The Music Video Proving Ground
Let's face it... The 80's was the peak time for the creation of music videos. I can't think of anything in recent memory that really raised the bar.
So this thread is a place for you to post and discuss what videos were the cream of the crop. From past to present, any video, any genre, you make the call.

The music video that really raided the bar...
Michael Jackson's "Thriller"... Sorta
* Since the record label keeps such a tight leash on this video and doesn't want it shared... I have decided to present to you the Indian remake of "Thriller". It is just as equally badass... it uses Michael Jackson's blueprint... it just has a lower budget. Thank you for your patience.
I remember VHS tapes being passed around with this video because everyone wanted to see it and cable did not yet rule the land. Hell, no if it hits the web it is world wide within a day... how times have changed.

Would Madonna's "Justify My Love" count? It certainly "raised the bar"!

It is amazing how well this video still holds up 2 decades later...
A-Ha - Take On Me
The major flaw in the video is that that chick looks pretty grizzled from the jump. George Lucas should CGI in Jar-Jar Binks and be done with it.

When good videos go bad...
Twisted Sister undoubtedly created some of the finest videos ever to come out of the 80's. However, they also made this one...
Twisted Sister - "Leader of The Pack"

Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
The music video for the song featured early computer animation illustrating the lyrics. While the characters seem boxy and the animation appears a little crude by modern standards, the video was one of the first uses of computer-animated human characters and was considered groundbreaking at the time of its release. It was the second computer-generated music video shown on MTV.
You can't deny the tasty riffs of Dire Straits!

This video has it all. Action, drama, questionable pants...

It still boggles my mind that David Lee Roth is straight.

This one is a little more obscure but it is still a great video.
The Geto Boys – “Mind Playing Tricks on Me”
Gangster paranoia is not convincing if the rapper is smirking from behind his bling-bling or pimp goblet.
The paranoia in “Mind Playing Tricks on Me” works because everything is shot in a ruddy made-for-TV special haze; the sets are modest, if they’re sets at all; and there’s no attempt to portray the Geto Boys as anything other than people drowning in fear, even as life goes on around them.
The best part for me is the end of the video were Bushwick Bill is running around trick-or-treating.... and then re-enacting the fight he describes in the video. There is also a random shot of a werewolf which goes unexplained.
An instant classic!

Good choice man. Damn good video and a song that I enjoy around Halloween. I believe it is included on our Season of the Witch soundtrack.

This isn't 80's but along with Nirvana's Teen Spirit I felt it came along at the right time.
Jane's Addiction- Been Caught Stealing[/color]
It reminds me of a typical night at the Easton Safeway. Dudes in lipstick, a pole dancer, chicks in cheap clothing shaking their goods, guys with dreads stealing turkeys. Good stuff.

CYPRESS HILL - Hand On The Pump
Some classic, funky Cypress Hill shit...
I like the robotic gunshot dance that B-Real perfects in the video. Straight gangsta.

DIO - Holy Diver
Dio instantly proved that no one can ever rock as hard as him in this instant classic. Sadly, Dio proved to be about two inches to high to play Willow years later.
