According to a posting at The NIN Hotline, NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor has spoken to Kerrang! magazine about his new band, confirming that Jeordie White (a.k.a. Twiggy Ramirez, A PERFECT CIRCLE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) and Jerome Dillon (drums) are on board, along with "newcomer guitarists Ralph Dieter and Alessandro Cortini."
The group's new CD, entitled "With Teeth", will contain 12 tracks, and is said to be "more song-orientated" than "The Fragile", which was described in the article as "instrumental soundtracks for movies that haven't been filmed yet." Said Trent, "I wanted to hone my songwriting skills with melodies and hooks." Trent also added that he ditched the original working title for the new album, "Bleedthrough", because "people were thinking about blood or a tampon commercial."
"With Teeth" is tentatively scheduled for an April/May release via Nothing/Interscope, according to the magazine, which is promising a longer interview and article in next week's issue.
In other news, a brand new posting at NIN's official web site indicates that the band "will be announcing the first round of U.S. tour dates in the near future. For access to ticket pre-sales, make sure you are registered with the NINE INCH NAILS mailing list.

According to a posting at Audio Aggression, former POWERMAN 5000 guitarist Mike Tempesta (M.33) is rumored to have joined NINE INCH NAILS as the group's touring guitarist.
Tempesta, who is the brother of veteran hard rock/metal drummer John Tempesta (HELMET, ex-ROB ZOMBIE, TESTAMENT, EXODUS), was conspicuously absent from POWERMAN 5000's last two live shows, prompting speculation from the band's fans that he had left the group. This was subsequently confirmed by POWERMAN 5000 frontman Spider One, who stated in an online posting, "Mike has been a HUGE part of the band and contributed to the vibe and songwriting of POWERMAN 5000 for many years, but things are changing once again in the world of PM5K. Mike's off to do other things and most likely will not be a part of future shows or recordings. No big scandal involved, just evolution."

NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor has confirmed the group's new touring lineup as the following:
Aaron North (ex-THE ICARUS LINE) – Guitar Jerome Dillon – Drums Jeordie White (A PERFECT CIRCLE, ex-MARILYN MANSON) – Bass Alessandro Cortini - Keyboards
Commented Trent, "I am very excited about this and we fucking sound great. I've been saying I've wanted this incarnation of the band to be a departure and now it truly is.
"Alessandro fit in immediately, but we looked all over for the right guitarist. In retrospect, I believe we were looking for someone to fill Robin's [Finck] shoes. When Aaron walked through the door, he pissed on Robin's shoes and kicked them out the door where they belong — effectively closing a chapter. A great chapter, but one that is in the past. This is a new entity that feels very fresh and vital.
"We are preparing to destroy you."
Asked by a fan in the "Access" section of the group's web site how he thinks having the new bandmembers will change the sound of the older songs when performed live in concert, Trent said, "The band is capable of a lot and I trust and respect everyone's musical ability. We are reworking a number of older tracks that still matter to us, while focusing on the new material."
NINE INCH NAILS' new album, "With Teeth", is scheduled for release in the U.S on May 3 (one day earlier internationally). The CD will contain 12 tracks, and is said to be "more song-orientated" than 1999's "The Fragile". The album was recorded in part at Sound City Studio in Van Nuys, Ca., and features a guest appearance on drums by former NIRVANA drummer/current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl. Mixing duties were handled by Alan Moulder (THE CURE, SMASHING PUMPKINS).

Sp1at.com recently conducted brief interviews with new NINE INCH NAILS members Aaron North (guitar, ex-THE ICARUS LINE) and Alessandro Cortini (keyboards). Several interview excerpts follow:
Sp1at.com: What is the status between you and THE ICARUS LINE?
Aaron North: "I quit the band. I was over it. I did not quit THE ICARUS LINE to join NINE INCH NAILS, I quit THE ICARUS LINE about a month before I started playing with NIN."
Sp1at.com: Have you heard the new NIN album, and if so, what are your favorite tracks?
Aaron North: "I have... and I'm not going to tell you. I will say that it is an amazing and inspiring record. Really fun stuff to play."
Sp1at.com: You piss on Robin Finck's shoes, according to Trent [Reznor]. What do you think of that?
Aaron North: "I don't know. It's apples and oranges. My style and approach to guitar is nothing like that dude's. I've only seen him play once... when my old band played a festival in Japan with GUNS N' ROSES... he seems like a great guitar player, but like i said, apples and oranges."
Sp1at.com: How did the NINE INCH NAILS thing come about?
Alessandro Cortini: "I saw a flyer for the audition and I went for it.
Sp1at.com: Have you heard the new NINE INCH NAILS album, and if so, what are your favourite tracks and why?
Alessandro Cortini: "I listen to it everyday, and soon you will too..."
Sp1at.com: The first single from "With Teeth" has been confirmed as "The Hand that Feeds". Would that have been your first choice of single?
Alessandro Cortini: "I am not good at picking singles."
Sp1at.com: Which festivals are you looking forward to doing this year and which countries are you looking forward to visiting?
Alessandro Cortini: "I am looking forward to any and all the shows we'll be playing this year. It is going to be a blast."

NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor recently spoke to Rolling Stone magazine about the group's upcoming CD, "With Teeth".
"I had plenty of life experience to draw from while working on this record," Reznor said of the CD, NINE INCH NAILS' first album in six years. "I was getting sane while the world was going crazy."
Due May 3, the follow-up to 1999's "The Fragile" features a guest appearance by former NIRVANA drummer/current FOO FIGHTERS frontman Dave Grohl.
"I wrote some of these tracks with a Grohl-esque performance in mind," said Reznor. "I asked him if he was into it and that was that."
Added Reznor, "This record is probably more honest than anything I've done."

In other news, Audiohead.net has posted a new article/interview with Trent Reznor regarding the recording of "With Teeth". Specific topics regarding the recording process of "With Teeth" are engaged. A sample quote from Reznor follows: "The idea of trying to work with tape is stupid to me, seems archaic and is not something I want to embrace. But I do think you can take the aesthetic of humanity and imperfection and spontenaity, and use it with computers. And that's — in kind of a rough, raw way — one of the things we've stumbled into with this record."

On www.nin.com, Trent Reznor is offering a complete mix of a song from the forthcoming Nine Inch Nails album as a Garageband 2.0 file. The CD/vinyl is due out on May 3. Snip from the README: "For quite some time I've been interested in the idea of allowing you the ability to tinker around with my tracks - to create remixes, experiment, embellish or destroy what's there. I tried a few years ago to do this in shockwave with very limited results. After spending some quality time sitting in hotel rooms on a press tour, it dawned on me that the technology now exists and is already in the hands of some of you. I got to work experimenting and came up with something I think you'll enjoy. What I'm giving you in this file is the actual multi-track audio session for "the hand that feeds" in GarageBand format. This is the entire thing bounced over from the actual Pro Tools session we recorded it into. I imported and converted the tracks into AppleLoop format so the size would be reasonable and the tempo flexible."

According to MTV.com, NINE INCH NAILS recently shot a video for the second single, "Only", off their upcoming "With Teeth" CD with director David Fincher.
Fincher — famous for the bleak and brutal flicks "Seven" and "Fight Club" — hasn't made a video since A PERFECT CIRCLE's "Judith" in 2000. He has also directed clips for MADONNA ("Express Yourself") and AEROSMITH ("Janie's Got a Gun").
According to a spokesperson for Fincher, the new video almost entirely comprises computer-graphics-enhanced shots, and the director developed a brand new CG concept for the clip. Points of reference can be found in the CG shots from "Fight Club", including a scene that looks inside the head of Edward Norton's character. As with most of Fincher's work, the video for "Only" relies heavily on post-production, and as a result, the clip is not expected to be completed until June.

Launch Radio Networks reports: According to Trent Reznor, it won't be another six years before another NINE INCH NAILS album surfaces. In a forum on the band's official web site where Reznor and other members answer fan questions, a person named Lindsay asked, "You've talked about another album being released relatively soon. Can you tell us anything about it? Will it be a 'sister' album to 'With Teeth'...? Will it sound similar to 'With Teeth'?" Reznor replied, "I'm working on it right now — I think it's about to shift in direction. We'll see. Stay tuned."
Reznor certainly doesn't seem to have a shortage of songs. He told Launch that when he started working on the just-released "With Teeth" album, he came up with a large amount of material. "I had forty or fifty musical kind of things I thought sounded good, all instrumental," he said. "I'd prepared myself that no matter what I did, it was okay, and I'll just keep writing more. You know, it's not like, 'When I get to ten, I'm done.' I planned on getting to fifty."
"With Teeth", NINE INCH NAILS' first new album since 1999's "The Fragile", arrived in stores last Tuesday. Early reports indicate that the disc could debut at Number One on The Billboard 200 chart, with first-week sales in the range of 260 - 280,000.

NINE INCH NAILS mainman Trent Reznor recently spoke to MTV.com about his collaboration with former RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE frontman Zack de la Rocha.
A de la Rocha/Reznor cut, "We Want It All", appeared on last year's "Songs and Artists That Inspired Fahrenheit 9/11". As for what will happen with the other 19 or so tracks the two worked on together, Reznor has no idea.
"We got together for a number of sessions in New Orleans just working on some material that, personally, I thought turned out excellent," Reznor said. "Over time, I think it was a matter of Zack not knowing what direction to go. I know the feeling of fear. He's in a difficult position of leaving one of the best bands of the '90s, and he wants to make an important statement when he makes it. And he will when he gets around to making it."
Regarding TAPEWORM, Reznor's collaboration with TOOL/A PERFECT CIRCLE singer Maynard James Keenan, Trent said, "It just didn't seem like it was that great to me. At the end of the day I figure, if we are going to work together, it's got to be the greatest thing ever. It didn't feel like that to me.
"Plus I was starting to work on my thing and [Keenan] was on tour. It just got complicated and seemed like one not to pursue. It was pretty good, but I wouldn't put a record out of my own that I thought was 'pretty good.' "

"While we respect NINE INCH NAILS' point of view, we were uncomfortable with their performance being built around a partisan political statement," the statement reads, according to MTV.com. "When we discussed our discomfort with the band, their choice was to unfortunately pull out of the Movie Awards."
MTV announced that the FOO FIGHTERS would be taking NIN's spot on the show.
