ROB ZOMBIE Lists Top Five Zombie Movies
Launch Radio Networks reports: Although Rob Zombie has previously touted the original 1931 "Frankenstein" as his all-time favorite horror movie, he's got a different set of favorites on his list of the top five zombie flicks. In a posting on his MySpace page, Zombie revealed his fave movies about the walking dead, along with his reasons for their inclusion:
5. "Zombie Lake" - "This one is just really weird. Maybe not the best zombie movie, but for some reason I like it anyway."
4. "Dawn of the Dead" (1978 original) - "As a sequel, it's outstanding and a great political commentary on how people are zombified by their culture. Where else can you get a Zombie Mexican Biker Pie Fight?"
3. "I Walked With a Zombie" - "This one is classic, but a little unknown. They had a really different approach to the storytelling in this one, which I why I like it."
2. "Night of the Living Dead" - "This movie was simply groundbreaking for the black and white zombie genre. (Director) George Romero had people freaking out with the whole idea of zombies coming alive and eating people."
1. "White Zombie" - "Nothing like a little voodoo to make your woman love you more. Plus it's got Bela Lugosi."
Rob Zombie's remake of the classic horror film "Halloween" is scheduled to hit theatres a year from now. Shooting is scheduled to begin in January.
Zombie's previous credits as a screenwriter and director are 2003's "House of 1000 Corpses" and 2005's "The Devil's Rejects".
He's also finishing up work on a live CD and DVD, recorded and filmed during his 2006 tour.

"Sheri [Rob's wife] and I ran into him at a shopping mall many years ago and he was very cool. I still got the autograph."

ROB ZOMBIE To Hit The Road In October
The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) reports: Now that Rob Zombie has completed work on his third film as a writer and director, a remake of the horror classic "Halloween", the rocker-turned-filmmaker is setting his sights on the road. Zombie told The Pulse of Radio that he'll go on tour in October and stay out for a couple of months before turning to his next project. "Me and the guys have been talking, and we're, like, you know, gonna start rehearsing soon and, you know, we'll be back on the road in October," he said. "We'll probably quit right around Christmas time, take a break for that, and then who knows what — maybe make a new record or start another movie or something, I don't know."
Zombie says he'll hit the road with at least one other major act (rumored to be OZZY OSBOURNE), whose name he couldn't reveal. Dates and venues are also yet to be announced.
The singer was originally in the running to open some fall dates for BLACK SABBATH offshoot band HEAVEN AND HELL, but couldn't commit to that because it was too close to the opening of "Halloween".
"Halloween" arrives in theatres on August 31.
Zombie will release his first-ever live album on September 18.

ROB ZOMBIE Says Upcoming Live Album Contains 'A Little Bit Of Everything'
Rob Zombie has commented on upcoming concert album, which appears to be simply titled "Zombie Live". The disc comes out on September 18 and is Zombie's first-ever live effort, featuring 18 songs from both his solo career and his time with WHITE ZOMBIE.
Zombie told The Pulse of Radio (formerly Launch Radio Networks) that fans should expect a wide assortment of material. "We did the live record last summer when we were on tour, and it's a pretty long record, it's 18 songs, it's a little bit of everything," he said. "There's a couple of songs on there that we hardly ever, ever play, that we played a couple of nights and recorded it — older WHITE ZOMBIE songs like 'Black Sunshine' and things like that which we never, ever play. We didn't even hardly ever play that even in WHITE ZOMBIE. So, you know, stuff like that's pretty cool."

According to Variety, Dimension Films has inked a two-picture deal with writer-director Rob Zombie.
Andy Gould, Zombie's longtime manager and producing partner, has boarded both projects as producer.
Per the terms of the deal, Zombie will write and direct both titles, although Dimension didn't release any further details about the projects, including whether they would be horror films.

ROB ZOMBIE Says BUTTERBALL 'Tortures Turkeys'World Entertainment News Network reports that Rob Zombie quit eating turkey at Thanksgiving when he learned all about the torture methods farms use to fatten up fowl. The animal lover insists he can't even look at a frozen Butterball turkey (a brand of turkey and other poultry products produced by Butterball LLC, a joint venture of Smithfield Foods and Maxwell Farms) anymore, and this Thanksgiving he's hoping to encourage others to give up meat as part of a new People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals campaign. Zombie is narrating the message on PETA's new holiday hotline, 1-888-VEG-FOOD, where callers can hear the "Halloween" and "House Of 1000 Corpses" director warn that eating turkeys supports misery that even the horror king can't stomach. Hear the message at this location:www.aolcdn.com/tmz_audio/1115_rob_zombie.mp3He says, "Every year, Butterball's Turkey Talk Line answers questions about how to boil, broil, roast, and toast the bodies of these gentle, smart, and social birds. "What Butterball doesn't tell you is that it, like other meat companies, tortures turkeys before they end up in grocery stores." Zombie became a vegetarian in high school after seeing a documentary about slaughterhouses. "It freaked me out, and I found it so disgusting that I stopped eating meat," he says.

ROB ZOMBIE Talks Live DVD, Upcoming WHITE ZOMBIE Box Set Chris Harris of MTV.com reports: Not only does Rob Zombie hope to record another studio LP in 2008, he's still working on the companion DVD to his recently released album, "Zombie Live", Zombie's inaugural live offering, which sold 15,000 copies during its first week to debut at #57 on the Billboard top 200. He'd like to have the DVD finished for a spring 2008 release, he said during a recent teleconference with reporters. "I'm not sure [when the DVD will be in stores], 'cause right now, the editor who I'll have edit that is editing [this] behind-the-scenes documentary, documenting the making of 'Halloween', " he said, referring to his re-imagining of the 1978 classic, which hit theaters last summer. "So when he's done doing that, he's then going to go do this one. So, who knows? "I didn't want to really just make a live DVD, because I felt like, 'Ah, who cares?' " he continued. "What I really did was [make] a tour documentary similar to the documentary I made for the DVD for 'Devil's Rejects', where it starts with the first rehearsal through the building of the stage, through traveling and flying and playing every show and after the show and this and that." So what of that long-rumored, oft-delayed WHITE ZOMBIE box set, a compilation of every piece of music the band ever put to tape? "I don't know when it's going to come out," he explained. "I always keep putting it on the backburner to do other projects. What my plan for what to put on it was basically every single thing ever, so that I could put out the box set and go, 'That's everything. Don't ask me about anything else. That is absolutely everything that band's ever recorded.' There [won't be] a lot of extra stuff, but there's tons of stuff that was never even on CD that was just on these limited vinyl releases. I'm not real good at going back and wanting to redo old stuff. I always want to do new stuff, so that's why the project keeps dragging on forever."

ROB ZOMBIE Says 'Halloween' DVD Won't Include Leaked Version
The Pulse of Radio reports: Rob Zombie sat down with Bloody-Disgusting.com for an update on all his current projects, including the upcoming DVD of his recent hit remake of "Halloween". Zombie said the package will contain his "unrated" longer cut of the movie, loads of deleted scenes, documentaries and other bonus features. One thing it will not include, however, is the "workprint" version of the movie that leaked online prior to its theatrical release. Zombie said, "I don't know what this bullshit workprint is. Something got online which I never saw...the version from the day that someone decided to steal the movie and put it online is one of the 300 versions we were cutting. So I don't know what that is, but the one on the unrated DVD is not that."
Zombie also confirmed that recent rumors about him directing a remake of Eighties horror film "C.H.U.D." were "100% false," and that his "adult" cartoon, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto", will be completed in February when he finishes his current tour with OZZY OSBOURNE.
Speaking of Ozzy, Zombie was asked in a recent call with reporters if he'd ever consider casting his tourmate in one of his movies: "Casting Ozzy? No, no. Acting's not a joke for me, you know, and not everybody can act. I mean, there's a lot of people that are great personalities, but that doesn't mean they're actors, because acting's hard and it's really hard on the actors. And that's why usually musicians are terrible actors, 'cause they have their personality and persona, but it doesn't mean they can act."
Zombie has not announced what his next live-action feature will be, although he has said it will "not be a horror film" or "Grande Nation."
The rocker-turned-director appears with Ozzy on Wednesday night (November 28) in Glendale, Arizona.

ROB ZOMBIE Directing A Western?
According to The Pulse of Radio, Rob Zombie told RollingStone.com on Friday (December 7) that his next film might be a Western. The rocker-turned-filmmaker, who said he loved this fall's remake of "3:10 to Yuma", explained, "It's one of my favorite genres. I love John Ford, Howard Hawks". Although Zombie has not revealed specific plans for his fourth film as a director, he told one group of reporters on a recent conference call that it would not be a horror movie. He has also ruled out directing a sequel to his hit remake of "Halloween" and dismissed Internet rumors that he was working on a re-imagining of the '80s chiller "C.H.U.D."
Zombie also said he'd like to make a feature-length version of "Werewolf Women of the S.S.", the fake trailer he directed as part of last spring's "Grindhouse".
Zombie is currently back in rock musician mode, and is touring with Ozzy Osbourne. The trek hits Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday (December 11).
The unrated "director's cut" of "Halloween" arrives on DVD on December 18, containing additional footage, deleted scenes, documentaries and more.

Rumored Plotline For Next ROB ZOMBIE Movie Surfaces
The Pulse of Radio reports: More information has possibly crept out about the next movie from rocker-turned-filmmaker Rob Zombie, titled "Tyrannosaurus Rex". According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, the movie is about a semi-professional wrestler named Tyrannosaurus Rex who is being pursued by a "biker gang from hell." If that is in fact the premise, it closely resembles a comic book that Zombie co-authored a few years ago, called "The Nail". Although a film version of "The Nail" was reportedly in the works at one point, nothing ever came of it.
Zombie created "The Nail" with hot horror comics writer Steve Niles, author of the graphic novel "30 Days of Night". Zombie told The Pulse of Radio at the time how the partnership began. "We got together and we're like the same age, and we sort of have the same background, you know, he was in these DC hardcore bands, and somehow we just were very similar," he said. "So we started working together and, I don't know, it just worked. 'The Nail' is pretty ridiculous, it's sort of like ('70s biker horror film) 'Satan's Sadists' meets ('70s Peter Fonda horror movie) 'Race With The Devil'."
Zombie has not made any public announcements about "Tyrannosaurus Rex" except for the title. The film is due out on August 28, 2009 and will follow his hit 2007 remake of "Halloween".
Zombie's upcoming animated film, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto", was also based on a comic book character he created.

ROB ZOMBIE: Issues Album Update
Rob Zombie has issued the following update:
"Work on the new album is moving along great. We have about 10 songs so far and are still writing away like maniacs. No release date as of yet."
Rob Zombie called the record labels "dinosaurs waiting to die" in an interview in the March issue of Metal Edge magazine. Zombie said that the labels "all have a defeatist attitude. And that's why in another couple of years, they won't exist...They're just overpaid and lazy, and it's all crumbled around them. But the art is not going anywhere. You go out there, and there's more tours than ever, the shows are bigger than ever, the crowds are crazier than ever, the fans are younger than ever; there's no lack of demand for the music or the bands or anything. It's just that the record labels are these overstuffed, overpaid dinosaurs. They're gonna die. The music's not going anywhere."
Zombie said in a recent conference call that he's not sure what future music distribution will look like. "There's got to be something else you can do because CDs, we know that's done," he said. "That's just done. And a download is just not that exciting. There's something missing when you — you can't walk up to someone and go, 'Oh, can you autograph my download?' There's got to be something else that can then happen. I just don't know. I mean, we're certainly trying to figure out what it is, because I want to figure out something special for the next musical release, whatever it will be."
Zombie, who is also a feature film director, also told Metal Edge, "The problem with the record industry is that they've tried to emulate the film business. The film business is very much about the opening weekend...But with a record, it used to be that you'd work it." He added that with his recent concert CD, "Zombie Live", "They put it out there, they put, like, five minutes of work into it, and they're, like, 'We're done'...They say 'No one buys CDs,'so they don't bother to sell them."
Zombie recently confirmed last week that his next live-action feature film will be called "Tyrannosaurus Rex". Reportedly a biker flick and not about dinosaurs, the film is set for release on August 28, 2009. It will follow his hit 2007 remake of the horror classic "Halloween" and his upcoming animated film, "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto".
