The idea behind this little space will be for all of us who are veterans of the ETL scene to name names of certain residents, current and former, who have achieved the status as ETL legend. What I would like is for the readers to just give the identity of the ETL legend you saw during a particular week or day. For instance, if you saw Jimmy Teat, just drop his name here and if you want to add a story feel free. Thus allow me as the starter of this thread to cast the first stone:
Elton John Holmes at Subway-2/10/05
mav himself.

Shawn "How Was Your Christmas" Balance
Location: Easton Post Office
Background: I run into Shawn at least once a year. Pone and I ran into him once years ago at Ledo's. We exchanged greetings, then he inquired: "How was your Christmas?" in a rather stoned out tone. Pone fielded the question and gave an appropriate response. Weird thing was... it was April.
Recent Siting: I was mailing a package when Shawn approached me. He chatted for a second asking what I was up to. Then he asked: "How was your Christmas?"... it is February.
Beyond: Apparently, he was working at a nursing home in Easton. He is going to quit and go screen luggage at the airport "cause it pays like 60 thousand a year." So if you plan on flying out of BWI... consider Dulles.

This guy isn't really a legend in the same way that most other people on this thread are, but he still warrants mentioning:
Charles Streeter at Da Affalete 2/14/05
The reason I put him on is because I always remember how Ted Passyn used to say how much all subsequent Easton High Centers (Mark Beaven and mav himself specifically) sucked compared to him.

It's so entertaining to hear these names that slipped my mind years ago. Too bad no one thought of this column sooner. Especially cool is when completely random shit happens. Like what are the odds of Grimshaw turning up in Bowie, in the exact store at the exact moment that Steele was there? It truly is a small world.
I used to encounter Ballance a few times a year prior to the end of 2002. The odds probably got increased by me attending a lot of parties thrown by Shawn's brother and/or his friends. Don't know if you heard, but their parents actually sold the house and moved to Williamsburg, and Pat moved down to Salisbury, so Shawn is actually the last of their clan in Talbot County. You can't help but wonder if they left him behind on purpose.
I'm told that Easton's notorious Jenny Benda/the former Mrs. Derek Marth lives somewhere here in Virginia Beach now, but I've yet to encounter her in person. Odds are that I never will in a place of this size. I'm pretty sure that sightings of one Charles Perry don't really count.
I'd swear that Potts was in my first grade class before going on to be two grades below me. Unless I'm thinking about the wrong guy. I do know that Garnell "Bummer" Henry was in my first grade class before going on to be a grade or two behind me.

here's a real good one, especially for me and pat.
Denny Berry-2/20/05- walking the streets of the ETL
whether he was looking to score some smack or not i don't know. i do know that if we ever had some "layne staley is still alive" rumors it's because Denny Berry is out there.

RJ
I spotted RJ at Wal-Mart Tuesday evening. He is currently working at Big Bats.
He also told me that he is going to be adding to the population. Apparently, it is going to be a boy.

These are a little old, but they're quality.
Fall 2000: Steven "Goat" Geist spotted in College Park in front of Bank of America, across the street from The Cornerstone with some girl. How he got there is beyond me.
Somewhere in the late 90s-early 00s: Jay Guy George spotted at The Cornerstone in College Park. Again, I have no idea how he got that far out from Easton, maybe he and Jon Soistman were on their way to Tennessee to watch the sun rise again. He may have been scouting for a place to perform his acoustic jams of "Plush", "Angie" and "Innocent Bystander".
Fall 1997: As I'm walking across campus in College Park, I notice a business card on the ground. Upon further examination, I see the name "Joe Ellis" on the card. I'm sure it was the same from Easton. Him and his goddamn Hawaiian shirts.

He's been mentioned before in the Idiots of Da Affalete column but he deserves his own ETL Legend status: Crazy Acme Man aka Joe the Cart Wrangler. This is the cat that looks like a serial killer and always comes into Da Affalete pulls out the ladder, pulls down and tries on 3 hats and leaves. Today he was wearing a biking helmet with a knit cap underneath.

Here's a good one:
3/2/05- Donald White aka Egg aka Planet of the Apes @ Da Affalete. He has a kid believe it or not. Donald was on the receiving end of some pretty vicious stories, the worst being the one where somebody said his mother fell out of a tree and mated with a human. I also recall when me and stone cold steve plutchak would preach to him to go back to his home planet.

Fuckin' Egg! That toolbag punched me in the face when I was in 9th grade. I just laughed at him. What the hell was he? He looked like one of those OTM (Other than Mexicans) from "Born in East L.A." but I don't know if he was Asian, Mexican, Indian, what have you. Perhaps he was the lost child of Zack de la Rocha.

Little Big Head aka Johnnie Dent
Little Big Head was spotted leaving his SUV in front of the Pub. He had on the same Hunter Green "Marty McFly" Vest he has been wearing for 8 years. His ponytail was magnificent.

It has been said in the recent years that Shorty Big Head Johnny Dent bears quite the passing resemblance to WWE's Chris Jericho. I'm sure Jericho would disagree, as not even a cockroach would want to be compared to that piece of shit.

Not sure about this one but it was recommended: Tamu Jackson-3/4/05 @ Big Bats. Goose thinks he's from Africa. I'm not sure why he thinks he's a legend but Goose insists he's a Legend so I'll agree with him.
