JONATHAN DAVIS: 'HEAD Is Not Coming Back To KORN'KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has dismissed as "false" rumors that former guitarist Brian "Head" Welch will rejoin the band. A message was posted on Welch's Head to Christ web site on Thursday (Sept. 14) — purportedly coming from Welch himself — stating that he had discussions with Davis and KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer about returning to the band. "I've been speaking with Jon and Munk about us and the split," the apparently false statement read. "And finally I can say that I'm taking the right side of the stage again for our next KORN tour and album. "I'm so excited! I will post more later. Peace all." Rock radio station HardDrive Radio told KORN fan site KoRn.Simpol.Net that KORN's management company The Firm knew nothing of Welch's return to the band. Many fans, despite being shocked and somewhat excited, were in disbelief about the message posted on Welch's blog. Davis himself addressed the rumors via a message passed on by the administrators of the official KORN message boards. "It's bullshit," Davis said. "Not real. False, incorrect, deceitful, not real. "Head is NOT coming back to KORN. Repeat, Head is not back in KORN." - - ENJOY YOSELF!!! - www.headtochrist.com/

According to ButtSexCrips.com: KORN To Begin Writing New Album Today
KORN will begin writing material today (Monday, October 2) for the follow-up to last year's "See You on the Other Side" album, singer Jonathan Davis revealed in a posting on his ButtSexCrips.com web site. " can't wait," he said. "I know it's gonna be insane the band is really on fire and have some phat shit to record."
Jonathan Davis recently told Launch Radio Networks that he is considering going on his first solo tour sometime in the next few months, after the band finishes recording its eighth studio album. Davis told Launch that he wants to play casinos with the four backing musicians who accompanied KORN on the road this year, performing a mix of acoustic KORN songs, soundtrack numbers and covers. "I really wanna do it," he said. "It should just be fun. I have fun playing with those guys 'cause they're really, they're all professionals, and I think we could do some cool shows. It will also be like, it could be billed as 'A Night with Jonathan Davis.' It's not gonna be KORN or nothing like that, so it's gonna be cool. I wanna do some cool, like, lounge-y Vegas stuff. It'll be cool for diehard fans."
KORN released an expanded edition of its seventh album, "See You on the Other Side", on September 26. The new version includes a "Chopped And Screwed" remix EP, cuts from the band's acoustic AOL Music session, live tracks, a bonus DVD and alternate artwork.
The band recently finished headlining the revived Family Values Tour, which also featured DEFTONES, STONE SOUR, 10 YEARS and others. A CD/DVD document of the trek is expected out by December.

KORN Frontman To Embark On Solo Tour
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has confirmed to MTV.com that he will be hitting the road without his core band. The Davis tour launching in February will feature the singer performing alongside the four musicians who backed KORN on tour this year. The backing musicians performed guitar, piano, backup vocals and percussion.
"I'm gonna do it more in the style of a lounge thing," Davis told MTV.com. "I'll be playing KORN songs, the 'Queen of the Damned' [soundtrack] stuff I did and a lot of different covers. When I was growing up, my dad played in a couple of bands where they just went around different clubs and played covers. It's just going to be fun."
Although he's venturing outside of KORN for the tour, Davis says he has no plans for a solo album.
"The closest thing [I've done to a solo album] was the 'Queen of the Damned' stuff and if I were to [record something solo] again, it'd be something like that," Davis said. "Maybe some day when it's right, but I don't want to distract from KORN. I don't want people to think there's problems with the band. I'm just trying to have fun while the other guys are relaxing or working on their own records or whatever."
Things are so good with KORN, in fact, the band is already jumping back in the studio to work on its eighth proper album.
"We start today," Davis said. "We're just going to be riffing out and compiling ideas. Whenever we came off the road, we went right into the studio, so we have six or seven songs done and we're going to work on some more."

KORN Includes Keyboardist In Songwriting Process For New Album
According to Rolling Stone magazine, KORN has included keyboardist Zac Baird in the recording process for its eighth studio album.
"Everybody counted us down and out and said what we do is dead," KORN frontman Jonathan Davis said. "[On our last record, 2005's 'See You on the Other Side'] I think we proved to people that it's not, and now we're totally ready to knock it out of the park."
The band hit a Los Angeles studio in early October to begin work on the disc, which it hopes to release next spring.
"I'll probably pull a lot from my near-death experience," Davis said of his brush this year with a rare immune disease that left him with a platelet count close to zero.
"Dude, that affected me a lot. I'm all about my family now — it makes you reprioritize."
Pop producers The Matrix, who worked on "See You on the Other Side", will return for the new project. And the band is including a keyboardist in the writing process for the first time.
He's doing really cool melodies and very ambient stuff too," Davis told Rolling Stone.
In the meantime Davis is planning his first solo tour, which will combine acoustic takes on KORN obscurities with cover songs (PRINCE's "Erotic City").
"It's not going to be like a KORN show, but I think it will be a fun night," he said.

Korn has 18 Songs Written For New Album
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has told rock radio station HardDrive Radio that the band has already written 18 songs for its new album since heading into the studio last month.
KORN began writing its eighth studio album on October 2. Davis wrote in an Oct. 1 online post, "I can't wait. I know it's gonna be insane. The band is really on fire and have some phat shit to record." Davis had said in earlier interviews that he and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer had both been writing new material while on the road in support of the band's last album, "See You on the Other Side".
The band plans once again to collaborate with The Matrix, the songwriting and producing team that worked with the group on "See You on the Other Side".
Davis recently told Launch that he is considering going on his first solo tour sometime in the next few months, after the band finishes recording its new CD.
KORN released an expanded edition of "See You on the Other Side" on September 26, featuring a remix EP, cuts from the band's acoustic AOL Music session, live tracks, a bonus DVD and alternate artwork.
A CD/DVD of the band's recently completed Family Values Tour is expected out in December.

KORN Frontman Says New Material Is 'Definitely New And Different For Us'
Launch Radio Networks reports: KORN is working on the follow-up to its 2005 album, "See You On The Other Side". The band has already written 18 songs and will continue to come up with more before deciding which ones will make the final cut. Singer Jonathan Davis told Launch that the group has no intention of just repeating itself on the new CD. "You know, we want to step it up another level and try and do some more different stuff," he said. "We don't wanna do 'See You On The Other Side' part two. We're just taking our time and getting in there and doing some different kind of stuff, and I'm excited. I can't wait. I just started singing yesterday on the first song and it's really melodic, but it's still heavy, and it's definitely new and different for us."
Meanwhile, AlbumVote.co.uk reported this week that KORN will release its first-ever acoustic album in early 2007. The live, "MTV Unplugged"-style disc will reportedly come out on February 19 in the U.K. However, the existence of this project has yet to be confirmed and Jonathan Davis himself made no mention of it to Launch.
Davis did recently say that he is planning to go on his first solo acoustic tour in February, which might have been confused with an album release.
Davis also told Launch that despite online reports, he has not officially agreed to play the title role in a new independent horror film called "Job". He is in talks to star in the movie, but has not signed on yet. If he does, it will be the singer's second major role in a horror film, following the yet-to-be-released "Sin-Jin Smyth".
Live tracks from KORN will appear on the "2006 Family Values" CD and DVD due out at the end of next month.

Things are going really good; a lot of great ideas goin' on. We are in the process of fine-tuning the songs we got and after the first of the year we start working with [producer] Atticus [Ross] and we are really looking forward to that. "Munk [KORN guitarist James 'Munky' Shaffer] has been working really hard on his label Emotional Syphon Recordings. He's got a couple of great bands on the label, DROID and MONSTER IN THE MACHINE. You can check them out on his site, www.emotionalsyphon.com. It's a really kool site. Go buy their music, fuckers. "Fieldy [bassist Reginald 'Fieldy' Arvizu] has been workin' on his clothing line Immanuel 123 and a book called 'Got the Life'. He's workin' on a DVD for Immanuel 123 with music from Marz Q Unique and Fieldy's solo stuff. And I have been chillin' — not doin' shit but workin' on KORN songs. I'm very excited about this album. Also, go buy DEADSY's new album on my label Elementree Records. The music is groundbreaking. Also go check out my friend's site www.guitarbyjr.com. He is offering KORN fans free guitar lessons on his site. He is also on www.myspace.com/guitarbyjr. I think it's kool he's doin' this for KORN kids." KORN began writing its eighth studio album on October 2. Davis said in earlier interviews that he and Shaffer had both been writing new material while on the road in support of the band's last album, "See You on the Other Side". KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS Talks Own 'Family Values' KORN frontman Jonathan Davis recently spoke to Risen magazine about his near-death experience and fatherhood. Davis, the man who as a coroner's assistant "fell in love" with working around dead bodies, nearly became one this summer. The KORN singer was midway through a European tour when he began noticing bruises on his body and feeling weak after shows. He checked into a London hospital and was diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenic purpura, with a rare blood disease. While people typically have somewhere between 140 and 400 platelets in their blood cells, he had five. "If I continued to headbang on stage, I could have had a brain hemorrhage and dropped dead on the spot," Davis blogged from his hospital bed. Since then, the Bakersfield, California, native has made a full recovery. "If it comes back, the worst case scenario is they take my spleen out," he says now, rather casually. KORN's follow-up tour, the return of Family Values, was a colossal critical and comercial success, and Davis has since put plans in motion for his first solo tour. And literally right after he finished the Risen interview, the band reconvened to start recording its eighth studio album. Jonathan Davis has now been sober for eight years. "It's the most amazing thing you can ever do," Davis says on being a father. "It's the reason for living, pretty much. Just seeing these little people who depend on you and you see yourself in, that's a way of immortality in itself. "The day [11-year-old] Nathan was born, I was a complete stark-raving drug-addict-alcoholic nutcase, and I didn't give a crap about anybody but myself. I lived the rock 'n' roll lifestyle full on, excess chicks, everything. "One day I came home completely sloshed and he was probably 2 at the time. He knew I was fucked up and he gave me this look I'll never forget. It made me feel like an inch tall. "I went on this tour when 'Follow the Leader' came out and my grandfather passed away and those two things put me over the edge. I quit drinking, smoking, doing drugs, everything, that day, August 22, 1998. I haven't touched anything since. "I was messed up mentally for about a year from the alcohol and drug withdrawal and the chemistry getting back to normal in my body. I had horrible panic attacks, I got schizophrenic for a while. I thought people were trying to poison my food. "The whole first Family Values Tour, I only came out of my bunk to play shows. Then I went right back in. Once it cleaned all out, my mind got straight and it was great. I had to be around for my kids."

MTV Unplugged' Air Dates Announced
"MTV Unplugged: Korn" — which was taped this past Saturday (Dec. 9) at MTV's Times Square studios — will air online February 10 and on TV February 17, according to MTV.com. The "MTV Unplugged: Korn" CD will be released on February 20.
For this particular performance, KORN called upon musical director Richard Gibbs to guide them through their 15-song set. The dreadlocked former OINGO BOINGO keyboardist had collaborated previously with KORN frontman Jonathan Davis on the songs and score for the 2002 film "Queen of the Damned".
Like most "Unplugged" performances, KORN's featured a diverse array of instrumentalists and instrumentation. A dozen classically trained musicians — all dressed in black and wearing black masks — shared the stage with these hard rockers, playing instruments common (cellos, trombones), uncommon (saws, cimbassos) and rare (the Benjamin Franklin-invented glass harmonica). Toward the end of the taping, six Japanese taiko drummers were summoned to strengthen the band's rendition of "Throw Me Away".

KORN's Jon Davis: 'We Are Not Breaking Up'
KORN frontman Jonathan Davis has shot down rumors that the group is on the verge of splitting up following the recent announcement that drummer David Silveria was "taking a break" from the band.
Davis, bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu and guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer will continue to write and record the band's eighth studio album, although it has not been revealed who will play drums during the current recording sessions.
"He really needed to take a break, he was very burnt out," Davis said in a posting on his blog ButtSexCrips regarding David. "He will not be on this record or tour but will be back for the next one, if ready. Until then we will have a fill-in drummer.
"We are NOT breaking up, this is not the last album. Everything is fine, this is only temporary."
Silveria's hiatus comes 22 months after the band parted ways with guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, marking the first personnel change in KORN's history. Welch left the group in February of 2005 to devote his life to Christianity.
KORN performed an acoustic set on December 9 at the MTV studios in New York City for an episode of "MTV Unplugged". The show is expected to air sometime in February, with a CD release planned for that month as well. EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee and members of THE CURE made guest appearances at the taping, which Silveria did not attend.
Commented Davis: "The 'Unplugged' was insane. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would share the stage with THE CURE. You all should have seen the audience's faces when they walked on stage; everyone had their mouths open. Funny shit."
On the subject of the upcoming CD, Davis said, "[The] album is going good, [we] have about eight slammin' songs done. We start writing again after the New Year. Very excited. We are going to experiment with writing some long seven- or eight-minute jams. [We'll] see what happens."
The new KORN album is tentatively slated to arrive in June of 2007 and will follow up last December's "See You On The Other Side".
A CD and DVD of the 2006 Family Values Tour, which featured KORN, DEFTONES, STONE SOUR and others, will arrive in stores on December 26.

Korn's MTV Unplugged is now online at MTV.com. The whole performance is available for viewing with interviews in between songs with Jonathan, Munky and Fieldy - the 3 surviving original members. I checked a lot of it out and I say the results are mixed. "Falling Away From Me" and "Freak On A Leash" (feat. Amy Lee) are really good. However, "Creep" the Radiohead cover is decent, though you may cringe when Jonathan hits the high note at the end of the song. "Got the Life" is freakin tight in this version. On a few songs Jonathan seems way too laid back - you'll see what I mean. A wide variety of instruments are used - piano, handbell, glass harmonica - lots of cool stuff. "Throw Me Away" is really cool and the best on here. Overall, its surely different and I'll be getting the CD when it's out. Anyways, check it out: www.mtv.com/#/music/unplugged/detail.jhtml?contentId=1552934
