KITTIE Frontwoman 'Groped' At Baltimore Concert; Band Cuts Performance Short According to Bob Suehs of the Rock N Roll Experience web site, KITTIE frontwoman Morgan Lander was groped by a member of the audience at the band's August 19, 2007 concert at Sonar in Baltimore, Maryland, forcing the group to cut its show short. "Morgan jumped off the stage with her mic in hand and stood against the rail on the inside of the barricade that separated the crowd from the band," writes Suehs. "I didn't even see a need for the barricade up until this point, because the crowd was small and it seemed to be a decent crowd with no problems, until some asshole decided to grab Morgan's boobs when she got up close to the crowd and when I saw it happen, in all honesty, I wasn’t even sure if I saw what I thought I saw. I had to ask others what happened and needless to say, this made Morgan erupt... She jumped back on the stage almost immediately and it was clear from the expression on her face that she was pissed off and upset. Morgan ran to the back of the stage where she grabbed her guitar and the first thing that struck me was the feedback that was coming from her guitar... it was loud and Morgan acted as if she didn't even notice it because she was pissed off and when her sister Mercedes [Lander, drums] got wind of what happened, all hell broke loose and Mercedes jumped from behind the drum kit and grabbed the mic and began yelling at the asshole that violated her sister. . . Morgan commented that it was sad that the show had to end like that, but she was too upset over the incident, and if that situation wasn’t bad enough, the next three minutes are when things got bad though...the crowd knew who groped Morgan and the crowd took it on themselves to rectify the situation, and there was a guy who was beat up pretty freakin' bad and I actually saw club security people going into the crowd with some sorta club/bat/baton in their hands to break up the situation and this is the first time I've ever witnessed a situation where someone in the crowd violated a performer who was trying to connect with the fans, and then the crowd turned into an angry mob and got revenge for their dissed idol." KITTIE Parts Ways With Bassist TRISH DOAN
Canadian metal band KITTIE has announced the departure of bassist Trish Doan.
Doan has been diagnosed with the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa, which she developed during the recording of KITTIE's "Funeral For Yesterday", Doan's first release with the group.
"It breaks my heart to say goodbye to this family that has given me the best two years of my life," Doan said. “I wish my time with KITTIE did not have to end, but this decision was made based on doctors' orders. Unfortunately this is the only option that will allow for my full recovery."
Doan has been battling the disease for nearly two years.
"Trish is a part of our family and her talents and friendship will be missed by all of us," said Tara McLeod and sisters Mercedes and Morgan Lander. "We are continuing to be respectful and supportive of Trish's needs during her period of healing. We wish her the best on her road to recovery and will remain close to her throughout this difficult time."

KITTIE: Morgan Lander Comments On Death Of Father/Manager
Indy.com recently conducted an interview with vocalist/guitarist Morgan Lander of the Canadian all-girl metal band KITTIE. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Indy.com: What would you like your father's legacy to be? (Morgan and drummer Mercedes Lander's father/manager, David Lander, died of a heart attack in early August.)
Morgan: (He) left his job and took it upon himself to help this band when no one wanted to talk to a bunch of 14- and 13-year-old girls. He relentlessly sent demos, and he did it. As our manager, he got this band into the 1 percentile of bands that make it. You can't pay for that kind of dedication and love. Only now are we realizing how much he actually did. Our heads are spinning.
Indy.com: After Indy, you head to Europe. Do you think metal fans in Europe are more active or engaged than U.S. audiences?
Morgan: It's just different. Metal is a little more accepted in the mainstream in Europe. It's not so much a subculture or counterculture.
Indy.com: You've said that you and Mercedes redefined KITTIE in the "Funeral for Yesterday" album. What's the new definition?
Morgan: It's not wildly different ..... But the attempt was to blend the heavy musical side of the band with a more melodic vocal. In the past, we'd have a heavy screaming song and then a lighter ballad. This was sticking them together. I don't think it's true that you have to scream to be metal. Back when metal was king in the 1980s, there was no such thing as screaming, really. But it was metal: JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN. Rob Halford was singing three octaves and people thought it was awesome.
