FILTER mainman Richard Patrick has commented on the reports that former FILTER members Geno Lenardo (guitar) and Frank Cavanagh (bass) have launched a new band with ex-ADEMA singer Marky Chavez. Writing to the Filter Discussion Group, Patrick said, "I've heard conflicting reports about this project, and whether or not it's true, I wish them all the best! We've had a lot of good times together and I hope they continue to make great music. As for FILTER, you'll be stunned at the new lineup!"
Chavez, who left ADEMA late last year, recently stated about the as-yet-unnamed new group, " I can't wait to let the world hear this new music. It's the best stuff I have ever been a part of.
"The band is located out of Chicago and we are taking meeting with labels and management! We should have a record coming out toward the latter part of this New Year!
"I really would like to thank all the ADEMA fans that have not forgotten about me, and they won't be disappointed with this new band and record.
"All things happen for a reason, and I am proud of what I did with ADEMA, but this new project is what I have wanted to do for a long time!"

FILTER Mainman: 'This Is Not A Comeback'
FILTER frontman Richard Patrick spoke to MTV.com earlier this week abut the group's forthcoming album, titled "Anthems for the Damned", which is expected in stores in early 2008.
"I'm not straying from that classic FILTER sound," Patrick told MTV.com. "But, because I'm a little older and a little wiser, [the sound has] definitely evolved. The first two or three songs are just straight-up industrial powerhouses, and then it goes into the huge-sounding stuff that people are kind of familiar with."
Patrick said it was playing old FILTER material during live sets with ARMY OF ANYONE — the group he formed with ex-STONE TEMPLE PILOTS members Dean and Robert DeLeo — that convinced him that the band had to be resurrected.
"But this is not a comeback," he clarified. "FILTER's my legacy. It's just like Al Jourgensen with MINISTRY. This is something I took very seriously, something I quit NINE INCH NAILS to do, and it has allowed me so much freedom as an artist. I would never turn my back on the thing that has always been the #1 thing in my life. And the core fans that I have, they're expecting a great record. I knew I'd have to return with the goods, and I'm absolutely convinced that that's what I have with this record."

FILTER Putting Finishing Touches On New Album
The Pulse of Radio reports that FILTER is close to finishing a new album, titled "Anthems for the Damned", with a release tentatively scheduled for April or May. The disc will be out through Pulse Recording, a joint venture of FILTER frontman Richard Patrick and producer Josh Abraham. According to one source, the record features an all-star lineup of contributors, with Patrick putting his live band together right now.
"I'm not straying from that classic FILTER sound," Patrick told MTV.com in a November 2007 interview. "But, because I'm a little older and a little wiser, [the sound has] definitely evolved. The first two or three songs are just straight-up industrial powerhouses, and then it goes into the huge-sounding stuff that people are kind of familiar with."

FILTER Returns From Five-Year Hiatus With 'Anthems For The Damned'
After a five-year hiatus and a successful run with ARMY OF ANYONE, Richard Patrick has reclaimed his legacy with FILTER for "Anthems For The Damned", due out this May.
Produced by Josh Abraham (SLAYER, 30 SECONDS TO MARS, VELVET REVOLVER, STAIND, COURTNEY LOVE), Patrick calls "Anthems For The Damned" his "howl in the night," a harsh indictment of civilization that doesn't exclude himself from its vision of a world falling apart.
The album's first single "Soldiers of Misfortune" will be released later this month. Patrick describes the soaring anthem — with its U2/BOWIE flavor and stacked backdrop of buzzing electric guitars — as a "sardonic anti-war/pro-troops song." The first-person narrative was inspired by a letter from a FILTER fan who had enlisted in the Army reserves to get his college tuition paid; in his final year of college, he was shipped off to Iraq where he died from a rocket attack and small arms fire after just a few days of duty.
FILTER will preview tracks from "Anthems For The Damned" alongside such FILTER classics as "Hey Man, Nice Shot", "Take a Picture" and others when they hit the road for special California club shows next month. The band will follow the shows with additional U.S. shows just prior to the album's release, mixing headlining shows, festival appearances and radio shows.
"Anthems For The Damned" features such collaborators as guitarist/songwriter John 5, guitarist Wes Borland and drummer Josh Freese and marks FILTER's first release in five years since "The Amalgamut". Pointed and passionate, the new album traces Patrick's own anger and shame with the state of things, from the intense alternative industrial blast of "The Take", "What's Next" and "Hatred is Contagious", the ultimate resignation of "Kill the Day" and "Lie After Lie" to the tentative hope expressed by "Only You" and the ambient soundscape of the closing "Can Stop This".
FILTER's club shows are as follows:
March 02 - San Diego, CA - The Casbah March 03 - Orangevale, CA - Boardwalk March 04 - San Francisco, CA - Café DuNord

FILTER Joined By Ex-Bassist, Now Soldier, At Kuwait Show
The Pulse of Radio reports that FILTER was joined by a surprise guest, ex-bassist Frank Cavanagh, during the band's performance on Monday (March 10) as part of Operation MySpace, a concert held in Kuwait for U.S. troops serving in the Middle East. Cavanagh, who played "Hey Man, Nice Shot" with the band, is now an Army Sergeant and heads for duty in Baghdad later this month. FILTER frontman Richard Patrick told The Pulse of Radio why Cavanagh decided to sign up. "Frank's inspired by world events and he's a huge history buff and, you know, he wanted to be at this pinnacle place in the world and see for himself what this is about," he said. "He joined the Army Reserves at the age of, I think, 35, they took him and he went to basic training. He said it was probably the hardest thing he ever did, but he was doing really great, and he's on his way."
Cavanagh was given special permission by the Army to play with FILTER at the show. He said in a statement, "I love the Army and I love FILTER. To be able to join Richard and my former band for the first time in nearly six years is a huge honor...as I am able to share the musical part of my life with my brothers and sisters who are serving our country."

FILTER: Additional Tour Dates Announced
The Pulse of Radio reports that FILTER has expanded its upcoming live schedule as the band gears up for the May 13 release of its first new album in six years, "Anthems for the Damned". The trek, which kicks off on April 24, now includes 20 dates, including headlining shows and radio festivals. Frontman Richard Patrick told The Pulse of Radio why he's especially looking forward to playing as many concerts as possible. "You know, I quit drinking, I quit smoking, so the only real benefit to that, other than like having pink lungs again after five years of not smoking is the fact that I can sing really, really well, and it really makes my job easy and fun," he said. "So I'm actually just super-excited to just sing as many nights in a row as I can and just play as many shows."
The first single from "Anthems for the Damned" is called "Soldiers of Misfortune". Richard Patrick said the song was inspired by a letter from a FILTER fan who joined the Army reserves to get his college tuition paid. He was sent to Iraq and killed in a rocket attack just days later.
