zakk did the national anthem at last nights l.a. kings home opener in what was surely the loudest version of the song i've ever heard. all in all zakk's version lasted like 10 minutes. it was so surreal i don't think even the people of l.a. knew what to think of it. gotta give the kings credit though for doing something different, and thankfully for zakk, its l.a. and no one gives a shit about the anthem anyway.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY booking agent Troy Blakely at APA has told Billboard magazine that the band will be taking part in this summer's Ozzfest before doing additional North American dates in the fall. "We don't know how we're going to do it yet or who we're going to be out with, but that's the plan, we're going to be back here in the fall headlining," he said.
This year BLACK LABEL SOCIETY will tour overseas for most of the spring and early summer. The band is booked in Europe by Nigel Kerr at APS and in South America by Bill Monot at Paradise Artists.
"For the first time this year, we're going to South America, for 16 headlining shows in 3,000-capacity-plus [venues]," BLACK LABEL SOCIETY manager Bob Ringe told Billboard. "We're going to Australia for the first time this year — eight shows in May, 3,000-capacity-plus. And we're doing a headlining European tour from May 23 until the first of July."
Blakely calls BLACK LABEL SOCIETY mainman Zakk Wylde "one of the hardest workers I've ever seen in the music business, period, and I've been doing this about 32 years."
Wylde's work ethic impressed Blakely early on. "He's working 24 hours a day, not just when he's onstage," Blakely said. "He's either writing material for himself or for OZZY OSBOURNE, working on other projects he's involved with, designing guitars or whatever else he's doing."
On the road, Wylde and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are rock-solid at the box office. "we did two tours in 2005," Ringe noted. "The spring tour we did 97.6% capacity, and the fall tour we headlined 3,000-plus seaters."
According to Blakely, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's fan base is very loyal. "That's one of the things I noticed a couple of years ago when I had JUDAS PRIEST on Ozzfest," he said. "I saw this fan base that Zakk has. There are chapters in each city that are very, very loyal fans, that come out for Zakk and bring other people and spread the word about what Zakk and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY are up to. I've never seen anything quite like that before."

ROADRUNNER RECORDS Announces Signing Of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY
Roadrunner Records has officially announced the signing of legendary guitarist Zakk Wylde and his band BLACK LABEL SOCIETY to a worldwide deal (excluding Japan, where the band are signed to JVC). Having sold over 1.4 million albums worldwide, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is currently working with producer Michael Beinhorn (SOUNDGARDEN, OZZY OSBOURNE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) on "Shot To Hell", the first release for Roadrunner that will be released this summer.
"After spending a lifetime as Wylde Z. Coyote, I guess it was just a matter of time before I'd catch the Roadrunner," comments Wylde. "Shot to Hell" is the follow-up to "Mafia", which debuted in March 2005 at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart and at #1 on the Top Independent Albums chart. The top rock track "In This River" from "Mafia" will be on the upcoming "MTV2 Headbangers Ball: The Revenge" album that is out April 11. BLS, who were just announced as the Ozzfest second stage headliner, will tour the world extensively in support of the new album. Zakk is currently finishing up the newest from BLS and writing and recording with Ozzy Osbourne for his new album.
"Signing Zakk and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY is an honor," stated Roadrunner Records Director of A&R Mike Gitter (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, CRADLE OF FILTH). "The guy is genuine, rock royalty whose talent is only matched by his vision. He is the real deal and his legacy, as one of the greatest guitarists of all time has already been cemented."
Guitar World magazine’s 3 time reigning MVP who in their year-end readers' poll was named #1 most valuable player, #1 best metal guitarist and #1 best shredder and the recipient of Metal Hammer magazine's 2005 "Riff Lord" Golden God Award, Zakk is one of the worlds most respected guitarists and a true living legend. On January 17, Rob Zombie and Ozzy Osbourne inducted Zakk into Hollywood's Guitar Center RockWalk. Recently Zakk re-upped with Gibson guitars who fully endorses him with a line of custom-made Les Pauls and this year Marshall Amplification will make a special limited edition "Zakk Stack." Zakk is the only artist aside from Jimi Hendrix to have a Marshall amplifier named after him.
In 1986, at the age of 19, Zakk was plucked from a gas station in NJ to be the new guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne. He quickly asserted not only his guitar skills but also his songwriting prowess, having co-written some of Ozzy's best-selling albums including, "No Rest For The Wicked", "No More Tears" and "Ozzmosis". Additionally, he has released one album with the short-lived project PRIDE & GLORY, one solo album and seven albums with BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. Lastly, BLS has released the DVD "Boozed, Broozed & Broken-Boned - Live" with the Detroit Chapter, which is certified platinum. Zakk is a budding actor who has appeared in the 2001 movie "Rock Star" with Mark Walhberg and later this year, will star in the film "Red Line", directed by Billy Zane.

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY: 'Shot To Hell' Cover Artwork Posted Online The cover artwork for BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's upcoming album, "Shot to Hell", has been posted online. Produced by Zakk and Michael Beinhorn (OZZY, KORN, SOUNDGARDEN), and recorded with longtime pals Craig Nunenmacher (drums) and John "J.D." DeServio (bass), "Shot to Hell" takes the ferocious hard rock of such BLS albums as 2003's "Blessed Hellride" and 2005's "Mafia" to a whole new level of "brewtality." "I never run out of ideas," Zakk says. "We just came in here and started knocking it out. That's how you make records." That take-no-prisoners attitude is all over such snarling tracks as "Concrete Jungle", "Blood Is Thicker Than Water" and "Give Yourself To Me", while reflective ballads like "Lead Me To Your Door" and "Sick Of It All" mix moody melodies with screaming guitar solos. "It's a real cool mix of heavy shit and mellow shit," Zakk explains. "Shot to Hell" is scheduled for release on September 19 via Roadrunner Records.

ZAKK WYLDE Takes Part In Impromptu Jam In Seattle "After three hours on air ( with 'The Men's Room' - which some of you may recognize as former Baltimore based DJ's Miles and Steve The Thrill Hill's new home) at 99.9 KISW ( www.kisw.com ) The Rock of Seattle [Friday night, February 2], and a great two-song acoustic session, Zakk [Wylde of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY] and company headed to El Corazon where he was supposed to just sit and autograph for a couple hours. He never made it to his station in the corner of El Corazon. He instead, went on stage where equipment was set up for the local metal show which was to take place after his time there. He started telling hilarious stories about Ozzy then proceded to tell everyone it was time to 'jam.' He grabbed part of the opening band and starting playing JIMI HENDRIX tunes for the next two hours. The few hundred people seemed to be much more happy with an impromptu show than an autographed CD." Check out a photo taken at Friday's impromptu performance at this location: www.flickr.com/photos/steverauch/show/

BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Parts Ways With ROADRUNNER RECORDS
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has announced via a MySpace bulletin that it has parted ways with Roadrunner Records. "For all of you Berserkers out there, we would like to inform you that we have parted ways with Roadrunner Records," the band writes. "As we always want to keep you informed, we will let you in on the exciting announcement coming in the near future..." BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's sole release through Roadrunner was last year's "Shot to Hell" album. "Shot to Hell" sold just under 32,000 copies in the United States during its first week of release last September — less than the 45,000 copies shifted by BLS's "Mafia" (Artemis) back in March 2005 — to land at position No. 21 on The Billboard 200 chart.

ZAKK WYLDE Misses Hard Rock Café's Boston Opening After Getting Into 'Huge Bar Fight'
According to a press release issued by Hard Rock International's publicist, Renita D. Reichard of Coyne PR, STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis headlined Hard Rock Café Boston's grand opening party on Tuesday, August 7 with a very unique acoustic performance. Only scheduled to play 45 minutes, Lewis continued for more than one and a half hours, appearing to have no set song list. Fans who expected to hear STAIND hits such as "It's Been A While" were pleasantly surprised by Lewis' random selection of songs. Lewis began performing his own acoustic versions of classics, such as SKID ROW's "I Remember You", JOHN LENNON's "Imagine" and even broke into "Rainbow Connection", sung by Kermit the Frog in "The Muppet Movie" from 1979! Meanwhile, Zakk Wylde, guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne's band and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, was scheduled to be a main part of Hard Rock Café Boston's grand opening, as he was supposed to donate a guitar to become an addition to Hard Rock's memorabilia collection, walk the red carpet, do some interviews, etc. Fans and media waited for hours to speak with Zakk. Halfway through the red carpet arrivals, Zakk called to say that he would not be attending the opening. Reason? He went to a bar in Boston, got absolutely hammered and got into a huge bar fight! "Snake Rules!"

ZAKK WYLDE Ready To Unleash Hot-Sauce Line
Zakk Wylde's tenure as Ozzy Osbourne's axe-slinging sidekick has brought him fame in front of a large audience over the past two decades. However, it's Wylde's rock band, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY (BLS) that has brought him notoriety amongst a hardcore crowd of music lovers known in BLACK LABEL's world as "Berserkers." The Berserkers, who have BLACK LABEL SOCIETY chapters around the globe, wear their BLS colors with great pride. A musical gang of beer drinkers, they rally under the mantra SDMF, which means Strength, Determination, Merciless, Forever. "It's a tribute to family and God," according to Wylde. The Berserkers gather together often, eating, drinking and celebrating a lifestyle dedicated the man and music group that has literally changed their lives. It goes without saying that the Berserkers are not only tough customers, but demanding consumers as well.
Which is why when it came to choosing a company to introduce a recipe of flavors combined for a hot sauce line Wylde has envisioned not only for himself, but for the legion of Berserkers — only one company was considered, Blair's. "Blair's Death sauce has taken first position in my rack of flavors for sometime, and it's been my go-to sauce for anything I've concocted that needs that extra punch," says Wylde, adding, "When it came time to unleash my idea for a sauce on the Berserker Nation, I made one call, and that was to Blair himself."
With fall here, the thoughts of tailgating, concerts, fire pit keg parties, and BLS chapter meetings begin flowing through the heads of Berserkers everywhere, the introduction of a sauce line to challenge the taste buds of a dedicated and discriminating generation of fans as now arrived on shelves, and online. Blair Presents Zakk Wylde's Berserker Hot Sauce. Flavors so bold they could only be made for the Berserkers, but tasty enough for everyone to enjoy.
Blair's has been producing top-shelf hot sauces and food condiments for as long as Zakk has been one of America's top guitar slingers, and is considered the industry leader amongst sauces according to many. Company founder Blair Lazar was more than willing to work with Wylde. "Zakk's playing style and charisma is something I've admired from a fans perspective for a long time, in terms of unbridled energy, we are a lot a like," says Blair. "After getting the call from Zakk, I came up with a variation of an award-winning recipe him and his Doom Crew to road test on the last tour, and they tweaked it to perfection."
Perfection is something Lazar has been accustomed to over the years, working tirelessly in the kitchen while constantly refining his product line — and as a result, he decided to release not one Blair Presents Zakk Wylde's Berserker Sauce, but a line four. "Four flavors of hot allows us to appeal to all the Berserkers out there" says Blair.
"Strength, Determination, and Mercilessly Hot! were my initial thoughts," exclaimed Zakk after tasting the first production run of the sauce. "I said, let's unleash this stuff now and let me feel the heat on stage from a back-row burp at the next show," he later joked. Upon hearing that, Blair commented, "When that happens, I'll really know we delivered!"
Distribution for the sauce is being handled jointly between Blair's and Bravado International Group, the largest music merchandise company in the world, and a company that has enjoyed a 10-year long relationship with Zakk and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. Blair's will focus on distribution of the sauce to traditional food retailers, while Bravado will handle non traditional distribution at retail and online sales via the BLACK LABEL SOCIETY webstore (www.blacklabelsociety.com). In other words, if you are a connoisseur or collector sauces in a bottle, or a BLS music maniac, you'll find the Zakk Wylde's Berserker sauce available everywhere. Retail price for the sauce is $9.95 per bottle and $39.80 for the complete Berserker line.

Every once in Ronnie Meigs a while I run across a good timberland boots article... so I decided that, since 'Abbys Good Stuff' was using so little of the discount timberland boots web space that I already paid for, that I'd use up some of that space and grab some of the best cheap timberland boots articles I read and reprint them here. This is a new thing, but it will grow. The timberland mens boots articles and editorials I choose will be on a wide variety of subjects - the only thing they will have in common is that I liked them when I read womens timberland boots them and somehow got permission to reprint them here to share with you. I'll try to add at least one new one every week, and of course you can send a timberland outlet suggestion if you have, or know of, a good article that I could add.
