H.I.M. To Film New 'Killing Loneliness' Video This Weekend Finnish goth metallers H.I.M. will be shooting a new video for their song "Killing Loneliness" on Sunday, April 2 in Los Angeles, California. H.I.M. will be joined in the new clip — which is being directed by Nathan Cox (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, MARILYN MANSON, KORN, LINKIN PARK, STAIND, DISTURBED) — by tattoo artist Kat Von D; www.katvond.net/ - she is one of the featured artists on the Discovery Channel's "Miami Ink" series and has made a name for herself as the go-to gal for H.I.M. fans who'd like to mark their bodies with the band's logo, the heartagram. To view the original version of the "Killing Loneliness" video — which was reportedly scrapped due to a "poor American response," according to the group's frontman, Ville Valo.

H.I.M.: North American Tour Cancelled
Finnish rock quintet H.I.M. has cancelled its previously announced fall tour in favor of entering the recording studio to begin work on a new album. The band has been steadily writing material for their forthcoming album and is eager to start preliminary rehearsals for the new CD.
Singer Ville Valo explains the band's decision:
"Our dearest fellowship of the Heartagram, you haven't seen the last of us yet. We just want to keep it fresh for you and stump you with new material. I didn't feel that I could do that without rehearsing some of this stuff that's stuck in my heart. We're happy to have new fans come aboard the ship, but I feel we've got to keep it exciting and new. We've started writing and I can't wait for you guys to hear what we're working on."
H.I.M. has spent the last year touring non-stop behind "Dark Light", which has sold 473,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

oh, that's just bad!! 'german soap opera "star" natalia avelon'...i had to google her...i do have to say that over here in europe HIM is not a very popular cool group...i know, now you could make fun of germans listening to the hoff and stuff but that's kinda the truth with HIM being not too 'cool' over here...well, thinking of it...germans do like the hoff!! (come on, he had a talking car!!)

What isn't to love about the Hoff. I met him once at the peak of his Knight Rider fame. He was cool. It kinda sucked because you couldn't talk to the car and they had signs up saying that he wouldn't answer your questions... that is pretty much dawned on me that there also might be something up with Santa as well. (Notice how I censored my comment so I don't offend our 6 year old readers! Anyway... I wouldn't say that HIM is super popular here either. It is definitely a niche that strongly follows them and the whole CKY/Bam/Jackass contingent. I personally like them and their sound. When we interviewed Valo earlier in the year, you couldn't have asked to meet a nicer or funnier guy. "Love Metal" is definitely a genre that they have defined. I am interested to see if they branch out in the near future.

Unfortunately, the whole Bam thing is something that's going to haunt HIM here in the U.S probably forever. But... If for a minute you just forget about what you think is cool and just listen to HIM's music, you're gonna be into it and singing along and the whole nine yards... It frustrates me that so many bands aren't given their due, just because they are deemed uncool by the media or cool people... Bullshit! I called it ... I don't care if HIM were to end up on freakin TRL - their still good with me There is a fine line between bands like HIM that I don't believe are trying to get on the radio, than from bands that are purposely trying to write hits to get on air (see Soil, Velvet Revolver, Godsmack). HIM's music is just plain good and thats why it is popular and on the radio not because they set out to do so.. Valo is GOD.. Also one of the best if not the best shows i went to was HIM at the TLA in Philly with Eighteen Visions and Kill Hannah..great fuckin time!

H.I.M. Frontman: New Album Is 'A Lot Heavier Than Anything We've Done Before'
H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo recently spoke to Chris Harris of MTV.com about the group's new album, tentatively titled "Venus Doom", which they've been working on with producer Tim Palmer (DREDG, OZZY OSBOURNE) in Helsinki.
"There were too many things going on," Valo said of the band's previous release, 2005's gold-certfified "Dark Light". "['Venus Doom' is] going to be a lot heavier than anything we've done before — that's the whole idea. It's like we're mixing MY BLOODY VALENTINE's 'Loveless' with METALLICA's 'Master of Puppets'. ... There won't be as much ear candy on this one. There are a lot of riffs, and it's more guitar-oriented than keyboard-driven. Really, we just wanted to rock our own socks off.
"We wanted to make a really rockin' album — one that would explode your speakers," he added. "But we also wanted to maintain the melancholy aspects of love and loss in the lyrics and then have the really sweet vocals amidst this storm of guitars.
"Lyrically, it's about me losing a relationship and then actually regaining it, and losing my sanity and regaining it," Valo continued. "As you grow up, life gets more and more complex, even though when you're a kid you think things are going to get easier. It's like a f---ing puzzle that just keeps on having more and more pieces to it. It's very personal, this album. It's like me getting rid of my demons and putting the pain in the music. It's cathartic, and it's about cleansing yourself and trying to have the courage to take that one step further."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Kiss of Dawn", "Love in Cold Blood", "Passion's Killing Floor" and "Dead Lovers Lane".
"Venus Doom" is scheduled for release on July 10.

H.I.M.: 'Venus Doom' Track Listing Revealed According to a posting on the web site of the Los Angeles newspaper The Rockit, Finnish goth metallers H.I.M. have finished mixing their sixth studio album, "Venus Doom", at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. Once again, the band entered the studio with producer/mixer Tim Palmer (TIN MACHINE, THE CURE, THE HOUSE OF LOVE, NED'S ATOMIC DUSTBIN). "At a recent listening session, it became apparent to one Rockit staffer that 'Venus Doom' is quite a departure from the band's last effort, 'Dark Light'," reads a posting on the site. "The moody pop of the previous album has given way to more expansive tracks led by thunderous guitar crunches. Yes, the synthesizer embellishments and SISTERS OF MERCY-esque melodies still remain, but this time they are pushed further into the background. Standout numbers include the prog-tinged 'Kiss of Dawn' and 'Sleepwalking Past Hope', a near-epic piece with a spine-tingling bridge." Due in North America on September 18, "Venus Doom" will feature the following tracks:01. Venus Doom 02. Love in Cold Blood 03. Passion's Killing Floor 04. Kiss of Dawn 05. Sleepwalking Past Hope 06. Dead Lover's Lane 07. Song or Suicide 08. Bleedwell 09. Cyanide Sun

H.I.M. Finds Cover Art For New Album In New Orleans Gallery
More information has been revealed about the cover art for H.I.M.'s new album, "Venus Doom", which was painted by artist David Harouni. The band's leader Ville Valo purchased one of Harouni's paintings at New Orleans' Harouni Gallery (where the artist represents himself) and later asked Harouni if it could be used as the cover for "Venus Doom". Harouni (whose work can be viewed at http://www.harouni.com) agreed and now counts himself as a H.I.M. fan.
H.I.M. recorded "Venus Doom" with producer and longtime friend Tim Palmer (U2, SWITCHFOOT, HOT HOT HEAT) and co-producer Hiili Hiilesmaa at Finnvox Studios in Finland.
With "Venus Doom", the band's sixth album, H.I.M. fans can anticipate a decisively heavier sound, influenced by BLACK SABBATH, old-school METALLICA and SOUNDGARDEN, among others.
