Any news from these guys? I've heard rumors of a new album (although the last one wasn't exactly good) and an upcoming tour, but nothing's come up.

AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson has co-written all of the material and handpicked the members of a new Florida-based band called BIG MACHINE. The quintet has labels and industry folk alike shuffling about trying to find out more about the group performing the first new material written from the iconic frontman since 1988.
Looking to stretch his own musical muscles a bit, Brian compiled in BIG MACHINE a band of monsters that would best portray his classic songwriting style, and rip it a new ass on stage.
It all starts with a frontman that can cast his own shadow so to speak along side the story that is BIG MACHINE. That guy is former NEUROTICA/ATHEIST vocalist Kelly Shaefer. Shaefer was also one of the final four vocalists chosen for the frontman spot in VELVET REVOLVER.
Johnson discovered Shaefer in a small club in South Florida a few years back and offered to produce Shaefer's then-band NEUROTICA's first record "Seed". Johnson also sang alongside Shaefer on the track "Deadly Sin" that Johnson and Kaye penned for the band, marking it the first and only time Johnson has produced in his illustrious career.
With music making a retro fitted return to "classic" songwriting qualities, BIG MACHINE spits out a sound ironically reminiscent of the Bon Scott-era of AC/DC. Shaefer's vocal on "Somebody's Looking" casts an eerie resemblance to that of the late Bon Scott.
BIG MACHINE's demo is currently making the rounds to industry insiders, and the stage is set for this band to emerge and flatten the "pretenders" to the throne of rock and roll. How fitting that the beating would come from the man who has carried the torch to that sound for over 20 years!
The buzz on this band is so hot that its first live appearance, on March 24 in South Florida, is sold out two weeks before the date of the show. Not bad for a band that just got together at the top of the year.
Johnson will also be making an onstage appearance with BIG MACHINE on March 24.
BIG MACHINE is:
Donny Jaurols - Guitar Doug Kaye - Guitar Joe Scibilia - Bass Kelly Shaefer - Vocals Jeff Klosterman - Drums
This five-piece outfit promises to be a breath of fresh air in these times of "ProTooled" cookie cutter bands that plague the airwaves. With Jaurols and Kaye's relentless wall of guitars, Klosterman and Scibilia's rhythm section providing the perfect soundtrack for Shaefer's throaty approach, songs like "Party Time for 2" and "All Women are Crazy", along with the radio-ready "Wild Wild West", bring back a fun, but daring time of rock.

Launch Radio Networks reports: AC/DC leaders Angus and Malcolm Young have been working on the band's new record for quite a while, and now we know why — it might be a double album! Singer Brian Johnson said the Youngs are "ensconced" in a U.K. studio, and that they just keep writing new material. "I think, and I might be speaking out of turn, but I think they're doing a double, with the amount of songs — I've been over a couple of times with the boys and added ideas on 46 tunes we had, and they've been working since then!"
Johnson isn't sure whether the album will come out this year or next, but he did say the band will tour when it comes out.

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson was interviewed by Eddie Trunk on the "Friday Night Rocks" show on New York's Q104.3 FM this past Friday (April 22). Several excerpts from the interview follow (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET):
On the status of the new AC/DC studio album:
"We should be getting together pretty soon. I've already been with Mal [Malcolm Young, guitar] and Ang [Angus Young, guitar] and we've run a few tunes by each other, and it's sounding great. I think Mal said it best when he said, 'We don't wanna just bring out another album.' It's gotta be something really… It's gotta be perfect. And now him and Angus are really working hard to get something so special. I've been in the studio and I sang a few of the songs with the boys, a couple of little teasers, and I've gotta tell you, I was knocked out with the stuff they were coming up with."
On whether there is any truth to the report that the upcoming CD may be a double:
"I said the other day to somebody, I said, 'Jesus, we've written enough songs, it could be a box set.' And Sony Records got on the phone and said, 'Don't ever say that. Don't ever say that again.' [Laughs] 'These people will be expecting one.' I said, 'I was kidding.' I think it's basically the fact that the guys wanted as much down as possible just so we could pick some gems out. And the great thing is, there'll be a load of songs left over for something in the future — you never know."
On when he expects to begin recording the new AC/DC album:
"I haven't got a specific date, but I just know that once we start, it's like an avalanche — we just start moving, and we move quick and fast. But we do want it to be good. And I know Malcolm and Angus have stressed that they want it to be perfect — they want everybody to have a great show, great songs… It's tough to put your finger on it, but we just want it to be good. Nobody goes in the studio to do a bad album — nobody. But this time they're looking for a 100 percent guarantee of a great album."
On which studio they will use to record the new album:
"I don't know where we're gonna record it — you know, there's so many great studios. Last time [for 2000's 'Stiff Upper Lip'] we did in Vancouver, 'cause it was a fabulous little studio, Bryan Adams' studio [Warehouse]. He's got a great studio up there which isn't digital, which gives you lovely warm sounds — it's analog and it's fabulous. We had a great time there, so I'm hoping we go back, but you never know — there's always another deal coming in from somebody else who's got a great studio, so you've just gotta keep your eyes and ears open."
On which producer they will use for the upcoming CD:
"I haven't got a clue. George, I love George — George Young, the boys' [Angus' and Malcolm's] brother. He's lovely. He's just great, he gets the best out of us, but so does 'Mutt' Lange, but I know Mutt wants to try to keep away from the scene as much as possible with his lovely wife. But let's put it this way: That's the short list. And it doesn't get any better than that."

According to a post at AC/DC Ruff Stuff, AC/DC will be recording their next studio album in the U.K.
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently told Eddie Trunk of the "Friday Night Rocks" show on New York's Q104.3 FM that the band will begin recording their new CD soon for a tentative late 2005/early 2006 release. "I've already been with Mal [Malcolm Young, guitar] and Ang [Angus Young, guitar] and we've run a few tunes by each other, and it's sounding great. I think Mal said it best when he said, 'We don't wanna just bring out another album.' It's gotta be something really… It's gotta be perfect. Guitarist Angus Young told the Hit Parader magazine that AC/DC have written and recorded so much material over the last year that they might seriously consider making their next album release a double disc.
"We do have a lot of songs at the moment," he said. "But that's not incredibly unusual for us. We tend to have a lot of material at some point in the recording process, then begin to whittle it down. But this time, we like a lot of what we're hearing, so the idea of expanding things out is not out of the realm of possibility."
As previously reported, AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson joined VELVET REVOLVER onstage during their appearance at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday (Sept. 6) for a rendition of LED ZEPPELIN's "Rock and Roll". Check out a photo of Johnson with VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash.
In other news, Angus and brother Malcolm Young now each have one of Mackie's new Digital X Bus X.200 recording consoles in their personal studios (located in Netherlands and England, respectively). In addition, they have both specified Mackie HDR24/96 hard disk recorders and completed their updates with a pair of Mackie HR824 Active Studio Monitors in each studio.
Undercover News recently reported that AC/DC are among the artists who are said to be planning performances in Australia next March to mark the 2006 Commonwealth Games to be held in Melbourne.
AC/DC's "Back in Black" album was recently certified for U.S. shipments of 21 million copies, tying it for fifth place with BILLY JOEL's "Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & II" on the Recording Industry Assn. of America's all-time best-sellers list.

AC/DC: More Of BON SCOTT's Personal Items To Be Auctioned Off
The upcoming autumn Joel's Catalogue Auction will feature some very important and unique 1970s rock 'n' roll items concerning Bon Scott, the late frontman of iconic and world-renowned Australian rock band AC/DC. Since their debut in late 1973, AC/DC has sold over 90 million albums world wide, placing them in the top five highest-selling rock groups in American history, signifying the extent of their international popularity and acclaim. Bon Scott fronted the band from 1974 until his death in 1980, when AC/DC was at its peak of fame and popularity, and Bon has since then been forever remembered as one of the most charismatic and legendary front men of all time. The items up for auction have been provided by Bon Scott's ex-wife, Irene, and are from a collection of extremely intimate and personal effects. These include Bon's shaving mirror, in a black vinyl zip case bearing his name, a photo album with approximately 75 black-and-white and color photographs, including wedding and family shots of Bon and Irene, and a collection of cards and letters written by Bon containing personal thoughts and emotions during the final years of his life. Another very special item up for auction is a 1974 AC/DC vinyl test pressing of "High Voltage" with the original first track being "Jailbreak", not "Little Lover", which was released on the 1975 "Dirty Deeds" album.

AC/DC: New Album Coming In January?
According to a posting on the AC/DC fan site AC/DC Highway to Hell, it is rumored that AC/DC has completed editing video footage for a brand new double DVD set to be released September, which will contain one Bon Scott DVD and one Brian Johnson DVD of AC/DC live in concert. The band has also supposedly completed a new album which is scheduled for release January 2008, with a world tour to follow.
Back in December 2006, Albert Music boss Fifa Riccobono shot down reports that AC/DC had a new record titled "Strap It On" coming in 2007.
"I ran that past Mal (Young) some time ago and he said it was the first he'd heard of it, so I guess the answer no," she told Undercover News. "Also, there definitely is no release date scheduled as the album hasn't been recorded yet."
AC/DC leaders Malcolm and Angus Young have been writing material for a few years. In early 2005, singer Brian Johnson told Launch there was a lot of stuff to work with. "I think, and I might be speaking out of turn, but I think they're doing a double, with the amount of songs — I've been over a couple of times with the boys and added ideas on 46 tunes we had, and they've been working since then!" he said.

AC/DC Catalog Goes Digital
Ingrid Lunden of mocoNews.net reports that AC/DC has signed a deal to make its entire catalog available digitally. But instead of offering the music through Apple's iTunes — now the third largest retailer of music after WalMart and Best Buy — or one of the other established online retailers, the Aussie rockers have signed an exclusive deal to sell the music through Verizon's online music store.
There seem to be several caveats in the AC/DC agreement. As the Wall Street Journal points out, all of the tracks but one — "You Shook Me All Night Long" — will only be available in album format (AC/DC has some 17 albums in its catalog), and the albums will also retail for more than they cost through Amazon: $11.99 versus $9.97. And the music will only be available online rather than via over-the-air downloads. But this could either prove to be a boost to the online store, or AC/DC's "highway to hell": Verizon notes that only 5 percent of its music sales currently are made through the web site. The deal also includes 18 ringtones.

AC/DC Poised To Shatter International Sales Records With 'Plug Me In'
Kathy McCabe of Australia's The Daily Telegraph reports that AC/DC is poised to shatter international sales records with the release of a definitive live retrospective DVD collection "Plug Me In" this week.
More than 500,000 copies have already been ordered worldwide for the concert footage compilation which is being released in North America on Tuesday, October 16.
Fans can preview some of the rare footage exclusively online with The Daily Telegraph, starting today with a blistering "Rock n' Roll Damnation" featuring late frontman Bon Scott at the Apollo Theatre in Glasgow in April 1978. Watch the clip below.
The first AC/DC release since the band came to Columbia Records earlier this year, the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection (regular box artwork, collector's edition artwork) brings together for the very first time an astonishing five hours of definitive live concert and television performances — many of them previously unavailable — chronicling the ongoing career (now in its fourth decade!) of a groundbreaking rock and roll powerhouse whose music transcends the test of time.
"AC/DC has delivered the most dynamic rock and roll music in the world," said Steve Barnett, Chairman, Columbia Records. "Columbia is honored to be releasing this definitive career-spanning retrospective featuring many of AC/DC's finest filmed performances."
Disc One of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection begins with a performance of "High Voltage" performed in October 1975 on Australia's "King of Pop" awards show. The first disc of "Plug Me In" is devoted to the band's formative years (1975-1979) with the late Bon Scott capturing the group in its full early glory with more than 20 performances including rare black-and-white video footage of the notorious St. Albans High School concert on March 3, 1976; the very first UK television appearance in July 1976; pristine live full-color stereo concert performances from Glasgow and Essex University in 1978; and three songs — including the very first public performance of "Highway To Hell" — from Netherlands television in 1979. Bonus material on Disc One includes a Bon Scott interview from November 1977; extraordinary band interviews from 1976; and four songs recorded live in Nice on December 15, 1979, one of Bon Scott's last concerts with the band before his tragic death on February 19, 1980.
Disc Two of the AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD collection covers the band's second great epoch: the Brian Johnson era which began with the release of "Back In Black" in 1980 and continues to this day. In addition to more than 20 performances drawn from three decades of concerts around the world — including an extremely rare Japanese television appearance from February 1981, blistering '80s and '90s sets from Detroit to Moscow, incredible footage from 1996's "Ballbreaker" tour (including the "Beavis & Butthead" intro), and 21st century barnburners in Paris, Munich, and Toronto — "Plug Me In" includes a fantastic array of bonus material including the AC/DC Donnington interview on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" (August 1984) and AC/DC's in-concert performance of "Rock Me Baby" with THE ROLLING STONES.
A deluxe collector's edition of "Plug Me In" — containing a third DVD of 21 additional rare performances spanning both the Bon Scott and Brian Johnson eras as well as a treasure trove of facsimile reproductions of authentic AC/DC memorabilia — will also be available for a limited time beginning Tuesday, October 16.

The AC/DC "Plug Me In" DVD box set is both a Holy Grail for aficionados of AC/DC as well as an ideal and comprehensive introduction to the music and history of a pioneering band that continues to define the electrifying possibilities of rock and roll.
Formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young (still the most formidable electric guitar team in rock), AC/DC released its first album, "High Voltage", in 1975. The group has gone on to sell nearly 70 million albums in the U.S. alone, making AC/DC one of the five best-selling bands in American music history. The "Back In Black" album has achieved RIAA double diamond status, for sales in excess of 21 million copies in the United States, and is the U.S.'s fifth largest-selling album ever.
AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

AC/DC: Club Tour, New Album On The Way AC/DC will reportedly play special "secret" club gig on January 25 at Glashaus in Reinach, Switzerland. Only 400 tickets are apparently available for the concert, which is part of a short mini-tour of small venues the band is planning on undertaking at the end of the month. According to the Spanish web site RafaBasa.com, AC/DC has been quietly working on its first all-new album since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip" with Robert John "Mutt" Lange, and is planning on releasing the effort — which is rumored to be titled "Strap It On" (a name that has apparently been bounced around for at least the last couple of years) — at the end of April. The group's guitarist, Angus Young, is also said to have fully recovered from a recent knee injury which had apparently contributed to the delay in getting the new record completed. As previously reported, AC/DC's classic "Back in Black" album was certified 22-times-platinum on December 13, 2007 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for sales in excess of 22 million copies in the United States. "Plug Me In" — the ultimate career-spanning DVD box set of live performances, interviews and more from AC/DC — was certified five-times-platinum by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Released on October 16, "Plug Me In" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Music Video chart and #1 on the SoundScan Top DVD Music Videos chart. "Plug Me In" — the first AC/DC release since the band came to Columbia Records earlier this year — debuted at #1 in 12 countries around the world, including the U.S., the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, and New Zealand. The compilation contains over five hours of live and television performances, many of them rare and previously unavailable until now. A limited edition of the set includes a third disc featuring 21 additional performances, along with reproductions of authentic AC/DC memorabilia.

AC/DC Is Not In The Studio, Is Not Recording With MUTT LANGE And Does Not Have Album Title
Tim Cashmere of Undercover News reports: AC/DC are not in the studio, they are not recording with Mutt Lange and they don't have a title for an album which has been widely reported to be called "Strap It On".
Following stories that the band have returned to the studio for their first album since 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip", Albert Records' Danny Keenan has told Undercover they're hopeful, but it's not the case.
"If you ask me if they're in the studio today, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they were in the studio last week, I can tell you they're not. If you ask me if they're in the studio next week, I can tell you they're not.
"We're pretty hopeful, but unfortunately there is no word of an album at this stage."

AC/DC Shows Sign Of Life
According to The Pulse of Radio, AC/DC has re-opened its official web site for business, perhaps a sign that the band is planning more activity for 2008. A limited access version of the site has been online for months, but the full-fledged edition is now operational. A message on the home page reads, "The day of reckoning is upon us. It's been a long time coming, but it's finally here, and we're pleased to have you joining us as we turn on the power at AC/DC's official website, ACDC.com!" The post promises all the latest news on the band and the official word on rumors, as well as a detailed history, photos, downloads and a chance for fans to submit their own video messages or tributes.
A contest currently running at the site offers a chance to win a Peavey bass signed by bassist Cliff Williams.
The site also dismisses a recent rumor that AC/DC will play a surprise gig in Switzerland at the end of this month.
Reports surfaced earlier this month that AC/DC was finishing up its first album in eight years, tentatively titled "Strap It On", but a spokesperson for the band's Australian label, Albert Music, denied the story.

AC/DC: To Sell New Album Exclusively Through Wal-Mart
According to Reuters, Australian hard rock legends AC/DC will sell their new album only through Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the Wall Street Journal reported on its web site on Sunday, citing unnamed sources.
AC/DC becomes the latest veteran act to pact exclusively with the retail giant, following GARTH BROOKS, THE EAGLES and JOURNEY.
The AC/DC album is expected to come out in the fall, the paper reported.
The follow-up to 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip" was recorded at a Vancouver, Canada studio with producers Brendan O'Brien and Mike Fraser. The disc will be AC/DC's first for Sony BMG's Epic Records label, which reissued the band's back catalog a few years ago.
O'Brien is also known for his work with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, PEARL JAM, AUDIOSLAVE and VELVET REVOLVER, among others.

AC/DC Is Back In 'Black Ice'
Paul Cashmere of Undercover News reports that legendary Australian hard rockers AC/DC have three titles that they are considering for for their upcoming album, including "Black Ice" (which is said to be "a frontrunner at the moment") and "Runaway Train".
Danny Keenan of AC/DC's Australian record label Albert Music told Undercover News that a decision on the CD title will be made in the next week.
Albert Music CEO Tim Prescott will head to New York for meetings over the AC/DC release next week.
Danny Keenan told Undercover News that he has heard half the album but did not hear a song called "Black Ice". If it is being used as a title track, then it may have been one of the later tracks recorded for the album.
AC/DC's first album in eight years is tentatively due in October and is expected to be followed by a world tour.
Sony BMG recently revealed that the disc will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart stores, which has caused controversy with critics and fans.
The album was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams' studio with producer Brendan O'Brien (AUDIOSLAVE, PEARL JAM, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, VELVET REVOLVER).

AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell' Among Most Requested Funeral Songs According to Telegraph.co.uk, AC/DC's "Highway to Hell" is becoming one of the most requested funeral tunes in the band's home country of Australia. "Highway to Hell", with lyrics including "Going down, party time", is among a number rock classics, including LED ZEPPELIN's "Stairway to Heaven", that are replacing traditional hymns in Adelaide. Funeral managers at Centennial Park, the largest cemetery and crematorium in the city, said only two hymns still rank among its top 10 most popular funeral songs: "Amazing Grace" and "Abide With Me".

AC/DC Musical 'In The Pipeline'
According to the weekly UK-based celebrity and pop music newsletter Popbitch, a musical featuring the hits of AC/DC "may be in the pipeline."
If the report is to be believed, the Australian band's songs will be combined with the Mark Wahlberg movie "Rock Star" for a theater production.
Other groups who have had their back catalogs used in musicals include QUEEN, ABBA and MADNESS.
AC/DC's new album may be titled "Black Ice", according to Australian web site Undercover News. That title is apparently one of three that the band is considering for its first album of new material in eight years, with "Runaway Train" another possible contender. A release date has yet to be announced for the disc, but it could arrive as early as October.
The new album will follow 2000's "Stiff Upper Lip". It was recorded at a Canadian studio with PEARL JAM and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN producer Brendan O'Brien.
Sony BMG recently revealed that the disc will be sold exclusively through Wal-Mart stores, which has caused controversy with critics and fans.

The Pulse of Radio reports that AC/DC is tentatively planning to open two stores, one in New York and one in Los Angeles, that will exclusively sell AC/DC music and merchandise, according to HardDrive Radio. The shops will open their doors at the same time that the group's new album, "Black Ice", hits the streets and will close after the holidays. No other details on the exact locations have been announced. "Black Ice", meanwhile, has had its release date pushed up one week, from October 28 to October 21. The areas will consist of large tour cases that will contain merch, their CD catalogue, as well as a Rock Band display. AC/DC will continue its stance of not allowing their music to be sold through digital online services.
The first single from "Black Ice", titled "Rock 'n Roll Train", will arrive at radio stations August 28. A source at Harddrive Radio described it as "smoking hot. It's AC/DC like we love them, loud, anthemic and hard!"
