Sweden's IN FLAMES may be touring with JUDAS PRIEST and preparing to release a DVD at the end of March. But that has not kept them from already getting some tunes together for a new album.
Singer Anders Fridén told Nuclear Blast magazine, "Nine or ten songs are written, and the drums will be recorded drums in two and a half weeks." As for the direction of the album, Fridén stated that "it will be more uptempo" and feature "more guitar harmonies." Most of the songs have titles by now, but the frontman declined to name them, especially since he was still writing lyrics will travelling in support of JUDAS PRIEST. The tour ended on Monday, March 14 in Böblingen, Germany.
Watch out for the interview with Fridén in the next issue of the Nuclear Blast magazine, where he talks about potentially conservative PRIEST fans, cures for pre-show boredom, being a dad, the "nu metal" tag — and the album.

IN FLAMES frontman Anders Fridén has posted the following message on the group's official web site:
"I'm in Dug-Out studio [in Uppsala, Sweden] recording my vocals for our new album. Want the title... drumroll... 'Crawl Through Knives'. Yes, there it is my friends. Now you can speculate and decide if you will like the album or not... irony is a wonderful thing.
"Everything is going great. Eight out of 13 songs done and some titles are: 'Crawl Through Knives', 'Dead End', 'Leeches', 'Surrender?', 'Reflect the Storm', 'Take This Life'. I feel it's a good mix of everything IN FLAMES stands for, but it's me speaking....
"Next week we'll start mixing in Tonteknink/Umeå and at the end of May the album is DONE."
