwide. He commented, "Many of the top bands and songs we've tried to get in the past are now on board, and we've definitely got some giant aces in the hole to say the least." Here's a list of the tracks that have been announced so far: Original Recordings: "Cult of Personality" by LIVING COLOUR "Paint It Black" by THE ROLLING STONES "Cherub Rock" by SMASHING PUMPKINS "Sabotage" by BEASTIE BOYS "The Metal" by TENACIOUS D "My Name Is Jonas" by WEEZER "Knights of Cydonia" by MUSE "Evenflow" by PEARL JAM "Lay Down" by PRIESTESS Cover Songs: "Rock And Roll All Nite" as made famous by KISS "School's Out" as made famous by ALICE COOPER "Slow Ride" as made famous by FOGHAT "Barracuda" as made famous by HEART "The reason why "Grindhouse tanked... DUFF MCKAGAN: I Really Wish AXL ROSE Had Used Different Name For New GUNS N' ROSES Band
Joacim Persson of the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet conducted a short interview with VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES bassist Duff McKagan prior to VELVET REVOLVER's concert at the Hultsfred festival on June 14.
When asked about singer Axl Rose and his new band touring as GUNS N' ROSES, McKagan said, "I really wish that he had used a different name. But things are as they are. Unfortunately neither Slash nor I have any contact with him, and that's a bit sad."
On Axl biting a security guard in Stockholm last summer, Duff said, "Yes, I heard about that. I'll definitely bite someone during my stay in Sweden, too haha."
